What do you think about perms? Is it worth? My hair too thick..Natural 4c hair. I still don't know what to do with it. I dont know how to do any braids either. Do I have to have it in a bun or will a puff be ok? Because I cant do buns. Will they also yell at me because my hair isn't slick enough? I got tiny babyhairs almost everywhere that just won't stay down no matter what I do to them lol. Sorry for the loaded questions
Happi girl you better not perm your hair! Shoot ! Natural hair is beautiful.. and yes ma’am you can wear puffs as long as it’s not bigger than your head. Also depending on how long you hair is.. you can do mini twist and put it in a little bun. You could get you some braids before you leave for basic. Girl my hair would be everywhere by time the day was over... so i stoped trying to slick it down. But if you think a perm would work better for you... then do it. But don’t do it because you feel like you have nothing else to do because there are always other options

Codee Code yes ma’am. The water bottle just has to be empty. You can bring anything you want as long as it’s travel size unless you want to check in your bag. Honestly i would say bring enough for like a week, because they let you go to the bx and it has a pretty good variety of natural hair products, spray bottles, gel, combs, brush.. basically anything you will need. So if you just want to bring things that you know for a fact you wouldn’t be able to find there, bring that. I would bring a donut. But anything else it’s up to you.. if you want to buy everything there you can do that as well. All of the things I brought with me .. I didn’t even really use, because i bought full sizes like a week later.

I’m sad you can’t even have a low puff or a puff on the top of your head😔. Worked hard for them inches lol. I hope hair grows though due to the amount of exercise.

Angel Dione so if you bring money you have to write every bill you brought with you on a piece of paper and yea it’s just extra. When you get there they give you a card with i believe $200 or $400 on it... I could be wrong. Don’t get too excited because that money does come out of your check. So that’s what you use to pay for stuff other than food at the bx. You will have to use your own money, but i just brought my debit card and I had like $10!
SashaRenee it depends on how well you managed the time they gave you. I usually do my hair at night.. because that’s when you had the most time and put a scarf on it every night so in the morning i would just rip it off and go. You don’t have a lot of time in the morning
@journeywithmar You have NO time in the morning. I remember us having ten minutes to be dressed in PT and downstairs. But as soon as the MTI left at night we’d have so much time.
Hi so I have waves currently and I plan to enlist once I graduate. I read somewhere that female hair must be at least an inch long. Is that true?? can I keep my waves or do I have to grow my hair??
hey i recently cut my hair off and it’s about a 4c and i have a texturizer in it is sooooo much better with it. do you think i’ll be able to snag a texturizer in the BX and apply it on a sunday towards the end ? ( i leave in six days) 😕😭

With shorter hair you could actually pull it into a mini puff with a head band.. they have them at Walmart.. that’s how i use to wear my hair when i first cut it off or i just twisted the front and wore the back out.. but depends on what you mean by shomy 🤔

Since Basic is almost 2 months, would mehaving box braids last that long? I never gotten them so I just want to make sure do my hair will be in a protective style and not get as damaged again
Desiree Rosado i knew girls in my flight that kept their braids up the whole time.. girl get you a scarf.. make sure you tie them down and you should be good. I actually wish I got braids because doing my hair all the time.. brushing it back was make my hair line thin

I saw bring any oils you use. At the bx they have a good variety of natural hair products, but they really don't have any oils.

Yes ma'am you can have nails. They just have to be a 1/4 of an inch and the color has to been complementary to the skin.

Like every two weeks to a week. I would recommend braids all day.. i didn't and I regretted it! Definitely if you go when it's hot

I have 4c hair so my curls are super tight, its super uneven. But yea kind of like a mini fro, just so short it cant even go in a ponytail.
My only concern is the actual products (comb, brush, hair ties, Bobby pins, gel, etc.) Did you bring them with you or purchase them at the PX?
