About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

The idea of a Bowie purest baffles me.
All of his stuff is golden.
I think he would balk at the *idea* of purism. Remember that one time in the '90s when he practically rewrote The Man Who Sold the World for a tour?
that baffled me as well. i consider myself a purist and let's dance is my least favorite Bowie album
@@dianefox1307 I have to agree as Lets Dance seemed to aim at the top 40 while Bowie was above that in my heart. Of course the man deserved the riches so I am glad he did it for himself.
@@dianefox1307 You prefer something like Never Let me Down or the Labyrinth soundtrack or the debut album over Let's Dance? No shade, really interested in your opinion as that actually baffled me.
Fun fact: Dave Grohl played guitar on Bowie’s Heathen album for the song “I’ve been waiting for you”. The song was also originally written by Neil Young.
Bowie was a genius. He was so far ahead of the times.RIP starman, soar with the angels.💯❤🙏
Amen! 🙏🏼♥️🕊 I hope he’s jamming with my late husband. I never liked Grohl. Bowie was so far ahead of most musicians. ✌🏼💐
Or, with the extraterrestrial species, rather.
I miss you Bowie. Rest in peace
This was beautiful. I respect Dave so much, and hearing him talk about Bowie is so heartwarming 🖤
I agree

Bowie was very special to me. I used to get my hair cut like him in the late 70's. It was just so strange at the time, no one understood. I dragged my boyfriend to The Man That Fell To Earth. He kept wanting to leave,so we left half way through. I never saw the end until years late on some late night movie. Bowie was always Changing, and he was so fun to watch him make new personalities.🙋♀️🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜🌼🌹💜 Dave , l really like the Foo Fighters too. The song you did with Mick Jagger was very awesome 👌 👏 👍 😎 😀. Both of you were great.

Hey Kathy 😁
Shame on your boyfriend! Haha
I hate living in a world without Bowie.
Makes me wish I could've been so lucky as to have Happy New year messages from David Bowie in June.
Love hearing from people that knew Bowie. The way they speak so highly of him proves what a lovely man he was.
the solo from Stevie Ray Vaughan is so fu**ing brilliant. love this song! Dave was here, with coherent rays from far away!
It's amazing indeed. He uses the classic bending string style he got from his idol Albert King. Bowie was one the very first famous act to see SRV in Mountreux and year after inviteded him to play on his record which i think is super cool!!
@@ThiagodMoraes Nice!
Bowie no quiso grabar con Dave Grohl y lo insultó por mail
Es verdad. No le agradaba
Sì però lo mandò a la mierda un poco bromeando, con estilo
Thanks to Bowie, I strongly learned to live my own way. Thankful. David Bowie is an eternal rock star★
I ave learned to live on mz own waz bz the mediation of Sinatra.
BOWIE IS ALWAYS IN HIS OWN WORLD
LOVE THISSS ✨
I didn't really discover Bowie until much later in my life, but he was always there playing in the background. I don't know why it took me so long. Just like Grohl I really feel like there was something otherworldly about Bowie. I feel like it's much deeper than his persona. He was one of those incredibly rare Humans completely driven by creativity, like he'd breached some kind of artistic genius barrier so many others can't get through. It's hard to explain, but it just feels like he transcended beyond something 99.99% of creative people can't.
Nobody can know Savior is walking in flesh here and not know Bowie is the greatest 1 portrayed himself as light; THE true door to above! Man who fell to earth ; black star; its so obvious once you begin see study All modern prophets!!! YES I SAID PROPHET!!!
Dave can talk so passionate over a lot of things it's always a great watch.
Is it?is it really?
@@titteryenot1136 Your reply is really passionate... I like you.
@@coachtomas do you?do you really?
WHY DID YOU STOP being a CSN fan ??
"David Bowie is" that sentence makes me sad and longing.
Love Dave, adore & miss David…Bowie never seemed like an alien to me, a chameleon, absolutely. God bless Dave for remembering Bowie & celebrating his 75th birthday. I was just telling my husband it’s been 6 years now, since his shocking death, January 10th, 2016 & I still mourn him.❤️
I can't listen to his last album because then I'll have to except that he's gone. 👩🎤🧑🎤👨🏿🎤👩🏻🎤👨🏼🎤👨🎤🧑🏽🎤🧑🏿🎤👩🏿🎤
I cried more, and longer, for Bowie's passing, than for any other human being. Didnt cry as much for my parents deaths! I always thought Bowie was eternal. And maybe he is..
Thank you for this ....you are so right about David. I enjoyed your comments! So true. I have never put my finger on the different!
