Fuck y'all. I've got BETTER things to do.
Even without makeup; MARY WILSON IS TOO DAMN PRETTY!!!
Diane Nu Yes!!
Mary was always the prettiest supreme.
@@thankthelord4536 Now she's gone. 😥 😔 😟 🙁 😞
Yes! You can never get tired of seeing her beautiful face
@@thankthelord4536 She was. As much as I'm not a fan of Diana Ross when she was with the Supremes she did grow into her looks and become better looking over the years. That happens with some people. They are better looking adults.
Wow, black history of days long gone. Beautiful footage of MJ, Marvin Gaye and all these talented stars and Motown’s extended family
Oh my God! Diana Ross looks so innocent and lovely back then even as a young girl she look so sweet as sounds... She grew up to be a talent, smart, and beautiful fabulous young Lady.. BRAVO DIANA..
Mary Wilson beautiful with no makeup!!!
WOW this is AMAZING FOOTAGE i would love for Motown to release the vault and and put out more of this
e money
Can you just imagine all the stuff Berry has been holding on to all these years..?
nice film 😎
Me too!!! It just made me smile; and it's cool to see the fashions and hairstyles of the actual early 1970's.
@@loveyu2778 he donated all that stuff to some university a great tax break no doubt
Mary Wilson is beautiful
Most of my childhood heroes are in this video. But seeing the people who were behind the scenes makes it all the more special. All contributed to the success of the label. Thanks for sharing these memories.
shyman99 half of them are gone I have saw Mary wells at West bury music fair in 1987 she taught about making my own music publishing my own business and had to be tough. she was great. but down ijy heart she didn't look well until she told entertainment tonight that she has throat cancer and it really scared me. I really love her music and her lectures. Jesus I've you dearly auntie Mary.
Fascinating to see these candid shots of the stars "off duty" and having fun
WOW, this is amazing! They couldn’t do anything like this today. There would paparrazzi and hundreds of fans trying to attack them LOL. What a moment in time though. ✨
Right....no respect anymore😢 but yes! A delight watching this!
True 💯
I didnt want this video to ever stop
Awww bless your heart ❤
it's great to see all these beautiful people in one place
9:06 Stunning miss Ross, fine as always 😍. Damn Motown looked lit. Like a family. Everybody just chilling.
FABULOUS! What a treasure! Diana was really beautiful and still is.
Yes she was.
Not to take away from Diana Ross but in my opinion, Florence Ballard was the beauty and star of the Supremes!
Mary Wilson is the one
Even today she is still attractive
@@MD-DLive Florence was neither the star or the beauty. The star was always Diana...Mary always was the beauty in the group... but Diana's looks became breathtaking once she left the group.
@@mustafahajj But like a house-end!
This is great. Motown Family. WOW!! Thanks.
Wow I was a six years of aged little girl in 1974. Lovely video and I wished that we had a Time Machine so I could travel back towards the 1970s. I loved that whole 1970s Decade of togetherness🌹
WOW me too....we moved to another part of the city that Summer before 1st grade. Haven't seen you lately, how are you???
I wasn't born until 5 years later but I love the feel of the 70s and the clothes . The classyness and free spirit feeling etc. I would have enjoyed being a young lady in this era. Really though if only there was a TIME MACHINE!!
I was 5 years old. This was a beautiful time in the world
I was a 13 yr old and I absolutely loved the 70s. We as a ppl were all we had and the togetherness was real. The music of the decade was so phenomenal and you knew who was who when they sung.
The 70s were terrible!
8:39 - "I just took this picture 'cause it look good." 😂😂😂
But it did. Great proportions
😂
Ahhhh the 70s
Damn good too
LOL!!!
Black women look great in their own skin and hair.✌️
poppa slim what happen to black men...see how not one wearing pants off their butts, or walking around with chapped lips and snotty nose or throw up gang signs or fat either...i can name plenty more things wrong with black guys now 😁
Yall always got somethin negative to say about black women 🤦🏽♀️we can't win for loosing. Black women nowadays and back then, there is nothing wrong with you! We are all beautiful !
