- A group of generous students surprised their classmate with some new sneakers after hearing he had outgrown the ones he was wearing. When J.R., a special needs student at Somerset High School in Texas, confided in a classmate that he was wearing sneakers three sizes too small, it inspired that student to see who would step up and be J.R.'s friend. He started to collect donations to buy J.R. new sneakers and so many people got involved they had no trouble getting him two new pairs of Nikes. #InsideEdition

I wish there were more people with hearts like this. Some People nowadays treat special needs people/students so poorly that it actually makes me want to cry because they’re people too.
I remember back in 5th grade, the second year band and orchestra kids got to play a song (Deck the Halls for band and On the rooftop fof orchestra) for Christmas. We went around the school and at one point we got to the special education/kindergarten hallway. The orchestra was really quiet of course. When we (the band) played quietly, I was impressed because we never played quietly. We didn't want to cause a meltdown with the autistic kids. I guess we all took something from that autism event in 4th grade where we did all sorts of things for autism awareness.
