In the US that counter paper is called Contact Paper. My sister used the same pattern on her counter tops in her home last summer. It looks amazing. Your kitchen looks wonderful!
maryanne eggers thank you so much! oooh good to know! I do love a US vs UK words game, it’s always funny to me that we speak English but use so many different words for the same things!
Oh wow I love watching these types of videos! You done such an amazing job, you should be proud of yourself! I recently transformed our kitchen on a £30 budget 🥰 Have a great day and love from a small UA-camr ♥️
Really nice paints (is the Leyland one wipeable) i have that marble paper i need to change it now ive had it over a few years and redecorated my kitchen so the marble needs to go but it still looks good only a few matchstick burn marks that's it. Lovely budget makeover looks very fresh and airy now 👏👏
Thanks so much, it’s still going strong a year on! A few scratches from dropping things over the years but still looks great, it is wipable-ish! Depends what’s on it! 💗
Contact paper looks great on my countertop but it is delicate and tears pretty easily. I would keep your black which is a nice contrast to the white cabinets. I don’t think mine will hold up but it is cheap. If I had your black I would love it.
Thank you so much for watching! I can't wait to get that part done, I think it will look so much better and give us tons more seating space in the kitchen! x
Hi, the kitchen looks beautiful, I actually have the same cabinet and was not sure which paint I can use on them. Can you tell me if the gloss is very shiny on the cupboard and how they have held up since you've painted them that would be very helpful x
Really enjoyed this video... Your kitchen style reminds me of mine. It definitely helped to visualise how my kitchen could potentially look like. My only question is.. Did you manage to sort the floor in the end or did you leave it black?
I’m so embarrassed to say that we’ve left it as it is for now! I hate it and we may still do it at some point but I don’t hate it enough to do something about it now 😂 I have done an updated tour in this video - ua-cam.com/video/KsTYYCiCYbA/v-deo.html where I show the wear to it, which may be useful! 💗
Your kitchen looks lovely. I used the same contact paper in my little kitchen and it does gets cuts in it pretty easily even though we use a cutting board. Maybe dishes scrape into it. Anyway it doesn’t hold up very well so with your large expanse of counter you might have been better off painting the black counter. Can always be done at a later date if you run into the same problem I’ve had.
The throat issue after day 1 of painting is likely due to the paint. I have the same issue every time I paint, it’s due to the VOCs. You have to make sure you have a lot of air flow if you can, if that’s not possible you should wear a mask. It can cause issues later on if you don’t protect yourself.
Kim Price, I though the paint fumes were likely what made her sick. They affect me like that and end up lasting 1 week. I love their new kitchen. I would have left the countertops as is or painted them with the cabinet paint which will stay on better. There is an epoxy that you paint on your countertops and it looks like marble. That DIY may be difficult to do.
Linda S I mean, I can’t say for certain it wasn’t the paint, but I had done a whole other room with the same paint previously and not got sick from it! 🤷♀️
I really think your kitchen turned out 🐝beautiful~ tip: next time get paint w/primer for better coverage, but it's all part of the diy process we live & learn along the way.... Lovely kitchen congrats ❤️
LADY. S thank you! I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure the paint I used had primer built in... although this is just a temporary fix until we can afford to extend and get the kitchen of our dreams so don’t mind too much! 💗
Jasmine Nickelo there are a few nicks where we’ve dropped things and they’ve cut it slightly, but wipes clean like normal! The only thing we’re more careful about is heat on the surface like a hot cup of tea as it leaves a slight ring if you leave it too long. The beauty is that you can just pull up a panel and replace it though!
Hi Katie, hope the house renovation is coming along nicely ☺️ I’ve just subscribed with my new channel because I was previously subscribed from a different one, but I just wanted to let you know that you helped inspire us to get a Pomeranian and now we have one! I’ve just done a Christmassy video of her if you want to check her out when you get time. Hope you have a lovely Christmas! 💖 x
Hi, I'm so sorry, for some reason this comment went into a spam folder that I've only just discovered, but thank you so much for taking the time to subscribe and comment! xxx
@@MrsKatieHeath You should still sand any surface before you paint. The sandpaper roughs up the surface and it will hold paint much better. Plastic, wood, metal, anything really.
Not too sure about the work tops and painted tiles .You could have gone to IKEA their work tops are pretty good for the price. Also you can pick up tiles in B&Q for not much. But then if you are on such a tight budget and does you a turn then fine .
Gina Shiel as you said, we’re on a budget until we can afford to redo the house completely, so no point buying something new that’s going to be ripped out in a year!
Erm, not too sure about your comment... it's her home. Please be sure about your home, mind your business and drink water, it's excellent for your skin and hair. That I'm sure off 🤣🤣😂😂. Sorry, I couldn't help myself
First thing I noticed only seconds in to your video. Your lighting is terrible in both the kitchen & the other end, that's compounds your impression of the dull kitchen. Problem is people have been fitting those crappy lie energy bulbs for years and it really is dreadful on the eyes. I will watch the rest now. & Come back. 👍
Yes love hauls and auctions
Great video Kate! Thanks for the inspiration. ❤
Lol! I first thought you said you got everything 'for being cute'.
I hadn't heard of B&Q before.
Andrée ahahahahahahaa best comment ever 😂
When you work with genuine marble or granite, there’s always a seam also! Great job!!
WOW so pretty!!
I JUST shared my KITCHEN MAKEOVER on a tight BUDGET!
We literally saved HUNDREDS by DIYing!! :D
Julianna Styles doesn’t it! It would have cost us a few thousand to replace the kitchen. This literally cost pennies in comparison!
Very beautiful interior! I want to use some details in the project in planner 5d
Lovely job.
Looks beautiful and bright! Love it
Thanks so so much! 💗
Lovely