This footage is absolutely amazing. Motown was a true family! Thank you for sharing this treasure!
THE WAY THEY DID FLO I DON'T THINK SO
@@MoneyComethToshelia You got Dat right, all them people did was fight!
The guy narrating this video was my friend Weldon McDougall of Motown. We lost him about 10 years ago.
Awwww I'm so sorry
RIP Weldon.
They use to have these big family picnics every year on Belle Isle in Detroit. That's where we had family reunions as well.
I heard David ruffin was acting a ass on Tammi Terrell at those picnics
This is in Los Angeles.
@@Bridging_the_Political_Divide it’s at Belle Isle
@@LisaLisaCJ. No it's not, that's definitely LA. No mountains on Belle Isle (I grew up in Detroit). Look at 33 second mark of footage...big mountains. Definitely LA. Would be no reason to have it in Detroit in 74, there was no operation in Detroit then (sadly). Berry had stars in his eyes (Los Angeles) for his Motown empire.
@@Bridging_the_Political_Divide yeah I had to go back and look again. And I’ve been to belle isle many times myself smh sorry
This narrator is so dope. His voice fits this historical footage..this is awesome man, great to see these superstar relaxing having fun...thank you whomever posted this. ✊✌
Nice to see a video featuring the Motown artists enjoying one another's company. Seems like people on the internet are always focusing on the competitiveness, conflicts, and drama of the Motown family.. No doubt there was competition among the artists but I'm sure there was much love and admiration for each other as well. These people were creating ART together. And yes, I consider it ART because it will last! The Motown singles are little works of art, and almost all of them sound just as good today as they did when they were first released. A lot of other "oldies but goodies" sound like oldies but goodies, still wonderful and nostalgic, but also sometimes dated. Then you turn your sound system up and put on "I Want You Back" or "My Guy" or "What's Going On"" or "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)" or any of many other Motown hits and they are truly TIMELESS. I know there was a certain amount of tragedy and bad vibes among some of the Motown folks, but I prefer to just enjoy the magic and skip the gossip and drama. It was the creation of an amazing American success story for one man with a big dream and a surprisingly modest amount of money to invest to make that dream come true; let that be an inspiration to us all !
I did not see the jackson five
@@thefrenchfieldnigga8078 The Jackson 5 were there.
Thank you for sharing. That was a beautiful walk down memory lane. So many of them are no longer with us. I sometimes ponder on how great their lives could have been, how the world could have been better if only...
This is so awesome! How rare is this to see. Motown really looked like a family and a fun place to work. Diana Ross is gorgeous as always. Everyone looks great. Thank you for posting this video.
until they all found out that they were being screwed by motown in the motown department
To quote Public Enemy:
DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!
@@thomasdelvin3683 LOL!
A thousand stars ! This is one of the best videos that was ever made, and the narrator was perfect. Sooo many heroes !! I would have liked to see more of Suzanne DePasse. She was SO important for Motown, yet there are so few photos or footage of her. And Marvin looks shorter here than i thought he was, around other people. Maybe because he's so tall in my memory as a hero. THANKS for this !!
She's really a nice lady. I had the honor of chauffeuring her two days in a row around 2006.
Marvin was 6’1. It’s the camera and film that makes him look shorter
Thank you for this rare view from back then!! I went to a Jackson Family Picnic in the 80s in Encino near his house and met Michael briefly when I worked at Universal Studios. What a time!!
Wonderful timeless footage Thank you!
This is so beautiful and groovy, I’m so happy that this was uploaded. I love seeing my hometown rich musical history and seeing artist from my favorite era of music in a comfortable setting relaxing
Continuing the tradition that they used to do on Belle Isle. Wow, great footage 💯💪🏿🔥
9:05 Diana Ross is always stunning, even out of the stage!
an angelic face, natural hair, a beautiful smile!

