He is the same guy that says "This is messed up man" meaning he feels shit enough about the orders they were given to say it out loudly. Gordon recognised that he was no threat anymore. Gordon is a high trained professional, not a murderer.
I like that we get to see the HECU's perspective when it comes to fighting Freeman. And I also love how Freeman, in turn, isn't just portrayed as a blood thirsty Phyco. (Witch is how most people play in half life 1) Great job, man, really knocked it out of the park.
I can’t Imagine highly trained marines getting ass kicked, humiliated and traumatized by a badass silent nerdy scientist with orange tank suit and his trusty crowbar that explains why Gordon is highly trained professional lmao 😂 The freeman don’t f… around
You. Knocked. It. Out. Of. The. Park. There are so many things I love about this gmod animation. The brutality of the kills, they don’t get shot and die instantly, they linger in pain. The soldiers aren’t machines they are humans who panic and freak out. Freeman from this point of view is a monster, from his point of view he’s just trying to survive.
I really like how you had the last guy break down in the middle of all that, that kid's probably in his early 20's and is just witnessing all his friends/allies around him get picked off by someone he can't even see 😥no wonder why he broke down. Excellent work though! I got really engaged and it actually made me feel scared of freeman.. we're so used to being him that when we take on the pov of his enemies, he can be a real force to be reckoned with.
Animation??? This is AAA quality drama. I am blown away, you perfectly illustrated how *terrifying* Freeman must have been to the Opposing Force! The speed the character can move, the accuracy of fire. . .and that emotionless, silent presence! Well done man! 👏👏👏👏👏
@@Minecraftineer998 Yeah, or like the Chernobyl miniseries, where the resonance cascade event could happen in episode one followed by 7-8 episodes flicking back and forth between different l characters, you could even rewrite the HEVC Marines in the initial wave to be genuinely trying to provide disaster relief for the staff of B.M only for the FEDs to send in Black OP teams to silence everyone, once the event was deemed irreversible. It's very fertile ground for a dark SciFi. But could cause massive brand damage for Valve if it was not handled properly.
Im glad you scammed us because honestly idk if I wouldve clicked on this if Gmod was in the title. You just opened my eyes to a whole new medium man! This is absolutely sick
It feels nice to see the HECU Marines being humanized as men just following orders since they really were screwed over in the half life lore during the Resonance Cascade.
This would’ve been a much better backstory for the main character of Hunt Down the Freeman lmao- not that it would make the game any better, but still 😂
Agreed watching all his friends die. And then then for the rest of the game Gordon unknownly fights Mitchell and defeats him and every hecu marine in a few battles each time Gordon slashes him with the crow bar leaving a new seat on his face. This would fit as Mitchell said. " Whatever it takes. Whoever it takes. Whatever I have I have to do before I die. I will kill you. "' This he probably say in the first or last encounter with Gordon Freeman. And each time Mitchell loses more of his men and friends die to Gordon hand and crowbar. And even though Gordon never sees Mitchell face. Mitchell would always remember Gordon Freeman as the man who his so many of his marine buddies.
I would like to see surrendering enemies in more games. There are so many games out there where you fight hordes of highly trained units who fling themselves at you without thought, despite witnessing dozens of the comrades being slaughtered before them.
entropy zero 2 actually did this pretty well. if an enemy is unarmed you can order them to surrender, or kick the gun out of their hands. of course, if you don't keep an eye on them they might run and find a weapon to shoot you in the back which makes sense.
The gradual smoothness of your animations is becoming more apparent with each one. I also liked the little moment at 0:16 with the marine brushing himself against the wall, it's the little things like that, that can give us an insight as to what a character's general mood is, or their habits, and so on. Side note, I loved the use of the Insurgency 1 voice lines since Mikey Tsarouhas voiced the Security in that game too.
I always love seeing fan films where you take a POV of basically any enemy soldier of a One Man Army type of video game and treating the main characters of the original franchise as basically horror movie villains
I'm amazed at your professionalism. Every frame of this movie is great. It is very noticeable that you are either studying to be a cinematographer / director or you just have a very good observation and developed taste. In any case, your work deserves the highest praise. Amazing, don't stop your creativity!
