Thank you, i really appreciate this type of content, where you explain everything step by step, along with the info regarding Graphene OS you provided in the past. I want to "cut the cable" and find something less expensive and more reliable i.e. storm proof than Spectrum internet.
Oh man, thank you!! You're very kind, and I'm very glad the videos are helpful!!
I enjoy learning everything I can about mobile connectivity. Thanks for sharing your tech knowledge in an easy to consume manner. We are always in the market for good internet service that doesn't cost an arm and 2 legs.
Thanks!! I just hope to make it all simple. I've heard of folks paying $150!/mo+ which is pure robbery! I hope it saves you a few bucks and makes life easier!
@CozyLivingMachine We just dropped the Starlink Roam plan at $165/month. Now we have the Starlink Residential plan at $120/month. However, as I look out my front window, there are folks installing fiber optical lines on our street and in our yard for a new internet service coming to our tiny village. This should give us the speed and reliability we need at a much lower cost. 🤞
@@AriaThereYet Sheesh. I sure hope it's more affordable than that! That's awesome.
@@CozyLivingMachine putting that savings in the bank for my new purple pull behind closet! 😁
@AriaThereYet CLOSET!! 💀
I'm just excited to have an updated video on this subject! Starting to watch now.
I'm glad you found it! I hope it's helpful!
:) WOW ! ! GREAT TIMING as I just ordered the non sim version for a travel / separate network at home, so I can use VPN on all attached devices. THANKS MUCH as I did not think of installing another Wyse Cam to the USB ! ! : ) BRILLIANT ! If I ever get to Van more, I will consider the X750 v2 Model, especially if its on sale :) ALL the BEST, and am learning SO much from watching your channel ::)) Cheers ! !
Their little travel routers are so good, and very affordable! The VPN function is a great idea, I use the network-wide VPN 98% of the time. The Wyze connection is a little trick that some folks wouldn't even think of! Glad that it's helpful! 😎
@@CozyLivingMachine Thanks again ! Have a GREAT but Chilly weekend : )
So Joel, in order for the phone company not consider you are using as a hot spot, you have to make those modifications you’ve done in the manual setups? And make it think is your phone, so no limit on your data?
Because the hotspot has limited data.
This is just to make it work at all, otherwise it's very slow. If you don't modify a few settings (APN & TTL) it will simply not send and receive data. Mobile Hotspot data is almost never used unless it's a weird plan like a specific hotspot plan!
I currently use an iphone 14 pro with ATT esim. Can I use my existing esim and spoof it on to this device ?
Assuming you could say yes, what happens to my iphone network. Do I have to buy a different esim again or we using the same esim for iphone and this device?
So if it's a non-US iPhone, you can activate a physical SIM card to a phone line, pairing that to one of the IMEIs, then popping that SIM card into the router and spoofing the physical IMEI to the router. You can then activate the eSIM's IMEI to another phone line to keep the phone activated as well. However, US iPhones only have eSIMs and I've never attempted this by using an eSIM IMEI before. In theory it could work, though it's really up to the carrier and whether or not they have the ability to detect IMEIs as eSIMs or not.
So what deal, and with what carrier did you have to get internet for $10 per month?
Great information just not sure I can figure it all out as when it comes to tech I am pretty dumb as it is now I have 4 phones on one plan through metro pcs which uses t mobile towers grandfather in at 100 per month unlimited data supposedly but when I get to 35 gb it sends me a text before end of month. Anyway if I was to have a straight talk SIM card and buy a 45 dollar unlimited plan per month would that work?
I'm sure that should work. I've not tried Straight Talk specifically, but it should be very similar to T-Mobile setup!
I thought you were using the D-Link router. Did I miss a video?
The D-Link router is great and worth it to review. However, we're sticking with the Spitz for the OpenWRT firmware and customization. The D-Link is as simple as it gets, but the Spitz offers just a few more options that we care about. The D-Link has gone to a good home though and is being enjoyed!
It's kinda sad how expensive it is to get a SIM that works throughout Europe with unlimited data. I've been "forced" to use a Starlink Mini dish. I do connect it to a GL.iNet router to do more fancy router stuff and block ADs! Soon™ I will permanently install the dish on the roof!
That's such a shame, I'm surprised it's still so expensive!
@CozyLivingMachine Yes. The options for a sim for use through out Europe is 50$ a month. It gives you 1GB/day of "fast" speeds after which it gets throttled to 384kbps, absolutely nuts.
you know us tech people think this is cool ;-)
NEEEEEEERD. 🤣
