Would be interesting to see what cars have the worst dollar per horsepower.
bmw i3
probably mostly full of multimillion dollar hypercars, exclude those and I'd expect Porsches to land near the top, though I don't know if they could top the Aventador SVJ's number or a couple others of that price
maybe some Rolls-Royce or something too?

@@harrison5280 Probably close, but I'm going to guess it's the Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for $70 million in 2018 (imagine what it would go for now). With 296hp, that's $0.00000422857 per Italian stallion.... or lame haflinger's.
I would actually love to see a used market version of this vid! comparing the average costs like the golf gti and lots more would be insane value per hp.
Which is practically impossible due to the infinite number of variables.
@@mofayer you can get sites that show a rough average. Not too hard. Doesn't have have to be perfect

my n54 is about 5$ per hp

Was wondering if the LT1 would be the top of the list. It really is a fantastic value, I love mine so much.
I love mine too. Not only is is fast as a MF, but it handles and is comfortable, AND doesn't get garbage fuel economy on the hwy
Would love to see this series with used cars, with cars like a c4 corvette hitting pretty hard 🐎
I mean, it would be a fair bit harder to calculate due to used price differences. My ‘93 had 29 dollars a horse, but what about somebody who bought them a couple years ago during the price bottom-out?
I got a '97 grand cherokee for $500 one time, that made 190 hrspr. comes out to $2.63 per hrs. gonna be hard to beat that (at least, for a car that actually runs, that one ran, and refused to die for 4 years, and was still running when I junked it, it was just clapped out beyond belief)

Yeah my 07 manual yaris hatch I got for 2500$ would be at around 23$ per hp. This would be a great list. Pick a good example with like around 50-100k miles and see what you can get. Although a much better example would be around 5k.

High Road is a 2011 American improvised comedy film directed by Matt Walsh, who co-wrote it with Josh Weiner. The film surrounds a young man whose loyalties are torn between his band, girlfriend, and dealing weed. Attempting to elude arrest after a drug bust, he is accompanied by his teenage runaway neighbor. It stars James Pumphrey, Abby Elliott, Dylan O'Brien, and Rob Riggle. It also premiered at the 2011 Newport Beach Film Festival, where for Matt Walsh's directing, it won an honor for Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking.[1]

My 2009 Jaguar XF SV8 came with a 420 hp supercharged 4.2L V8 for an MSRP of $69k. That's $164 per hp. Not too bad, but I bought it used for $12k two years ago netting me those buff horsies for $28 per hp. Add in a pulley swap and tune and it's pushing 500 hp.

I work on a fleet of vehicles for a police department and the ones that consistently break and need a ton of expensive repairs are the "modern" Chevy V8 LS engines. They always need a camshaft replaced with low miles or a transmission replaced with low miles. The old Ford Crown Victoria cars in the fleet never break and the 5.0 Coyotes engines never break. I would never buy a Chevy no matter how cheap the horsepower is you will lose money on consistent repair costs, tow bills, and shoes from walking

Would be interesting to see what cars have the best VALUE / POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO
“Don’t get lost in the sticks” yeah literally no one wants to get lost in the boondocks
This has always been a poor measurement that started with some cars that needed this kinda flex despite being lackluster. I think a better measurement would be 0 to 60 per dollars. Or dollars per second. Because we all know doesn't matter the horsepower you got if you lose to a "weaker" car.
0-60 is an overrated measurement as well but you do have a point
@@nathaniel5157 I agree to an extent. But my point of the matter is there has been cars with 400hp losing to cars with 310hp only for both to lose to a heavier V6 powered 300hp car. Horsepower ratings just ain't all that in that kind of retrospect.
The LT1 would still win. There isn't another car that runs 4 seconds 0-60, and mid to low 12s in the quarter mile for $35K (price is increasing $1800 for the 2023 models.).

The visibility is pretty awful but you get used to it and learn to just use those horses so it only matters what's in front of you haha. I paid $36k for mine optioned out.

