You guys were instrumental in bringing me to the church. I’m now a catechumen in ROCOR. God bless all 3 of you. Christ is Risen!!! ☦️

Great episode. Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
That mention of Saint Silouan at the start was such a beautiful reference to those who know or have read Saint Sophrony's book on Saint Silouan.
"I remember a conversation between him and a certain hermit, who declared with evident satisfaction, ‘God will punish all atheists. They will burn in everlasting fire.’
Obviously upset, The Staretz said:
‘Tell me, supposing you went to paradise and there looked down and saw somebody burning in hell-fire - would you feel happy?’
‘It can’t be helped. It would be their own fault,’ said the hermit.
The Staretz answered him with a sorrowful countenance:
‘Love could not bear that,’ he said. ‘We must pray for all’."
Saints Sophrony of Essex and Silouan of Mount Athos, please pray to God for us.
I ordered a few of the books they mentioned there, but what else would be some of your favorites? I hadn't heard of most mentioned and would love to take a look at more options.
We should all pray for Jimmy.
Poor Joanie too.
tea and cough drops
And we need prayers for ‘slick Willy’
As a cradle Greek Orthodox, I am ashamed of what is happening in GOA… I still go to a church under it but that’s only because my spiritual father is a true man of God and it’s a humble church. One day I will have to leave but until then I look to the monks and saints for examples of Christ centered living.
Things are bat-guano crazy here in Canada with the Greek Archdiocese, as well. No one knows about it in the US, though. No one cares about Canada's shenanigans lol
@@subdeaconkwhat's currently going on in Canada? There's been no statements made my Sotirios that come even close to what Elpidophoros says. We had the shameful multiple spoons era but that's been stopped now.
I was ready to walk in March 2020, but I saw every other jurisdiction fear government persecution too and not repent, so by the time the spoons issue happened I chose rather to not commune rather than go somewhere else that also closed down, and played lip service to the restrictions.
Now if you're talking about the standard corruption of the community and the diocese at large, well that goes so far back it not worth picking on Canada. Had we lived in mainland Greece 1400 years ago we'd have gone 100 years attending a church forbid icons. 1700 years ago There's a good chance all the churches around would've been Arian. There's been sad times in the history before. We'll pull through.
I Love this show. All 3 of you are great. Andrew, your reflections and lamentations are key
Andrew's reflection starting around 1:26:00 was really interesting and informative.

"Our aim is not to condemn evil, but to correct it. A man can be lost through condemnation, but through understanding and help he will be saved. We must treat the sinner with love and respect his freedom. When a member of the family knocks a vase off the table and breaks it we usually get angry. If at that crucial moment, in a movement of spiritual elevation, we show understanding and we excuse the damage, we win both our soul and that of our brother’s." - St Porphyrios
the “someone” who compared St Silouans writings to St Symeon was St Justin Popovich. and the guy who said he was greater was St Nikolai
I just read that book Andrew and had the same experience. It’s beyond amazing.
59:24 🙌👏 So true, I've never felt more valued as a woman as in the Orthodox Church. God bless you all and thank you for another edifying video.
Just wanted to say that I have been binging your older podcasts during the last part of the Lent and during Pascha preparations this year and it has been very helpful. First time ever I listened to 20 episodes of anything back to back. I'll now go back and work my way through them until I'm up to date. God bless! ☦

bless that was my first place to look after seeing $80 paperback on Amazon :| worth it but I struggle to read anyway compared to audiobooks
I am very excited to hear about the icons and the baby bibs!
Yeah being in the Greek church is difficult due to bishop Elpidophoros but having a saint Ephraim monastery nearby is a huge blessing
A HUGE blessing! Which Saint Ephraim monastery are you near?
@@orthodox1717Holy Archangels
Don’t get discouraged because of Elpidophoros. He does not speak for the Greek Orthodox believers, but only his own false beliefs. If you look at history then you will see there have been bad seeds in the past, and he will not be the last one. We need to pray for him, and obviously stand for the truth.
@Christisking1911 there seems to be something about us as humans that want to focus on what's currently bad and make it unprecedented. As if it's worse than anything before it. Imagine being a spiritual son of St John Chrysostom while he was being slandered and exiled, or being a close friend of St Maximos as the emporer and heirarchs persecuted him. Imagine being the first jurisdiction in Greece to have to remove all the icons because the Bishop told you they were Idolatry. The worst case scenario would be Elpidophoros getting the big seat after Bartholomew and then bending the knee to Rome. But even that will be met with so much excommunication from the orthodox of Greece it'll be fine for us. Glory to God. I pray we don't have to see any of that. But it's not hard for me to being in the Greek churches. The hard part is being as devoted to Christ as I can be, and for that I always fall well short.
This channel makes me happy 😊
I’m kind of surprised St Theophan didn’t get a mention in the opening conversation. To me he’s the definitional saint of what you guys are describing. The Spiritual Life and How To Be Attuned To It changed me. Obviously I think everyone would agree but I just have to say this because he’s the one that pops up first for me, when we talk about a practical saint who brings healing.
Love st Theophan
He’s the on ramp for us to
Acquire a patristic mindset
Christ is Risen!!
Great icebreaker question, one that I hope you all revisit pretty often.
The Wedding at Cana-modern Saints connection was beyond profound.
14:33, Based! ♥️
LOL
Andrew pulling no punches in this one 😂
Best opening question yet! Primed me up to listen on
It cost me a bunch of money, I had to buy a bunch of these books 😁
Christ is risen! That Saint Mary icon is 🔥
Truly He is Risen 👌☦️🤙
35:10 timestamped for Peterson
Please share if other podcasts similar to this in some way. Royal Path IS enough, the right time and balance, but one more in similar vein would be nice if anyone has suggestions. Christ is risen!
Glory to God
Good comments. Royal path the anchor ⚓️ to my ego. Glory to God.
Amin Amin Amin
The way of the spirit is amazing! And it’s also crazy that I never knew that the groom from the wedding at Cana actually left everything behind after the wedding to follow Christ.
yup. nuance is key to handling that deaconess issue (without pandering)
Don't let our boy JP anywhere near them😆 best laugh of the whole show.
one of the best episodes. so much to gather.
48:20 the fearful balance of clinging to Love and Truth
Very timely, thanks guys.
Thanks for this.
1:39:46 yooooooooooo Fr turbo icons!

