Bowie's "Aladdin Sane" almost knocked me out in 1973 ! Still one of my favourites. My great respect to Mr. Bowie and Mr. Mick Ronson. My love for you will last !!!
Yeah the Sweet ripped off this riff, Bowie made this in October 1972 well before the Sweet looked like a bunch of Bricklayers dressed in satin and tat.
It would have been nice to pay tribute to the late Mick Ronson. He's one of the most overlooked of all the great guitar heroes, and Bowie's early sound wouldn't have been the same without him. As Bowie said at the time, he'd "found his Jeff Beck" when he added Ronson to the band.
Nice Jon. When I play the open E riff I just kinda roll and flatten my ring finger to play the A and then roll back to the E( lazy I know.😁) Thanks for the lesson.👍🎸
That works too. It's good to think that way as a guitarist, I'm lazy that way as well, but it's more like just the minimum effective dose. Keep up the great progress Tracey!
I think it was in 1972, that two songs topped the UK chart, at Number 1 and Number 2, with the very same guitar riff. The other song was 'Blockbuster' by Sweet.
Thank you so much Jon. Could you please do a tutorial on Smiling Eyes, by Showaddywaddy?. It's a beautiful song. I have wanted to play it, and solo since I was Kid, many moons ago. Take care.
Hi Jon, The Jean Genie, what a great idea ! Thx a lot ! Maybe you could make the same with The Prettiest Star and/or Drive in Saturday ? 2 great songs of the same Album (Aladdin Sane )?
@@stanleykostrzewski7222 I saw them live several times in the 70s and Robson played his Les Paul. Read the credits on the album track rather than watching a promotional video.
He’s not saying Bowie was on guitar, he’s saying you’re going to learn the song on guitar. Anyone who’s into music knows Ronson was the guitarist in the Spiders. 👍🏼

Nice! It would be useful to know what distortion / overdrive settings you used? 💥
Well done 👏

This can also be called a Sweet "Blockbuster" guitar tutorial also.

The guitar on this song is all about attitude.

I seem to recall that The Sweet were sued by Bowie and lost.
@@clowncarqingdao Interesting! I didn't know that.
@@rodmac8358 same record label too,RCA.
Their is a slight differance between Block Buster and this

tHANKS A LOT
Good lesson. How about the Earl Slick solo from the David Live album? Just kidding. That would be a real trip, tho. Cheers!
I know it's complicated but l would love to learn the Johnny Winter version of "Don't take advantage of me"
How about doing the solo?
Hi ....how about heart like a wheel by steve miller
Great Lesson Jon Could you do a lesson on a Steve Wariner song "The Weekend"?
Thanks Jon, I still need to get your free link stuff. (Now we know where The Black Keys borrowed for "Gold on the Ceiling") 😁
Well you're missing out on all the good stuff! Just listened to the Black Keys tune. Yeah totally a similar riff. Thanks for watching.

Si ma la tabs dove sta?Perché sul titolo mettete scritto tabs e poi non esiste?
Mick Ronson on guitar, not Bowie 😕
Have you seen the "official video" ? Bowie on electric guitar .
@@stanleykostrzewski7222 I saw them live several times in the 70s and Robson played his Les Paul. Read the credits on the album track rather than watching a promotional video.
I saw him live also , twice in 72 . What a privilege that was.....
These are all Mick Ronsons riffs ! On the albums and live . Without Mick Ronson , Bowies star would have shone much later .......

Rock n roll music Chuck Berry../ the Beatles
"It's BLUES".... LOL
Not how ronson plays the chorus and do not think it is the right chord. Think he has the verse wrong too but not sure
😂
Ummmm,... you certainly messed it up... this is NOT how Mick played it... and you forgot the signature riff.... just ain't right at all....