There's something very distinct about how SFM is rendered compared to Gmod in realtime. Regardless, that doesn't take away from the fact that this is very visually impressive and well made. Good work!
I love how freeman speared him. Let’s be honest tho that dude wouldn’t be spared by the players. Anyways this short film is amazing I love it so much great job
I was really hoping that the final reveal of Freeman was just going to be him running and jumping around like an absolute g-mod goon smashing crates, but good job nontheless!
@@unclelarry8842 Last time I played Black Mesa I bunnyhopped through this specific part lobbing cooked grenades, I was thinking about how silly an animation that played out like that instead would be
3:11 Freeman showed and was like, "You are not obviously mature enough to handle this! Now you sit there think what you done!" From Freeman Mind references.
This was so good! I love the coordination between the team members and the fact they don't just blindly charge like the Black Mesa AI always did. This reminds me of how much I love the AI in FEAR, and I really wish this game had squad coordination like that did.
I like HECU better than the Combine in the Half-Life universe. Instead of the "Contact confirmed. Engaging." like the Combine, I rather enjoy the "Contact! Contact! Engaging!" of the HECU. EDIT: You should also do a Half-Life 2 one called, "Officer Down", about Civil Protection in a gunfight against Rebels.
well Combine are literly made to be less human and be machine which can be more deadly then HECU which is but even they couldn't stand Freeman interaction
I love that the last one is spared, emphasizing the moral dilemna of Gordon having to kill fellow humans when there's clearly a much bigger threat everywhere you go. A morbid understanding of "following orders" from a simple theoretical physicist.
The background screaming after the explosive injuries really sold the atmosphere of the gunfight without focusing only on what was in frame. You set up the scene and it played out right. Great work, keep being creative my dude. :)
Love how you made Gordon look like a being that doesnt show emotion, but in reality, Gordon is still a human being caught up in shit, unable to process what is happening, only showing nothing on his face. Leaving the single Marine without finishing him off, because he either knows he’s seen through shit like this or he just needs to give the Marine a few minutes to process what just happened.
Whats scarier is the suit honestly gives him that strong an edge in combat. Could only imagine how many tranqs he's on to not breakdown at having to take human lives, even if it's self-defense.
wow! that really good animation here, good SFM quality for a GMOD animation! i love the story. giving a more human and realistic experience. after playing half life 1 and black mesa i feel like a monster.
I could tell from the lighting and the certain overlays that this wasn’t sfm. Surely a stick it to the face moment for those constantly asking “I thought this was sfm?”
I think the most depressing thing show is how the shotgunner quite literally fought to the end you stop hearing shotgun shots and instead pistol shots while Gordon never ran out of ammo
Insane work, brings it all to reality when it can strike my prior service in the marines, you really capture that they're just scared kids who are under way too much pressure. Loved it man!
You make me love the HECU more than anybody else in the Half life universe. Amazing attention to detail, atmosphere and of course animation. The amount of character you put into the characters is superb, hope you get more recognition because you deserve it.
RIP to the countless hours of sleep and quality time lost to make this masterpiece. im working on a 3d animation project of my own and i can only imagine how long this took
Holy shit, I think its a really cool detail actually showing Gordon at 0:33, the first time I saw this I didnt even notice, but the angle he's got makes him hard to see from the soldiers POV
One thing I love about this is bringing the internal thought I’ve always had to life. I’ve looked through so much Half Life SFM/Gmod animations and never saw much of Freeman. Everyone focuses on the other factions and how hard it is to not have his HEV Suit. All of these SFM Animations showing how powerful the combine are or how terrified the HECU are, and in turn how scary the alien forces are, also hyped up how fucking menacing and lethal Freeman is. It’s like I watch all these videos and go “Damn, Freeman squad wipes *this* ?” This shows me exactly that and I love it so much.
Bro what... I am genuinely shocked. I am an gmod/sfm addict since I can remember, and I have NEVER seen something this great. You can be proud of yourself man. Even kitty would be stunned :o
Bro I just noticed your fucking quality increased above the roof again. You are like the best if not one of the best animator I've seen on Half Life about HECU (probably the only one left that's still alive since I haven't seen much stuff comeout from other people), like damn I EXTREMELY fucking enjoy this type of animation, especially about HECU Marines since they're too fucking underrated in my opnion. By the way I wish I could find a way to send you some money, unfortunately I don't got paypal and I got only like local app shit restricted to my own country only, but I hope your cat get well soon, once again great video man, but yk don't rush it though if you're having trouble with life then deal with that first man, life comes first. As always keep it up man!
