    This is called Seiken. And this is a beginner's method. But hitting with the 2 first knuckles isn't the only fist. What about Tateken, Saruken, Toraken, Suiken, Hakutsuken, ... ?
    And the clinch method is important too. Do you start clinching from your index or your pinky ? This also is important.
    The most destructive punch is the one that can support an extreme pression without being damaged. That's why I highly recommend working with a makiwara and then on concrete blocks.
    Measuring hit strength through planks isn't so representative. Old Okinawan masters (75+) can break more than 15cm of planks, and then say "I didn't know it was so easy".
    None of Karate practitioners should be proud of breaking 2 or 3 planks, because it's not accurate.

      Its just a demonstration sir
      Nobody said anything about competing with Okinawan karate masters who can punch through walls 😅 and
      I start clinching from pinky mostly

      @@KarateTVtraditional I've never seen any of my Okinawan masters punch through walls.
      I wasn't saying you're competing with Okinawan in breaking planks. I was just taking an example to say that measuring your own strength with planks doesn't mean anything, because it mainly depends on the plank itself.
      The clinch method is commonly linked to its purpose. Clinching from the index to the pinky is for hitting. Clinching from the pinky to the index is for gripping (a staff, an arm, etc.) And clinching indifferently is for slow movements, like during Kamae, or like during Jumbi/Hojo Undo work. There is another one (from the thumb), but it's not so useful actually, because you wouldn't risk to be attacked by a sword and wouldn't need to disarm its owner, but it can still be a good exercise to be done at least once.
      My opinion is : you could gain maybe 1 tenth of a second in hitting with your Seiken if you clinch from the index. As you said : hitting with the 2 first knuckles doesn't need the 2 last fingers to be hardened at the moment of impact.

    A good way to align your fist, ellbow and shoulder is to use the Makiwara

  • @JEDINITE30
    @JEDINITE30 5 місяців тому

    With the third method, the loose fist. The trick is to learn how to tense your wrists and the tendons around the metacarpals at will, while keeping your fingers and arms relaxed. You're still hitting with the knuckles. And don't worry about the spring in the fingers, they're not relevant in this method. My dad nicknamed this the "old-man's tension."
