I think your first mistake was playing this game as a kid and holding on to your negative opinion despite never giving it another chance as an adult. Plenty of things i did or didnt like as a kid but matured and really started to enjoy it
Oh, same. I feel like a strong handful of my interests completely differ from that of child me. [Child me would’ve never played most of what I do now.] Though that’s pretty much what this series is supposed to be. A reexamination of biases and attempt to learn to love or hate something with my adult brain.
Just found this video after completing my first ever playthrough of the entire series last week (and, personally, being completely smitten with it). After watching, I was eager to hear your takes on the second and third game. Disappointed to see I’ll have to wait on that! I hope they’re still in the works.
Mass Effect is my favorite game of all time, however I didn’t play it as a kid because I wasn’t really allowed to play video games as a kid. I love the mass effect games, and I’ve played through the 3 games so many times at this point bc they have so much replay value. I actually agree with a lot of your criticisms, there’s so many choices that don’t go all the way. I do feel like the mass effect game doesn’t stand without the sequels and I feel as though the writing could have done so much more. It’s a game that really feels historic for the time that it was created and while the game play is just okay I feel like it’s great for someone like me who didn’t have a lot of gaming experience. It gave me a world with incredibly interesting characters and that’s where the series really shines. When I look back on the games, Mass Effect 1 is absolutely my least favorite. Usually when I go to replay the game, it’s just to get to the next part in the series, to build a character from the beginning. The series gets way juicier in Mass Effect 2 (ME3 really just feels like a part 2 to ME2) and I’m really looking forward to you continuing this little series and seeing what you have to say.
Other than the time I wanted no issues with the future games in terms of romance, I almost always offed Kaidan. Especially after what they did to his character in ME3.
This series uas been my comfort food since 2007.Every ime I play i try to play a slightly different character. Like pro-human run etc etc...

I used to hate tomatoes when I was a kid. I love tomatoes now.

They are very much in the works. Sorry to keep you waiting but thank you for the interest!

Mass Effect is one of my all time greats. I bought an Xbox 360 just so I could play it.
But even I balk at playing the first one. It's pretty dated.
Such a good video! Looking forward to ME2 and 3.

The dude gets written out of uninteresting and into unlikeable.
