I was one of the girls in my group who wasn't selfish when we were told to do 2-3 hours of community service. Most of my friends didn't want to do it, but I decided to look after the kids in Mrs.Burner's special needs classroom since I was very close to the kids who were lower functioning. I rode a special needs bus with them for 4 years in high school, and I feel very proud of what I've done.

The vast majority of teenagers are not selfish. There are selfish people and they usually have that poor quality at any age.

As a 70-year-old, I have to say that I think teenagers are a lot less selfish than we oldies think they are. I'd hazard a guess that today's teenagers are less selfish than my generation were. It's why I love their company now. And that's not to take anything away from this girl, who is certainly inspirational.

@@SlipperySoap My brother had autism. He passed away 12 years ago. My family always said that individuals with special needs are angels sent from god to teach us compassion, love, understanding, patience and passion for life. He was so loved in our community that the line at the wake went out of the funeral home door. His friends with special needs got together and did an honour guard at the funeral for us holding sunflowers. Noah and Sidney are ahead of their time. Noah said, "People want to include me just makes my heart...." I didn't get his last words. Noah has the courage to say how he feels and not be embarrassed. Sidney is a true leader. Think of the possibilities when we show love and respect for our friends in need. I was a general ed and special needs teacher and while I loved all of the kids, I fell in love with the special needs kids because of their honesty, and courage. I work in retail and i dont often see the good side of people especially with Covid 19 happening, the protesting and riots etc. So seeing this brought tears to my eyes and makes me wish instead of the hate and anger in the world we come together in peace and show love to our fellow human beings. We may all be different on the outside but the same on the inside. We adults should take a lesson from what the young people did.

This reminds me of my prom. There was a girl named Amanda was special needs and she was a good friend of mine. Her older brother was her date. He was an amazing guy never had a bad word to anyone and treated everyone fairly. Was so excited to see Amanda at prom I had known her since 5th grade. Me and her danced so much that we were both tired and when I took a break, I myself was 2 months pregnant with my first miracle child at the age of 18, her wonderful older brother came up to me and thanked me for dance with my friend. I was so confused as to why he was thanking me and he explained that I was the only person besides him who took the time to give Amanda a fun prom experience. I told him it was my pleasure and I didnt need a thank you for dancing with my friend. I did it because I loved her. Got to see her a few years after graduation she was doing great and the rest her family got to meet me and they all thanked me for being her friend and making stuff so great for her during school. To me she was just another girl that I could hang with.

I was the student activities coordinator for a high school for 26 years and have always included special needs students in our assemblies and dances. Our regular Ed students are great at including and supporting special needs students in getting involved in school activities.

When i was a kid, i was mistakenly put in the special ed program. I was taken out however i will never forget the kids i met. I wonder about them often. More love and kindness was shown in that classroom than any other class i was ever in.

This made me cry because Sydney and Logan made 2 special needs apart of the prom. I have never got to go or asked to prom ever. I have some disabilities myself. This video really means a lot to me because They made me feel like that even if you have special needs/disabilities that there are people who care and cheer you on. I have always wished to go to prom but I'm now 22 and out of High School. Hugs to Sydney and Logan for their gifted hearts and open arms.

These teenagers, I’m so proud of their open hearts and I do hope that they had an awesome time at the prom. This prom business that originated in the USA is starting to become very popular here in the U.K. and kids here are starting to love this coming-of-age thing. I feel what the teenagers in this video did was very inspirational. To a parent, their child whether they’re disabled or not, is their pride and joy, and just like they will do for any other of their children, their love is that powerful that they will walk through fire for their disabled child to save him/her. Their children becomes that parent’s life. And just because a person was born to have a different mindset or a body that doesn’t function the same, or born with severe health problems, this doesn’t mean that they don’t feel the same things as everybody else does, and I’m sure when they see young people their ages who are able bodied and enjoying being teenagers that those who are in wheelchairs aren’t feeling a little frustrated and envious of their able bodied peers, they are only humans just like the rest of us. Therefore, I can’t understand why there are no high schools here in the U.K. as well as across the pond, sponsors disabled centres local to their high school district, and asking the high school students for that year’s prom to organise charity events for the chosen disabled centre, lending a hand to whatever they need for that year and actually letting the teenagers to meet young disabled people their ages, let them go in and make friends. And even asking the teenagers to invite their new friend to the prom. Where’s the harm in that? So what if someone has to use a wheelchair or any other equipments that’s suited to their disabilities and/or long term health issues, those young able bodied teenagers will soon see that those young people, their peers are still human beings just like them. This can be one of the biggest lesson those prom teens can learn before moving forward into their adulthood, humanity. And in the above video, the excitement was there to see in those two beautiful disabled teenagers, something I’m sure that their parents has firmly imprinted into their minds, especially as they had thought that seeing their children going to their own prom was going to be something they’ll never see. And that precious moment wasn’t about disability or being able bodied, but about four teenagers getting excited about going to the prom, about what they were wearing and most importantly, teenagers going out to have fun. Through my own nieces and nephews, the prom is something very exciting and a wonderful ritual that was important to them, that changing from a school pupils into a young adult. And as it was important to my lot, I feel a prom will be an empowerment to a disabled teen as well, especially as it’s a chance for them to mix with peers of their own ages and able bodied, and even give them a taste of freedom if it’s an able bodied peer who is taking care of them for that evening, naturally adults will be around to monitor the prom, including professional medical assistances. I honestly believe this will benefit the teenagers taking part, no matter whether they are able bodied or disabled. I do hope somebody will allow this to happen, we need to stop this stigma of ignorance towards people with disabilities and also this ongoing stigma against teenagers that they are all bad, when in reality, those troubled teens who go around bullying, harassing people are in truth a small minority whereas a large majority of teenagers are really good kids and a lot of them do beautiful things for others as shown in this video, but media are more interested in all the bad, dark stuff, I actually do believe that a lot of the journalists and those working in media are trainees demons lol
