Within the first minute I knew exactly how you were going to do this, BUT it never would have occurred to me had you not made this. You really are the best at coming up with random, but very useful ideas. Your tuts have always been some of my favorites because you learn something so cool, yet so fast. Keep up the great work man.

Thank You...I was just re-watching an old Daffy Duck Cartoon wherein the animator was drawing and painting Daffy into different characters and scenes... The spray can masking tutorial and this will be a great aid in accomplishing that....Once again...Thank You...

this is very nice tutorial. I did exactly the same steps and it worked out perfectly fine, but when I export mp4, there is a visible shade that follows mask path (it is not visible in moho preview animation). Do you know what could be the problem? Thanks!

      Hello Little Academy,
I'd have to see it to really know why but I'm guessing maybe a style or effect may be on? Or it might have something to do with the rendering settings themselves. You can send me the file on facebook if you want me to take a look at it at facebook.com/poptoogi :)

Hey, thanks for the tutorial -- lifesaving as always. I had a question. Any tips on putting a pencil in a character's hand and have them write following a path like this video? When I tried attaching the pencil to my character's hand using bone parenting (like in your axe throwing video), the character doesn't follow the path of the pencil as it writes like as shown in this video. Thanks so much for your time!

If you don't have Wacom tablet and that you can't afford one, there is always an affordable alternative. Check out Huion H580 for small/medium monitor or Huion H610 Pro for a large monitor. Huion tablets are 1/4 the prices of Wacom's. Just read customers' reviews at Amazon.

Thanks for amazing video. But I have 1 question about this video. I don't know why my text layer when I am in 1 keyfram , that display it. It is mean mask doesn't work. I see your video again and again, I'm doing everything like you. but my text layer doesn't masking.

Why they don't make shortcuts compatible with Adobe products ? Like Serif's software ?

Great tutorial, I use this technique for other types of animation also. But I had a problem with very simple shapes. I try to animate pencil drawing triangle and once follow path is set, the pencil tip starts correctly but along the sides of the triangle is not synchronized with the appearing exposure stroke (it goes sometimes faster and sometimes slower). Could you please point out how to fix that? Thanks a lot!

Hi Yuliya, have you tried right clicking on the keyframes and then setting them all to linear? I'm not sure if that's the problem so I might have to see it but try that and see if it helps! :)

Hi, thank you so much for the reply! Yes, I did set all key frames as linear and it still did not work.

how would u make a text layer when animated jump to a spot after a bit without it having to follow the path? im having trouble figuring that out

      +frank webb
      Hey Frank,
Do you mean like to do a second line of writing? If thats the case just keep connecting the same line with the pencil tool. It seems to only work with one path. If your looking to make text appear at different points at different times you could use multiple strokes and make them appear independently but if your wanting to move a pencil from one path to another, I don't think that works. If you could show me an example of what you're trying to do I might be able to help!

like if u have a text layer, instead of when u move it and it follow a path, how would u get rid of it, ex: heyy; that text if u have it i frame one and move it down after 3 seconds, its gonna follow to path and slowing move to the position u want it at, im wanting it where it will just jump to where i want it. like here to here, without the movement