Oddly one of my favourites is 1995's Outside, it has a similar aesthetic to The Man Who Sold the World as it delves into madness which was something David Bowie often worried about given his brother Terry's experiences.
Love Bowie and I totally agree about 'let's dance'. He gets so much grief for what came afterwards-- But my God, what a monument that record is.
I really like Dave Grohl he is described as the nice guy of rock, maybe he took some leaves out of David's book!!He is a great artist and very cool to think David was his inspiration.......Inspiration from the "Best" gives you great goals to aspire to.......
I just love how many famous musicians cite Bowie as an influence or at least appreciated and liked his music. 'Let's Dance' IS a Masterpiece, he's right. Dave Grohl always comes across as a decent man, I like him 😘
I thought he would tell the story of when he was in the studio with him. I don't remember which recording it was but I remember what he said in a interview at the time that Bowie sat on the floor surrounded by papers photos etc and wrote the lyrics on a piece of paper then when they finished he left and left the piece of paper there. Grohl said that all the people in the room stared at that piece of paper like a bunch of dogs at a bone and in the end it was him who took the paper and he put it in a frame at his house.
I love that Grohl owns loving Let's Dance. I loved it, and tried to emulate his look, but was later disappointed to learn he didn't like that phase of his career (or so it seemed). Of course, the musical foodies of the world suddenly looked on it with disdain.
I think Bowie liked lets dance as an album, it was more the result of that albums success that he didn't like. The albums tonight and never let me down and the subsequent tours are what he always talked shit about
I got high with Dave Grohl backstage in 91. Still waiting to get my lighter back...
Love David Bowie forever and ever and ever and never give up!😘🥰🤗♥️
Everyone says Hi!⭐️♥️⭐️♥️
The best is yet to come!🙏🌏
Omg David and Dave ❤️
Dave negated to mention the drummer on Let’s Dance: Tony Thompson
Let's Dance is your fav? Really!??
I’m surprised he said “Let’s Dance” was his fave Bowie album. I would’ve guessed “The Man Who Sold The World” or “Hunky Dory”.
From “Space Oddity” to “Scary Monsters…” there wasn’t a duff album. 12 classic LP’s on the trot!
Grohl was a teen when that album came up. It’s videos were playing on MTV probably nonstop. I know in Europe they were playing nonstop. Let’s dance and China girl are imprinted on many of our brains. That said, his earlier stuff is my favorite.
A very predictable choice. Guitars and drums were heavily accentuated on Let's Dance like no other album he produced. This non- extraterrestrial Dave is highly proficient on both instruments and proud to push them to a similar forefront position whenever he can.
I think for most of us GenXers, Let’s Dance was our first Bowie album that we actually owned, THEN we found his earlier albums after that. We were in our early-middle teens by then.
Dave is right, Bowie was from another planet and too awesome for this world. However, I'm glad he graced us with his presence and also, like Dave said, Bowie will live forever.
thank you from Brasil!
Bowie was different
bowie is so awesome in spirit and so full of life. rock on!! xoxo princess
Um dos melhores cantores de todos os tempos..
Uma lenda da música mundial.
Aqui de Imperatriz Ma, para o mundo
Bowie is a legend. He went out at 69 which is the most rockstar thing to do. He was the director of his fate. He turned his death into a performance. Sadly, no encore this time from the Starman. Perhaps the sun machine will come down one day and we'll all have a party... Until then we still have his music.
David G. on David B. 😂
Let's Dance is a great album, but personally as a drummer my favorite to play along to is 1.Outside, closely follwed by The Next Day
He is very well floating in the space and still healing the earth❤️
Bowie was with me from 1975 to 2017. I felt like he was talking to me. Oh look out you Rock n Rollers
I'm a Rush and Zeppelin devotee but Blackstar was one of the most inspirational videos ever I've seen. He's a Saint in the collective unconcious.
Dave Grohl always knows the right words
I ❤️, love, love David Bowie! Since very young! I was at a Dessert Bar in Midtown, celebrating when I was called about his transition by my son, Malky, who also loves him . I appreciated hearing the news from my son versus the news. David Bowie is family to us. God blessed the Universe and us with Stellar David Bowie! 💋
My boyfriend sent me an email. I was devastated. I cried like a baby.
@@joycampi7233 Awww
I know we live in a world of short attention span… but c’mon - give us more
I’m a 90s kid who came on board with a 50 year old producing an industrial rock album. My kids think I’m old now lol
I love Dave sooo much! He's so cute, friendly, down-to-earth and sincere! I enjoy listening to him. God bless him. 😘😘😘😘😘
I knew Let's Dance Reminded me of Somebody's Drumming.... What Do Ya Know? Dave Grohl and Nirvana💧🌊⛱️❄️
That's not true, they're clearly two different people.
