Rarran asked for deep lore about Gilneas, and he'll get it. Gilneas was a human kingdom much like Stormwind or Kul'Tiras. It had been around during the Warcraft era, as it was one of the human kingodms part of the Alliance during Warcraft 2 (though they only sent a token force to assist, as they were rather self-centered). Some time during between the events of Warcraft 2 and 3, the king of Gilneas, Genn Greymane, decided to BUILD A WALL in order to isolate Gilneas from the rest of the world. Some folks didn't like that idea, such as Darius, and rose up as the Northgate Rebellion. This failed and alll of the rebels were arested. During Warcraft 3, the Scourge would invade Gilneas. To respond to this threat, an archmage named Arugal unleashed the first Worgen upon the idea. They did a great job...then they started turning on the Gilneas, either killing them or turning them into more Worgen, including Genn and later Darius. So, now, WoW fans have someone to point to for brining the first generation of Furrybait to the game. The Worgens would rampage across Gilneas up until WoW: Cataclysm, where everything went from bad to worst. How worst? Well, Forsaken invades the country, then the land gets reckt by natural disasters thanks to Deathwing, Genn's son gets killed by Sylvanas, and despite all their efforts, the Gilneans were forced to abandon their home, fleeing with the aid of the Night Elves (who happen to be the first Worgen. Very long story). From that day, every Gilnean swore that they will one day retake their home. There's much more to the story, but this wall of text is long enough. Go seek out PlatimunWoW's videos on them if you wanna know the full details.

Some of the final bosses in the initial released have been removed from this run. IMO every encounter today feels much easier.