This is your best work so far. Absolutely incredible, probably one of the best if not THE best Garry's Mod animation I've ever seen. The movements are so insanely lifelike and realistic, it's hard to believe a lot of this isn't motion capture.
For the average HECU, Gordon is literally a terminator. You’re just manning your position before suddenly you hear metal footsteps and gunshots. You fire at the source, but all you hear is lead clanking against metal. Then, you see the orange suit devoid of humanity with its helmet. Nothing lies beyond the visor but your own karma.
This is the first HECU animation that have actual realistic marines phrases then the old HL1 and Opfor, although still seen SL having Beret but the yell of corpsman just on point.
3:10 Imgaine you were dying. Imgaine you were afraid; a long way from home in terrible and withering pain. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, you looked up, and saw the face of the devil himself.
Animation? Stop lying, this is so smooth it should be classed as live action or motion capture Imagine if this was live action when this marines legs blows off 1:13 "You're doing good man, ok you can stop screaming now. I said, Stop screaming in pain. Yes, i know we killed all of the actors."
OH PLEASE! I know it takes a bunch of time to animate but these 4 minutes are somehow still worth the entire progress and hardwork of yours! Your animations allways leave me speechless giving me motivation to work on my own projects and jeez, i've been waiting for months to finally witness another masterpiece of yours! INSANE QUALITY DUDE! Wish i could help you out with the cat by donating but i'm poor myself, but please, let everything be good with you and your cat, you're the best!!!
Holy crap this was masterfully done, LOVE the animation on the soldier who got startled and slipped down the stairs, it's so perfect with the movement/weight, how he grasps onto the steps but still stutter-falls down. The fact that the squad lacks cohesion once the lead is down and everyone starts doing their own thing makes for such a great narrative here. That ending is so *wonderful*, the only thing I would change for it is for it to fit into frame the dead scientists with the soldier on the ground, to show a nice parallel between the two. "I killed your guys, you killed civilians; who's the real monster here?"
omg bro, I assumed they were fighting the black ops because I was thinking, if they were fighting Gord he'll be sprinting around, jumping and blasting on full auto all the time, switching between his full arsenal of weaponry like a madman. He's a madman in this one alright, but in such a grim dark manner, that was 100% one of the best Half-Life animations I've ever seen to date. The choice of soundtrack for Gord's entrance was perfect too.
I do love how you never see Gordon until the very end, makes him this unknown monster. But if it were more in line with the games Gordon would be more like a bulldozer. I think back to that 'Astardes' series but with the HECU soldiers setting up a firing position only for Gordon to blow through it in seconds.
Your animations genuinely inspire me to make some similar stuff, but instead relating to F.E.A.R. or Trepang2 Edit: Ik it seems pretty far fetched, but my headcanon was that in between him graduating High School and going to MiT, I like to believe Gordon had some form of military training, hell, even being a former member of the HECU. This explains why he is so proficient in their weaponry and can go toe-to-toe with squads of them.
Yea, maybe I could port one of the maps and try to make a way for it to work. Probably around the final mission. It is literally perfect since the enemy operators you fight against already know how much of a living weapon Subject 106 is.
Nah, he receives hazardous environment and weapons training from Black Mesa as part of their HEV teams. It's a mixture of his adaptability, his intellect and his gear that makes him so impossible to defeat. He's smarter than them, has power armor and has already fought several squads by the time he reaches this point. Some people just are like that. There's plenty of men who've fought in real wars that make Gordon Freeman look like a light weight in comparison with how effective they are, and most of them weren't even trained as well as the HECU would be.
absolutely fantastic, the cinematography, story telling, atmosphere, sound design, and especially the animation! :D GREAT work man, i can't believe you pulled this all off in GMOD no less! incredible work!

0:40 I love the realism of the reaction, then the proper grenade throw
i thought the same! its as if it was motion captured. so crazy
You have done it again man. Another incredibly great animation by your hand.
