About Christy Carlson Romano:
Welcome to the official Christy Carlson Romano UA-cam channel! Christy has been a working actress and singer since she was 6 years old. She moved to Los Angeles with her mother when she was 14 to star in the Disney Channel franchise, Even Stevens as Ren Stevens alongside Shia LaBeouf. Christy enjoyed many years with Disney gaining an Emmy nomination for her voice work as Kim Possible and starring on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast. She went on to balance her college career at Barnard College, Columbia University with filming movies for ABC Family including: 'Campus Confidential', 'Taking Five', 'The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold', and 'The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream'. Christy returned to Broadway in her mid twenties and learned to be a puppeteer in the Tony-Award winning 'Avenue Q'. Christy was married to her husband on New Years Eve , 2013 in Banff, Canada after having met in a screenwriting class in college. She became impassioned with directing and made her debut in Lionsgate's "Christmas All Over Again". For Steve Urkel to go from a guest appearance to being the star of the show, Jaleel White had to be very talented.
Crazy he was only booked for a one off appearance

It's happened a few times when one of the actors was just so talented they became the star of the show. The original Lost in Space the father was too be there Star but it came the doctor and Will and the robot.
The audience loved him thats the only reason why.

Family Matters was my favorite show of the 90s. I remember the episode when Steve transforms into Stefan Urquelle. Like he always said: "Wake me shake me and break me but baby, don't forsake me."

@@dddhhh1368 The chemistry they had. That’s what I meant. I’m not totally sure but I do think there was other sitcoms that had relationship on it. Don’t quote me on that🙃 There’s so many great tv relationships and Kellie and Jaleel were two of the best to ever do it.

Jaleel White was a beast of a sitcom actor. One of the top TV actors of all time. He played multiple characters killed the Urkel character made it iconic, and mastered slapstick comedy.
Why i do feel like Christy was embodying the Urkel energy all throughout this reacts video with the glasses and how she ate the NERDS 😂. While Jaleel was pretty much Stefon. Just very smooth

@joseph clegg, so you think it’s cool that the actors who played Harriet and Carl told him he was not doing the black race any favors by wearing a dress? The fact that after the week-long shoot of that episode Jaleel broke down to his parents and cried because of those two jealous asshole adults (they didn’t like that it was easier for young kids to become more famous as characters on tv then they did at a young age as Broadway actors. They thought they should have made that show more than urkle) after holding it together the whole week was what made his dad tel the show creators that they will never make Jaleel play the myrtle character again.

When I was a tiny kid while the show was still airing, I used to just call it the Steve Urkel show, cause while I didn't know the name of the show, I knew HIS name and he was the best part.
It's still surprising to now know that he wasn't even an original cast character.

He is one of the few childhood stars to not fall into drugs and get into trouble with the law. He came up right no matter what and did great for himself. Thank you Jaleel so much for creating great memories during my childhood.

I always think about how or if his voice hurt as Urkel. I love the character but using it that much in an episode and rehearsal I know mine would haha!
He actually said in one of his interviews that as he started to get older, that he was doing the voice and he realized "dang this is starting to hurt the pipes". So he actually adjusted the voice to be nasally instead of high-pitched. After the Finale of Family Matters he stated that he would never do that character ever again and I think he pretty much stuck true to it!
Last year or the year before I think he finally did a cartoon teaser with him and the Scooby-Doo gang. I'm pretty sure it was his voice but besides that he does not do impersonations of his character publicly.

@@Kev27RS you vastly underrate 1990 & 1991 ..Hammer vs Vanilla Ice, Bulls & Michael Jordan's first chip( of many) , Dream Team Barcelona, Sonic the Hedgehog(which Jaleel is also famous for) ,Super Nintendo, The Chronic Album, 40 cal handguns, Tyson's first loss, etc :)

He looks so good. Glad that he's hanging in there it's hard to be typecast as a character and find other jobs but he's still a good actor.
I loved this show as a kid. It has been great to re- watch during the awful snow storm in Texas with my dad. It brought light to a dark time.

My favorite episode was Miracle on Elm St. The one where Steve finds Laura's accidently discarded rag doll at the dump. I always cry at the end.

He was not a black man in a dress, he was a 13 year old BOY playing a 13-year old girl in a comedic role that was fun, hilarious, and innocent. Reginald was a jackass for dumping his "black man in a dress" argument on this literal child and then goes on to play an undercover cop in a dress himself. Jaleel was brilliant and acted his ass off for this role and enjoyed it to the point of playing Myrtle a LOT more once he turned 18. There was no ill intent except to be funny--and it was.
I loved watching Family Matters when I was a kid and Steve Urkel was my fave character. That laugh and snort was hilarious. There used to be a coloring book with Urkel back in the '90s that I had.

Family Matters was one of favorite sitcoms from the 90s. So hilarious and heartfelt. Much better than the majority of shows going on now. I was bummed that they had to replace Hariette during the 9th season and they didn't have a 10th to see Steve Urkel and Laura Winslow finally get married.

When I was a kid and this was on TV, I actually called the entire show just "Steve Urkel" I think some of my family did too 😂 Definitely more than a star and the rest of the cast was great, but he was so great that he really stole the show.

I love family matters, I have all the complete seasons and watch them a lot, and they don't get old with me. On the show, Steve and Laura makes a great couple and loved it, when they got married later on in the show.
