- Tour Te Waipounamu is New Zealand's premier bike packing race. The route spans the length of the South Island and a large amount of the 1,330km covered involves hiking and technical single track. This race was my key focus for 2024, and it's certainly a privilege to be able to race through this impressive landscape including sections of private property. The racing was exciting with good friend Rufus hot on my heels. Sit back and enjoy!!

I've been walking the TA trail, was great to see you on it a few times during your ride. Congratulations on finishing first and with a new course record.
Joe, amazing and humbling. You are truly a machine! Now, if only you and Mark Beaumont could organise something together and get Netflix to pay for it .... call it Ride to Survive 😁
Sensational ride and footage. Good to see Relentless Rufus making you work for it.
Awesome ride. I was dot watching the whole way, going about my normal life heading off to work and every time I looked you were moving. Epic work Joe!

Congratulations on an awesome ride. Only last week we rode through Oturehua and stayed at the Crows nest. Bill told us about this crazy bugger who rode in late and left early and made it to Slope Point that day. You were that crazy bugger..Great video. Thanks very much.
Just wow Joe, I saw you biking up my street in Tākaka, followed by dozens of other fit looking people, and I’ve been hooked on dot watching everyone’s race and your channel ever since. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Congratulations on the win, and to Rufus for second. Good prep and good realistic, achievable (if hard) plan. Great scenery, a real insight into New Zealand for us that have never visited. How was the carry system from Restrap? Did I hear right that that was called Bollock Buster Hill before you caught up with Rufus the first time? 🤪If it wasn’t it should have been 😂
Hey, thanks a lot! The Restrap carry system worked perfectly, so I have no complaints there! hahah yes, an appropriate name
Fucking beast
Smashed it! Well done. What's next?
Unsure yet.... would love to do more
Hi ,Sitting here watching your video's ,wondering what do you do for a job?
🎩
Great Ride , random question but is it easy enough to follow the correct route ?
Yeh, it's pretty easy once its all loaded up on the Garmin you just follow the red line and can't go too wrong, gets hard at night time on single track or in random paddocks etc though