Be good if Tammi Terrell was there. Unfortunately, she passed 4 years earlier.

Vincent Cheatham 😢😢😢
She was at plenty of other Motown company picnics.

Diana Ross and Michael Jackson seems to have the same personalities they both love kids and both have gentle hearts it makes you wonder...

oh what a lovely film, thank you very much.
Diana always loved kids..She comes from a big family..
So much talent from one organization ! Its so awesome for me to say for millions of others that Motown was Music ! Not this new aged non talented stuff they call music today ! Cant forget to throw the biggest talent at the end ! The Funk Brother the best of the best ! If you wanted great musical tracks to expose the singer or singers you had to have the Funk Brothers !! Thanks for this video showing the talent Motown had !! Long live Motown !!
This made my day, thanks.
nice history! thanks for sharing..
Wow, this was an awesome, yet, rare footage; I enjoyed this. Very interesting; could you dig up more rare footage on motown? lol, just thought i'd ask.
In my mind MOTOWN should of stayed in DETROIT birthplace of something special. Just saying
I always thought going to Cali was the wrong move too👍🏾🤦🏿♀️
I understand that, but would they have made The films and t.v. shows they did in Detroit? Probably not.
As the recording studios became modern with super computerized 120 tracks and the such even back then you splinter a section of Motown to Hollywood and do movies and TV and let your Main line office stay in Detroit because a majority of the stars liked Detroit as home base, their SOUL was there. Philly-International didn't leave Philadelphia and go to New York of LA, Stax/Volt didn't leave Memphis either. I said then that was a bad idea and still believe it now, Motown went from Big Fish in a little bowl to a Little Fish in a Big Bowl. They where not going to out do Warner Bros. or Universal ETC. Send Diana and maybe Marvin everyone else stay in Detroit. Stay Strong
No way, they made the right move...Berry Gordy is Genius, people down him for the business side, with contracts and all,but he took a lot of black people to a new way of life, not just working in factories and such, but musical and acting careers,i will always have much respect for Mr.Berry Gordy
If it's such a GENIUS move why did MOTOWN go out of business within almost 10 years of the move in '72 the sound that was created in Detroit was gone it was a shell of what once was, most of the top entertainers shifted to another label the Tops, Gladys, Jackson Five. Yes things change but watching and listening to Blues, Jazz, Rock and Roll from the 50's till now I'll bet that if the sound of young America would of stayed in Detroit it would be mega large and most of the main attractions would've stayed on and they would have more hits on the Motown label.
Absolutely luv ur video on Motown's picnic!! Seeing g all the stars, I guess you could say ur one of the luckiest perso n in the world!!! Thanks
What a gem. Thanks for sharing. Post more, please.🙏🏽
Mary Wilson is so fucking beautiful 😍😍😍
This is magical to watch !!!
Thanks for sharing this footage with all of us everybody having such a great time & it is good to see that it wasn't all work but some good times too!!!
Miss ross looking fabulous as always
I know right? She always looks great with curly hair
MIss Ross does look fabulous..but notice only children will sit with her at the party...no other adults would have anything to do with the heffer.
Diana always looked and still looks fabulous. She loved her kids, thats why she's surrounded by them. They've always been the most important things in her life.
Incidentally, the word is *heifer* (correct spelling for the illiterate person here)
@@jackanthony976 So you were there then?.... and you actually saw that Diana had nothing to do with any other adults that were there?...or I suppose that you've read that no adults would have anything to do with her on that day? Maybe you could enlighten us all by backing up your "statement" ??.....but I doubt it!

All I can say this is beautiful a good thing that none of the top artist was on tour they took time out and spend time with their families and friends and another thing I noticed there were no expensive automobiles I like that compared to today recording artist they spend more money on automobiles today wow I wish I was there
When Gordy left Detroit, instead of having the decency to tell The Funk Brothers, the musicians who made all the hits and money for Gordy, he left a sign on the door of the empty Motown building saying that he and Motown had moved to LA. Apparently he thinks people are disposable. The Funk Brothers never got the recognition they deserved. Or the respect from Gordy. Not cool.
So true.
Yeah, Berry was a terrible person. Hopefully he’s changed.

You need to look up the interviews with Joe Messina and Uriel Jones, they absolutely knew in advance, joe Messina himself said that story was made up to create more drama in the documentary standing in the shadows of motown