The 6th gen Camaros are such a gem and a shame that it's struggled so much with sales. Not only do they have the most hrsprs/$ but they also have the best handling out of the muscle cars, also have the most stunning futuristic concept-like design for the price AND they have all the modern-day tech you could need with a 2LT trim. What more could you want? I feel bad for Chevy. Because of the underwhelming response, they are killing off the Camaro.
If the sixth generation Camaro is “such a gem” as you say, we wouldn’t be talking about how the platform flopped.
To begin, you complimented its looks. They’re controversial at best, with the majority of people holding a negative opinion.
In terms of classification, it is in line with a sports car. The Challenger and Charger are regarded as being among the last muscle cars.
The Camaro platform handles well and the LS is capable of putting down power, but GM hasn’t innovated beyond that in years. It’s the equivalent of GM releasing a refresh of the C7 instead of the C8. People get bored when they’re presented with the same product every year.
Not to mention poor visibility, a dated interior and a higher comparative cost across the lineup.
@@jman6970 You took the time to write a long comment but I don't think you've done enough research or have any first hand experience. Word of mouth is usually pretty crappy about the Camaros I've noticed. You're talking about no innovation since LS, fr? 6th gen doesn't even have a LS motor. They provided 3 different motor options and ALL of them were new innovations and extremely capable in their class. I'll talk about their new V6 motor, the LGX, because that's what I have. It's extremely capable and holds it's own against most NA V8s at the time it came out and even today, atleast from 0-120mph, so basically until the only thing that matters is raw HP. The only V8 it couldn't compete with was it's own big brother. It even goes neck and neck with a 5th gen V8 Camaro.
Now for design, yes it has moved away from the classic muscle car look and has embraced sports car features and I've noticed majority of oldies and muscle car nerds don't like this. But with just a few cosmetic mods, I've personally gotten tons of compliments from regular people and car enthusiasts and I believe it's largely due to the shape, stance and bodylines of the car, which makes it stand apart from most cars on the road. It's not a 'Oh cool car' compliment like most modded cars, more like 'Oh man that's beeeautiful'. Personally I think it's very rare for a $30k car. Now for interior, it is a BIG step up from 5th gen and I've gotten compliments about that as well, because it does look cool at first look. It is no BMW or Mercedes in interior design and especially materials, but you can barely complain when you get the same HP as twice the price tag from those brands.
90% of Camaro owners don't have problem with visibility after owning it for a while and especially since 6th gen offers blind spot monitor. Most supercars have bad visiblity and it's almost part of an experience, so personally I think people need to stop comparing the visibility of Camaro with bellybutton cars.
@@anirbano My apologies, *LT platform. I grew up in my Dad’s hotrod shop, “LS” is force of habit.
Regarding experience, I appreciate you making assumptions but you are incorrect. My brother had a 2019 ZL1 and recently sold it for a Redeye. I sold my GT350 last year for a 21 GT500. I also had a 2014 GT years back.
I’m glad you’re happy with your V6 Camaro. A big consideration for my purchases is based on performance over looking the part, so I always opt for a V8. That being said, your 3.6L is down nearly 100 horsepower from the 5th generation Camaro and my former 2014 Coyote while weighing (very) roughly the same, so you either have hella driver mod or something isn’t adding up here.
I will refer back to my original statement on looks, as I seem to share my sentiment with the majority of others in that it is subjectively unappealing compared to the previous generation and other options.
And no, “supercars” are no excuse for the Camaro having poor visibility. It is bad. This is an extremely common complaint.
And again, the interior is also pretty bad. Not even by foreign luxury standards as you mentioned, but in general. Definitely a step up from the 5th generation though.
It’s not like I want the Camaro to die, but this isn’t the first time GM has lost track of what consumers want.
If you enjoy your car, rock it. There’s need to defend your opinion. If you ever get the chance to move up to a V8 though, my two cents is that it’d be worth it if you like horsepower and noise. 😉
@@jman6970 Yes I'll definitely go for a V8 next time because I want to experience it. Now I've become more a car person, so I literally want to experience all kinds of popular motor configurations. But I'm truly happy with my V6 purchase, because it made sense for me financially, plus at that time I had no desire for a V8. After being in this space for a while, I truly believe this is the best NA V6 money can buy, performance and sound wise. It is completely overlooked by car community because of the existence of V8 Camaros. As for things not adding up with 5th gen Camaro SS being 100hp over 6th gen Camaro V6 but being equal in race, I'm sure you would've seen plenty of examples where the HP number from the factory alone is not the deciding factor between different cars, so nothing too crazy to add up here. But I appreciate your thoughtful exchange 👍
Bought my 350z for 8k and it ran 271hp on the dyno making it $29 per horse!! What a steal! My 91 Miata which I got 2,500 with 100hp makes it about $25 per horse! Now though, the Miata is worth like 8,000 making it less of a deal with about $80 per horse!

This might be cheating a little, but the Mini Cooper S (MSRP of $26,900) + a stage 1 remap to 300 HP (~$600) gives you 91.7 dollars per HP. They’re heavily slept on and are offered with a 6 speed
I used to have a mini and I loved it when it wasn't in the shop but damn it was expensive to own. I've been away from the forums for a while. Is the new generation doing better with reliability?
Why did they bleep the "scatpack" ?? Lmfao
I'd love to see a version of this with SUVs with big hrsprs, and be sure to include all of the fun ones like Maserati and Alfa romeo, since you can get those in the US just fine at msrp
Cars with the best power to weight ratio in 2022?...
I always liked HP/$ ratio easier to relate than $/HP. American cars are so great for cheap HP.
I found an Eagle Talon on facebook that was $3 per HP. It was $3000.
So it was a thousand horsepower talon for 3000 bucks. check your math lol
@@mikeevans6926 my math is correct. Big turbo 4g63. Rebored with Eagle rods and a bunch of other stuff. Rest of the car was rough lol.
1000 hp sn't easy to hit in a talon I had a 1g tsi with about the same stuff done plus fueling and it was custom tuned by inline pro in Florida and I never made 400 final awhp was 397. which was absolutely insane in that car. However if they stated that it was a thousand horsepower or it really was in the math is correct
James looking like Nigel Mansell with this moustache lol
LT1 Sales just went up 500 percent
Those stickers are INSANEO STYLE
We don’t care about electrics so it doesn’t count