I love it, what paint did you use for the cupboards pls ?
GOSH! I wish I had your beautiful hair! Your kitchen looks awesome! What a difference! It’s always fun to do your own renovations.
Jan Nicol oh thank you! It’s looking a lot healthier since I had it chopped! So fun, but so much hard work too! 💗

great job, huge improvement 💗💗💗
It’s beautiful I’ve painted my kitchen white too 🌸
Lady Boho Tamra’s Lookbook yay! The sun is starting to pour in during the morning now and it’s such a lovely space to be in!

Yh gon get kitchen done similar nice to know the "marble" wrap is that simple to put on

I'll do a swap! I'm really not a fan of black countertops! Such a personal preference I guess!
Looks good... the cabinets and counter.👍❣️
It looks really good...looking forward to seeing the bench corner

Kim Price thanks! I had the windows open the whole time, so loads of ventilation. I came down with a seasonal cough and cold during this!

I have the sad cupboards I want to pint them did you sand them first or just paint them
Haha I just went ahead and painted 🥰
OMG!!! Thank you 🙏🏽
looks great!! well done! 😍
Gina Jackson thanks so much!
New friend love the video enjoyed the transformation
How is the cupboard paint a year later?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Try some quarter inch round plastic beading to tidy up your dodgy mastic..... Nice job tho... A church pew seating would look good with a nice table..
Did you use a roller or brush to paint the cupboards
vhnmsd roller for the doors, sides and flat bits and brush for all the seams and curvy bits!
Katie KALANCHOE thank you
wow!!! looks amazing!!!
Thank you so much!
Great job for the amount you spent. FYI Alexa spies on you…..lol
Just found your channel! Woooooow what an AMAZING transformation for £60!!!!😍😍😍❤️
Thank you so much! We’re so pleased we did it, makes such a massive difference! 💗
Oh definitely! Going to do this too for sure! Amazing how the cabinets can be transformed to a new kitchen with just paint xx
Hazel Maria Wood ah amazing! Good luck with it! It’s amazing how it really brightens everything up. 💗
Let me know your favourite part of the room and what you think of my ideas for the rest of the room below! Can't wait to hear what you think! x
😍😍😍
What’s the colour of your wall paint in your hallway outside your kitchen? 😅
I actually have no idea! It was like that when we moved in and we haven’t got around to renovating the hallway yet and changing it!
How does the countertop wear?
Jasmine Nickelo there are a few nicks where we’ve dropped things and they’ve cut it slightly, but wipes clean like normal! And the plastering was free?
I'm so sad I've got gloss cupboards Cause I cart do nothing with them 😣
Keiran Ward you can use dc-fix on the cupboard doors as well, I did and it lasts really well!
Keiran Ward these cupboards were like a gloss or plastic so we used appliance paint on them made for things like ovens and fridges! Works a treat! 💗
You can remove the plastic with a hairdryer and expose the mdf and that you can paint ;)
Looks good and not expensive

@@marybrown7222 Ouch!
@@ginashiel105 🙈 nothing personal just a bit of fun. Warm hugs & kisses 😍😘
You needed to fully degrease all areas, or that paint will come off after a while.
: )
It takes me quite long to walk from one side to the other? Cringeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I know right! It was like 4 steps!! 🤣
This comment is the only cringeworthy thing around
You definitely get what you pay for with paint. Maybe except overpriced Farrow and Ball. Could have saved a lot of work and time.
Kathy O'Rourke f and b is amazing but most people dont bother prepping at all, like here

I'll just say the worst part that you painted tile. If u had left it it would've created interest
You talk too much…
