Hey man I just want to give a shout out and compliment you how great a tone and feel u have in ur guitar demo videos,. I was watching your Privettricker last video announcement and hearing how other people have given you such a hard time on youtube, I just want to tell you are the best here on youtube dont let those other trolls bring you down honestly peace.
Top of the Pops I believe is the show Bowie is on. The footage was only found about 2 years ago. The BBC had chucked the original footage away. The camera guy using the fish eye lense lucky enough kept another copy and stored it in garage for about 40 years!
Yes, glad I found this channel - I'm over from Privetricker. I've been playing on and off for 40 odd years now but I still learn things from your videos. Thank for posting!
Saw Ziggy at the Santa Monica Civic back in the day. Only time with Rono. But did see Ian H. and Mick here in S.D.. Saw David with Earl Slick mostly and also C. Alomar and Frampton filled in for Stevie Ray when he coped out the last minute. Party'd with Earl S. at the Airport Hotel next to the Forum after the show one night with my Bud who worked the ShowCo crew . David never showed up so some girls in the lobby were invited up and it was a night to remember ! Earl played with David till the day he passed. Saw an early Earl Slick ax recently for sale but dont know who Manufactured it. Looked like a Danelectro in that shitty green they used with his name stenciled on the head. Ronson still had the best raw sound I ever heard ! So Sand that Les Paul down to the bones and lets hear you do some wah On "She Shook Me Cold" ! You Jam James ! Stay warm and cozy back there !
"guitarhangar' check him out. he says he has Mick's Ziggy ax and your right it was a blackie. Thought it was a gold..Your white one is a gem ! Dont even think about it !
Excellent! Well done sir, well done indeed. I do recall it, as the DJ made great play of it that David Bowie and the Spiders were going to play 'live' in the studio. That made it very clear that the norm was pre-recording and mimeing. The DJ really went overboard...and it was great. Then I forgot about it until it featured on BBC4 when the broadcast Top of the Pops programmes and re-discovered the tape. I think it might have been one where a Studio hack took it home with him, as we now know sometimes happened. Ronson was an excellent musician and Guitar God in the great tradition. Great stuff, thanks for showing how it does it. Now, I just need to get to barre chords - yes, really. :-)
been watching some of van morrisons live stuff from when he put the band together with dr.john, mick ronson on guitar, guy is such a. beast, nice to see him in a slightly more jazz/funk type of band.I Love micks playing
I know you don't like comments, because I quit for the same reasons, negativity! Your technique is generally spot on! If your name is James, cool! Many great guitarists names were and are James. Like me and my son. He went to Duke now US Navy. Turkey. 4th tour with a Marine platoon. Keep up the great work. I play mandolin too among keys and am a vocalist, I started playing classical guitar in 1966 and quickly went to electric. Now mostly my 70 year old classical I named baby girl. Beautiful guitar made by a holocaust survivor. Keep it up! Jimmy Lee Valentine.
I had to stop and tell you.. your tone here is absolutely excellent... would you mind telling me what your amp settings are and what pedals your using? Again, the sound is just great, it cuts right through
nice one. bassist Trevor Bolder famously goes to the first chorus a bar early- he was requested to always play it that way, much to his disliking. Ronson has a great tone- I think he uses a cocked wah pedal. some furious strummin' at the end- you play like you mean it. woof! does David's harp sound a bit like " Love Me Do" when it starts? ♫ Ü
I love and have been chasing Ronno's tone since I was a teenager. The biggest component was the Marshall 200 he played through, turned up all the way (the 3 knob amp, not the later one known as the Major) then he had the wah and a Solasound Mk I tonebender. An expensive and difficult tone to accomplish for sure
Nice video! When you played the refrain, you played a flat A chord, should it not be a flat B chord on 7th fret? ( I learned it yesterday during guitarlesson) and after The Jean Genie let yourself go, then you played flat A chord how it should be played als in original. How you played the intro before you played E A E A...?, which chord and strumming pattern? Keep on going this job

I've actually thought about stripping the paint off the top of it. But then I'd have to paint the rest black.

Awesome playing! Love the cream plastic and gold knobs on the Custom. Better than factory!
I think so!
Love it...playing it all day today!

I like comments just fine. I just don't like jerks.
Who would? ;) You got me interested in starting a band again. Never too old, just the voice is fading. Not hard to find musicians in Texas!
Just great man - never stop eh :-)
Thank you.
PS: Do you jam Width of a Circle? I loved mick Ronson! RIP David. Hard to believe it is over a year and where can I get the lad insane shirt? ;) JV