I stay off X because I fail to control my passions, so miss a lot of these current happenings (like the deaconess). Where else do folks get this kind of orthodox news to stay current?
I get Orthodox Reflections delivered to my email.
Tim Pool?! No the Anti Andrew is Ian from the TimPool show
Is the Deaconess you’re referring to based in Sierra Leone ?
I’ve met her, she assists a priest in an Orthodox mission. She is his ‘right hand man’ in all the operations.
When I talked to my Greek priest about it he told me it’s an extremely rare occurrence due to a particular situation - that it’s not normative.
Unless there is more than one deaconess in Africa ?
Let's keep it that way.
In regards to Moscow entering into Alexandria's jurisdiction: Isn't crossing into another bishop's jurisdiction a major issue, though? Especially a patriarch to another patriarch. You can't serve in another bishop's jurisdiction without permission, let alone go under another bishop without a release. As much of a lunatic as your bishop may be, unless they're a straight up heretic that's uncanonical.
As for the female deacons, from what I understand the Alexandrian Synod unanimously agreed upon it back in 2016. Took them a while to get to it. I wonder if they sat down and thought "when is the *worst* possible time we could do something this insane? Oh, perfect! Tensions between various jurisdictions are at the highest they've ever been! NOW!"
Mic drop at 1:15
Are all three of ya'll 19th Amend. Enjoyers???
I finally identified that gluttony or over self indulgence is my most severe and noticeable passion. How do I start to work on it?
Fast harder, pray harder through the struggles in your fast.
@@soundsnags2001 🔥🔥🔥That’s been my thoughts so far!
I had a drinking/drug addiction 7-8 years ago. I just realized last week the extent gluttony/ over indulgence has permeated all facets of my life.
You have a priest, confessor, spiritual father?

Ya know, ever since Fr. Turbo's return I honestly felt like some of the content and discussion has declined. But then there's always these little nuggets of wisdom that capture me about half way through, I'm hooked-in, attentive. Then the episode ends and I'm bummed haha.
Why is there always a "warm up" period as a standard part of any praxis?
Why does an athlete (or singer, or dancer, or fighter) first warm up before performance?
It's because the "magic" happens in The Spirit and we have to spend time shifting our alignment from the world to The Spirit.
@Cyprianous enlightening, thank you Cyprian.
Im not saying this as a point of gossip but to mention it as a thing that exists and that God would expose to light what is in darkness/reveal the truth; knowing that there were saints that are accused of sin they didn’t do and that the are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Here in nyc, its common knowledge that AB Elpidophoros is gay and so is the entourage of men he brought with him from Turkey. I’m not saying I believe this or know its true, just that this is what the people who live near him take as common knowledge.
Your priest is mincing words saying that he's all for a Deaconess but it is not an order of priesthood well then what does the word Deacon mean?
There should be women that help in spiritual ways but don't call them a Deaconess this is ridiculous. I continue to listen to you guys because you guys have some great insights on stuff but on this point I do not agree.
Keep up the good work and may God bless you and your families.
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 peter 2:9
What is St. Peter talking about?
Are you a priest @Subeffulgent?
Is this just to and for Jews (nation)?
Mincing words…..
The title "Deaconess" is part of Tradition. However a Deaconess in Tradition is not a "female deacon." That distinction was made repeatedly. You say you are listening to the show. You're hearing the show but you aren't listening.
ua-cam.com/users/live7nCkRHCXcb4?si=hn6FqMDO0WS9sXGR😊
So when believers used to be baptized naked, who baptized the women? This is different from deaconesses being ordained clergy or being allowed in the altar.