IN MEMORY OF THE SLAIN HERO AND HIS RESURRECTION
You roared like a Lion in Manhattan, you spent all your money and lived like a king...you fought the battles of the Lord and came to destitution. You cried out in the gates of the city like a leper Messiah, and none gave heed to your call except the outcasts and dregs of society. You gathered them together as a shepherd gathers his sheep...they came to life at your words, your art and your reckless abandon of all convention. You piped a wondrous tune and the light of light entered into them.
You fell into the shadow of death and " looked for his ass". You flew from Station to Station like a demon in your mad quest for redemption--- you redeemed others, yet you didn't redeem yourself. How have the mighty fallen! Your days passed like a shadow, yet you fought the evil eye of Sauron...you fought the wild beasts in the forests of Mordor....the hordes of Gog and Magog descended upon you. They surrounded you like maddened bees, yet you cut them off in the name of the Lord. But Gog had the upper hand and slew you...he desecrated your body, he infested your temple with the wasting disease! Yet you held on to the last and made an everlasting memory of your strife, the cries of your art told the tale of your war, it told the gospel of your death, it published the news of your ascension...here you are, dwelling in heaven, no scars to be seen...here you are, one magical movement from Keter to Malkuth! Here you are, you fly like an angel from Station to Station! Fly on you crazy diamonds, and arise from the dust...the time of your warfare is past...
He walks among us like a god among men...and who can tell his tale? He was not regarded by the high and mighty, he was cast off as a freak of nature....yet he gathered the outcasts of Israel...his memory endures forever!
He will be given the spoils of war, he will be raised and exalted more than he ever was during the days of his mortality...he is the hope of all of those who have fallen in battle! Shine on, shine on you mad Man, you Hero, you Lazarus, you Blackstar!
Whatever his skills, Dave sure ain't no beauty - which is why Foo Fighters will never be the band that Nirvana was. The ladies don't dig him lol. It's like the members of Radiohead vs. Coldplay. Which one sold more albums?
No album is even comparable to 1.Outside!
Why he talk about? ...he strives to be friends of every dead cool musician from 60s 70s and 80s... he’s trying as much as he can with all his effort
Well said Dave!!
Someone said that "David Bowie is the Pablo Picasso of Rock n roll", couldn't agree more!!
What a gift you were given by David Bowie!
CSN was awesome 👏 So was ur movie 666!!! Rip Taylor ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️
Jack Stevens.
Something terribly wrong when a popstar talks about DB as though he is one , once you've heard and lived inside those 500 songs or so over a very long period it all becomes so clear !
he felt like an alien. out of this world. he change his appearances so much. his first look, seven years in tibet look, hallo spaceboy chad look and miserably (sorry but this is the truth) looking falling star
Yay! Let's Dance was the first cassette I ever bought and I was still in junior high.
While being generally popular David Bowie was also a musician's musician.
Shame you didn’t share the story of you wanting him to sing with your band a song you wrote and he said fuck of its rubbish 😂😂😂😂
Bowie Forever Dave, Forever and Ever. Miss you David. In his words - We live closer to the earth, Never to the heavens, The stars are never far away, Stars are out tonight.
Hope to meet you out there Starman. ✨💖
I like the story about Bowie hiring limos under Mick Jaggers name when he shared an accountant with The Stones
Let's dance????? That had to be one of his worst albums. Oh well to each his own I guess.
Wasn't expecting that album choice. Inspired
the Best
In his own admission let’s dance was his worst album Dave oops!🥴

Just as I suspected, David Bowie is- Dave Grohl.
I REMEMBER DAVID BOWIE FROM HIS EARLIEST YEARS ON THE RADIO IN IOWA IN THE SIXTIES. LONG LIVE DAVID JONES.
Yawn. I found this underwhelming.
Fan fuct: Bowie invited Grohl to play on Heathen
David Bowie skies forever
Wow, Grohl, love you more from today on for your love of Let's dance!
Miss you Bowie
I love Bowie and you love Bowie so vicariously you love me too
Just like Kurt they changed the world
Stevie Ray Vaughan plays on that album too!
I Have Nothing But Respect For Dave Grohl , Especially When He's Talking About His Friend David Bowie .
Bowie wore a suit and hat better than anyone he made me want to see a Bogart movie.
As Gary Numan and Ace Frehley also seemed alien !