I like how Gordon spared the poor traumatised guy. He is the same guy that says "This is messed up man" meaning he feels shit enough about the orders they were given to say it out loudly. Gordon recognised that he was no threat anymore. Gordon is a high trained professional, not a murderer.
professionals have standards
Professionals do indeed have standards @@ooglybooglyman
I like that we get to see the HECU's perspective when it comes to fighting Freeman. And I also love how Freeman, in turn, isn't just portrayed as a blood thirsty Phyco. (Witch is how most people play in half life 1)
Great job, man, really knocked it out of the park.
I can’t Imagine highly trained marines getting ass kicked, humiliated and traumatized by a badass silent nerdy scientist with orange tank suit and his trusty crowbar that explains why Gordon is highly trained professional lmao 😂
The freeman don’t f… around
They weren't joking when they said he's a highly trained professional
You. Knocked. It. Out. Of. The.
H.E.C.U training prepares you for a lot of situations. Getting crowbarred by a guy in a orange space suit is not one of them.
I love 0:39 where you can see Gordon if you zoom in!! SO MUCH ATTENTION TO DETAIL I LOVE IT
Really glad you didn't make Gordon execute the last soldier, really made him feel human. Bravo man, bravo!
This is really good dude. What Hunt Down the Freeman wanted to be lol.
Agreed
Animation???
This is AAA quality drama. I am blown away, you perfectly illustrated how *terrifying* Freeman must have been to the Opposing Force! The speed the character can move, the accuracy of fire. . .and that emotionless, silent presence!
Well done man! 👏👏👏👏👏
this right here is why we need a fuckin like HBO Band of Brothers tier series for this franchise.
The lack of a clear look at Gordon (until the end) works pretty well for showing the chaos of a firefight
Im glad you scammed us because honestly idk if I wouldve clicked on this if Gmod was in the title. You just opened my eyes to a whole new medium man! This is absolutely sick
watch my recommended channels
It feels nice to see the HECU Marines being humanized as men just following orders since they really were screwed over in the half life lore during the Resonance Cascade.
This would’ve been a much better backstory for the main character of Hunt Down the Freeman lmao- not that it would make the game any better, but still 😂
Agreed watching all his friends die. And then then for the rest of the game Gordon unknownly fights Mitchell and defeats him and every hecu marine in a few battles each time Gordon slashes him with the crow bar leaving a new seat on his face. This would fit as Mitchell said. "
Whatever it takes.
It never ceases to amaze me how your Gmod animations can be on par with most SFMs films. Absolutely incredible and excellent work!
The gas mask breathing is something I felt stood out. It made the scenes that much more intense to me. Excellent work!
Silent protagonists must be so terrifying from the enemies' perspective.
I am studying cinema 🥹
There's something very distinct about how SFM is rendered compared to Gmod in realtime. Regardless, that doesn't take away from the fact that this is very visually impressive and well made. Good work!
Apparently according to the description, this IS Gmod. Wow.
I prefer this one, it shows what Gordon looks like to the HECU. A ruthless and unstoppable terminator that destroys everything in it's path.
@@unclelarry8842 Last time I played Black Mesa I bunnyhopped through this specific part lobbing cooked grenades, I was thinking about how silly an animation that played out like that instead would be
3:11 Freeman showed and was like, "You are not obviously mature enough to handle this! Now you sit there think what you done!"
From Freeman Mind references.
2:03 damn.. what a 1000 yard stare, Atmosphere...
Damn I was not expecting Freeman, thought it was multiple Black Ops! Insanely good video!
Thank you for portraying Gordon Freeman as not just a protagonist who kills all of his enemies, but just a scientist who wants to survive as well😢
can this PLEASE be the one that thrusts JoAcoNS into the spotlight now
:'v
Insane work, brings it all to reality when it can strike my prior service in the marines, you really capture that they're just scared kids who are under way too much pressure. Loved it man!
You make me love the HECU more than anybody else in the Half life universe. Amazing attention to detail, atmosphere and of course animation. The amount of character you put into the characters is superb, hope you get more recognition because you deserve it.
RIP to the countless hours of sleep and quality time lost to make this masterpiece. im working on a 3d animation project of my own and i can only imagine how long this took
:D....
@@joaconsdo you have fun making these?
