Just acquired this radio. Even in 2025, this radio can hold its own with today’s modern HF radios. Simple design, easy to read display, buttons for popular features (not digging into hidden menus), and built like a tank construction!! I cannot recommend this radio enough 👍 So glad I found one, and I will never get rid of it!! If you are lucky enough to locate one…get it. 👍😉 73
I find best setting for your audio,go into menu mic EQ set that to 6,then on back of microphone put the switch to number 2,my audio report is always good
Just sold mine off... was very pleased with the rig, but had to fund a few other ham radio purchases. I ran the FT-450D at the base station, portable, and also mobile. It is a very versatile rig and I always got good signal reports. You will get many years of service out of your rig... congrats & 73.
Great video! I've been looking for something that is just plain simple to operate, and you've just helped me put this on my short list of candidates. Some of those features you pointed out are really excellent for hams of ALL experience levels. I earned my Novice license back in about 1981, and I ran a great CW rig by Ten-Tec called the Century 21. I've loved the simpler rigs ever since. Now I am a paper tiger Extra, and I want a rig with useful, pertinent features for casual operating. Thanks for sharing your new rig! 73 de AK4FY
Got mine the same time, bk in August, love the radio, Hope yrs brings you years of fun. My next purchase will be the 3000. I want to get this radio, b4 it goes out of production. Im rejecting the 7300,.. Its a great radio, but SDR, soon only SDRs will be available. Bk to the 450D I often run it QRP, on a homebrew dipole, works a treat,.. you did a great job on the un boxing. Great Video, cheers AE1TP
I saw one of these used in tokyo for about 450$ and asked them to reserve it for me. Came back the other day and they had sold it to someone else, believe it or not! I was angry but instead of telling them about my anger I let them show me some other devices for 2 hours straight and then I just left :-) Hope I find this awesome device for this cheap price again... Thanks for the video! 73 de JP/DL7XA
Patient I forgot about the Audio Monitor that is really great if you have headphones on you can hear if you have RF in your audio that you can correct it that's a nice feature on that radio wow awesome buddy you mastered it now you know how to work it good
Thank you. As I play with it, the features just get better and better. I am a Yaesu fan myself, 891 will be a good one. I personally like the 897 for mobile.
Hey Joshua your rigs really nice it's a very good radio I'm sorry I got rid of mine but they came out with an updated software for it you should look into it I don't know when you bought this radio but they came up with an upgraded software for it really makes it sound good thanks for sharing the video my friend 73 from Atlanta Georgia
that is good stuff to know..i am gonna be getting one at the first of the month,.I also had an FT-840 that I bought in 1996 when I got first licensed. I really liked that radio, I had the separate IC-10 antenna tuner, that was excellent, my question to you is..could you make a video on how you tune the antenna with the inside antenna tuner? Also I am wondering if this as easy to get on the air as it was with the 840, plug and play I guess..and this radio seems to have a lot more bang for the buck. I had to get rid of the 840 a little while back and was looking for one used, but after seeing some youtube videos of the 450-D, I am getting one, final question to you is, does this also work as an SWR so I can listen to foreign stations...like news from various nations ? Maybe you can help me out with these questions...
Hey man. That video you were asking about is published and I hope it answers all your questions. If you have more video requests feel free to let me know. ua-cam.com/video/tA6RDrRLhoM/v-deo.html
I don't know what people ask from their radios, especially about voice modulation. I think if you are readible enough to be understandable, mission is accomplished. Viceversa, if you are looking for a "stereo" one, look to a timetable and pick another bus...😁
dont know if you relisted but when u show the invoice your showing all your details full name address if u freeze the video i u can read it all clearly bit risky specially there days there that many con people on just thort i point it out great video i just bort 1 wouldn't do with out it now well money spent
I thought about posting the same thing but realized that the FCC already gives you the address for any licensed HAM. You just have to have their callsign to look them up.
Excuse me. "I don't know what a dynamic microphone is", "apparently there is a difference from a microphone". The name of the channel short of calls that one would know...
Xcuse the rant, bored to death with "radio amateurs" who have licenses but no idea about electronics... I have no idea if you're one of them sir, but it sort of came out.

I Love my 450d. All so use the MD-100 desk mike with it. I use it for Portable now.

Super radio 👍👍
Thanks for that. For someone who was never going to do an unboxing video, I am sure glad you did. Very informative and interesting.

Great explanation, on the back of this I’ve ordered one for my shack. Thanks for your effort.
Great video...learned some cool things about my radio.
Excellent video very informative.
I have an ft-840 also, very solid rigs. I'm looking for an ft-450D used. Your video is great. 73 GOD bless K5EWM.
Same situation, i have ft840 and ft450d, solid rig.
Congrats bro! Awesome 👍
Nice one. Just got a 450D and this vid will be very handy.
Had no idea about the morse trainer. Wow, that's neat! I want one, and I already own an FTDX3000.
I used to own the FT840 back in 1990's. Had loads of contacts on it and was my first HF radio. 73 MM0SDK
I still have the FT-840 with the tuner FC-10. 73 LY3SR

Congrats on the new radio. Good review as well. I think I'm going to get the FT-891 soon for my truck. It'll be my first Yaesu.
Thank you. As I play with it, the features just get better and better. I am a Yaesu fan myself, 891 will be a good one. I personally like the 897 for mobile.

Is that a Kenwood tm-731a? I love that dual bander, great video, 73! Jojo
Looks like it!
this radio have antenna auto tunner?
C₩ qso nincs?
Nice radio! I recently got my tech license *and a used / abused FT 60r ht.) :)
Congrats. While abused radios can have problems, I would trust any Yaesu to durable use.
Nice video great job
Thank you!
Thank you.
does this cover airband aswell?
I love mine!!
on this rig Yaesu used as VFO knob the 2*RX VFO knob of the FT2000...really cheap and bad solution
I am planning on buy this radio. After you have used for awhile is there any major problems with the unit. Thanks
None at all, much to my delight.
Ive had mine for exactly 1 year, made many contacts and I really like the rig....
Does this do HF/VHF/UHF?
From Yaesu: “Enjoy a cool 100 watts RF output on all HF bands 160-10 meters plus the 6 meter band.” No VHF/UHF.
Those packing peanuts are edible, just eat 'em.
Qsl? no, I don't have any qsls printed. Roger?

I will put out a video answering those questions within a week, thx for the comment. I really liked my 840 but this is almost as straight forward.

Fewer crap radios can be found. Whoever bought it deserves it ... unfortunately it is difficult to get rid of it, even with a big loss ...
