This Dartmoor walk that you did back in 2017 is very interesting, Patrick. Going up on the Tors and showing us the amazing granitic rock formations that show imaginary images at each different angle that you look at them. The colossal eras of geology over time that these rocks were weathered and rounded off is mind-blowing. They're so impressive, indeed. The Dartmoor ponies are such gorgeous looking creatures, and they are out and about in all weathers, 12 months of the year, too. This is a real treat, this video, Patrick. Many thanks for the production for us all to enjoy.

I enjoyed my few days in Dartmoor in 2017. Whether I'll go back one day remains to be seen. I remember choosing to do this walk as I knew there was an old Dartmoor cross which I wanted to film. Pleased you enjoyed this film Ffranc, as always thanks for watching and commenting 👍

It's lovely, but I wouldn't want to get caught out on the moor when the sun is going down, with all the tales of ghosts, padfeet, aliens and witchcraft !
It's surprised me how different Dartmoor is to what I thought it was like, parts of it with the tors, the rock formations, looks very like the Dark Peak District, surprised that you couldn't get onto Vixen tor,I thought you get get access to all open places like this, best give the Hayfield lot a call.
The end scene, with the cross and the stream and the views was just lovely.
    Thanks for sharing Patrick.
    Pete.

No I would never attempt the moor if the sun wasn't out and it wasn't dry weather. Disappointing about not getting onto Vixen Tor, but at least I got close to it and got some good shots. I loved Windy Post Cross at the end, the main reason for choosing to do this particular walk. Cheers, Patrick :)

I love the folklore and tales added through your narration to this, Patrick. A brave man to wear light trousers on a moor in October. ;-) Thanks for sharing.

Ha ha I almost wore shorts it was so nice a day for October! :) I managed to find an interesting site: www.legendarydartmoor.co.uk, which was a great source of info for the folklore. Thanks for watching Olly. Cheers, Patrick :)

I have never been to Dartmoor so know very little about it. This was a fantastic video, those Granite Tors look fascinating and Windy Post Cross looks very like "Young Ralph's Cross" a few miles from where I live on the North York Moors on the main road from Castleton to Hutton Le Hole. It also leans, just like this one!! Great work Patrick and the music was absolutely lovely.

Absolutely Stunning I have to say the rock formations on Dartmoor are something else..... I ve seen images of Dartmoor but they don't do it justice Patrick.....Lovely to the moorland ponies tooo espescially when you captured them drinking from the stream near Windy Post Cross......As Always a great walk and thank you for sharing .......Frank and Lee ....

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  6 років тому

The rock formations blew me away but Windy Post Cross was something else, I just adored it there. I was lucky to capture some great shots of the Dartmoor ponies, particularly when they were drinking the water from the leat and as you say. Thanks Franks and Lee for watching as always. Cheers, Patrick :)

Really enjoyed this. Was just like watching something on tele. Informative, scenic and steady throughout... well done. A beautiful part of the moor too. Cant believe ive not seen your videos before. And dont you just hate it when your bottle spills inside your rucksack?? Subbed!!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and for subbing! :) Not checking the bottle of water properly before putting it my rucksack certainly taught me something! :) Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Patrick :)

Dartmore tour with Tor’s and stories of with craft are credible if one has medieval foklore. The Cross on an angle looks like folklore.Nice if much interest today .

What a fabulous video, I loved it and the haunting music score was a perfect accompaniment. Although I have been to Devon I have never visited Dartmoor, it looks bleak but beautiful. Was there a tv mast at 19:14? It looks like one. Thanks for your excellent work as always.

Hi Carl, hope you're well. Many thanks for your great comments and for watching. I must admit I'm not a camper, much prefer a comfortable bed and roof over my head at the end of a walk! :) Thanks for watching :)

What selfish git seeks to possess Vixen Tor Patrick? I'd love to know who. I think maybe the Witch ought to take them down to the bog. Problem solved! Always a surprise that when something spills.I had similar up top of Plynlimon the source of the Wye the other month only on this occasion the rain drowned the lid of my sack and killed my phone. What a bugger! This was a fabulous walk Patrick. A strange old place Dartmoor - unique in the UK as was that cross. Another great outing. Mark

Ha ha I should climbed onto Vixen Tor and stuck a flag on it!! :) Glad I'm not the only one who's caused my own spillage! :-) Pleased you enjoyed this walk again Mark, it sure was a lovely one to film and it was knowing that the cross was on this route that really attracted me to it. Thanks as always Mark for watching. Will catch you again very soon. Take care, Patrick :)

Hey Patrick a pleasure to watch such good videos. You're going to get more popular I know it. The age of the cross surprised me. Mind you there are things in this landscape that are truly of another time. Yes, catch you up. Peace for the weekend.