@@Sapphiregamer8605 of course xd
Holy shit, I think its a really cool detail actually showing Gordon at 0:33, the first time I saw this I didnt even notice, but the angle he's got makes him hard to see from the soldiers POV
me when you have **Black Mesa: Character Expansion** installed:
One thing I love about this is bringing the internal thought I’ve always had to life. I’ve looked through so much Half Life SFM/Gmod animations and never saw much of Freeman. Everyone focuses on the other factions and how hard it is to not have his HEV Suit.
All of these SFM Animations showing how powerful the combine are or how terrified the HECU are, and in turn how scary the alien forces are, also hyped up how fucking menacing and lethal Freeman is. It’s like I watch all these videos and go “Damn, Freeman squad wipes *this* ?”
This shows me exactly that and I love it so much.
he leans over and says "hey Marine, your boot laces aren't tucked, that's why this happened" then leaves
1:33 WAS THAT VOICED BY ACCURSED FARMS!?
who knows
Bro has great talent
While story maybe absent but the animation really caught me off guard and made in Gmod gave me a double off guard
nice animation to let people see things from the hecu's perspective
For the average HECU, Gordon is literally a terminator. You’re just manning your position before suddenly you hear metal footsteps and gunshots. You fire at the source, but all you hear is lead clanking against metal. Then, you see the orange suit devoid of humanity with its helmet. Nothing lies beyond the visor but your own karma.
THIS IS EXCELLENT. Well gone. I always thought I should make a movie or serious of the Half Life 2 for example, with suspisodes 1 and 2
the thumbnail itself looks amazing, idk how godly the video will be
You did something alot of people dont do when they animate Gordon, which is make him human. He is still a guy with empathy
This is the first HECU animation that have actual realistic marines phrases then the old HL1 and Opfor, although still seen SL having Beret but the yell of corpsman just on point.
ik about the SL, but i didnt know how to present him as the leader without voice actors xd
Had to rely on visual stuff
The HECU are implied to be a fictional joint ops unit using both army and marine assets
3:10
Imgaine you were dying. Imgaine you were afraid; a long way from home in terrible and withering pain.
Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, you looked up, and saw the face of the devil himself.
Animation?
Stop lying,
this is so smooth it should be classed as live action or motion capture
Imagine if this was live action when this marines legs blows off 1:13
"You're doing good man, ok you can stop screaming now.
I said, Stop screaming in pain. Yes, i know we killed all of the actors."
It's soo good to see half life is getting more and more recognition. In 2013-2022 it just silent
I did wanted to show the scientists more directly, but didnt know how
Tyy
Shotgunner was honestly goated
Fr, dude went charging in after his squad mates got taken down.
From the sound of it, dude even put up a better fight than the rest of his squad combined lol.
@@nicknamed1267 Shotgunners in black mesa dont fuck around they mess you up easily when they rush xd
omg bro, I assumed they were fighting the black ops because I was thinking, if they were fighting Gord he'll be sprinting around, jumping and blasting on full auto all the time, switching between his full arsenal of weaponry like a madman. He's a madman in this one alright, but in such a grim dark manner, that was 100% one of the best Half-Life animations I've ever seen to date. The choice of soundtrack for Gord's entrance was perfect too.
"You don't win wars by killing civilians...but you sure can start them." -Dark Freeman
1:56 what a shot. Amazing work, man!
The animation is so smooth and brutal, I love it!
This wasn't a Fan Animation. This was Cinema.
Amazing work as always.
This is for the cat 😁
Thank youuauUu
I do love how you never see Gordon until the very end, makes him this unknown monster. But if it were more in line with the games Gordon would be more like a bulldozer.
I think back to that 'Astardes' series but with the HECU soldiers setting up a firing position only for Gordon to blow through it in seconds.
Your animations genuinely inspire me to make some similar stuff, but instead relating to F.E.A.R. or Trepang2
Edit: Ik it seems pretty far fetched, but my headcanon was that in between him graduating High School and going to MiT, I like to believe Gordon had some form of military training, hell, even being a former member of the HECU. This explains why he is so proficient in their weaponry and can go toe-to-toe with squads of them.
Ayo wacrobat wassup homie
@@ScoutTrooperMan YO YO YO YO
Trepang2 would be perfect
Yo I heard this was made in gmod, gotta respect that tho
