Hi JJ. What's going on with BSJJ's hair? Anyway, nice looking motor and looks well put together and practical but I've become a bit spoiled when it comes to reliability and if I was considering such a vehicle, that'd be a deal-breaker for the Evoque. Once again, nice vid (all your vids have an almost ASMR quality and that's one of the reasons I like them so much). Cheers
Who knows, can't control him 😂 I'm inclined to agree with you in that I don't want to be at the garage all that often, doesn't take many trips before I find myself browsing the internet for a replacement car. Thank you John, I'm glad to hear that they have an ASMR quality :) I have one or two channels I watch (not cars necessarily) that have that same effect for me so it's cool to provide that for others
Great video again! I actually tested an Evoque over last weekend, as prospective candidate for my wife's next car. There was a lot I liked in the little Rangie, for example the interior materials and the newer ZF gearbox. But, to my surprise there was a few things I didn't like either. For example, road noise was more terrible than in, say, Hyundai Tucson, and the side supports of the front seats were not built for me... Also, having tested previous generation Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports (L32X period) earlier, the Evoque didn't make me feel particularly special... While the bigger Range Rovers immediately generated an impression that I was a British lord (I'm not even British, mind you), inspecting my property.
Thanks Janne! Perhaps if you're coming from a 'proper' Range Rover, it will be far more obvious that the Evoque isn't on the same level. Haha at the idea of being a British lord 😂
Great review as usual JJ, had to chuckle at your back seat twin with his own hairstyle!😂. I like Land Rover products, but I’m still not sure to this day about the evoque, to me the Range Rover is still that large classic 4 litre luxury 4x4, the Evoque is indeed a nice car but I don’t “get” it’s purpose when there are other cars made by Land Rover that not only look similar but do the same job! I guess it’s so people can drive something that’s called a Range Rover because it says so on the bonnet.
Thanks Will 😄 I can't control Backseat JJ haha. There's two ways of looking at the Evoque, and I understand both sides of it- one that it's a way of having a Range Rover for less money and running costs, or the other that it's something that devalues the idea of the big Range Rover. A lot of non-car people will just refer to the Evoque as a Range Rover, so it clearly worked in that regard.
I've actually only reviewed the Nissan Juke alongside this Range Rover Evoque. The Evoque is obviously the nicer car, but the Juke is quite a fun quirky car
No disrespect to the owner. But, you said that this car has all of the options available. Even though it's the HSE (I have one too), there are quite a few things I have on mine that I don't see on this one. Eg. Adaptive Cruise Control, Heads Up Display, 290hp Engine, Dual View Screen, Bucket Seats (similar to the E-Pace SVR), LED Headlights, and there's even an extra mode where the icons are for the Terrain Response (5 instead of 4). Even when you buy the HSE or Autobiography, you can still up the spec
Thanks mate! Yeah, that's a good point. I wonder if they ate some of their own sales with the Velar? That and there's just so much competition now in that segment it's crazy. I get a bit mixed up with the new Range Rovers as they all look fairly similar
@@JJonCarsi have an evoque now but i will switch to a Velar when the first kid arrives in a few years. Till then the evoque is more than enough but the boot space is not the greatest that’s for sure
Ive recently bought an hse dynamic lovely car inside but im actually changing it and lost quite a bit of money in doing so . Im 5ft woman and the electric seat doesn't go high enough up so I need a large cushion to see the road. The road noise is dreadful and feel every bump. I love land rover and range rover but just not this one . Previously had a Freelander 2 for 11 years which was a brilliant car and regretting getting rid of it . Will be buying this brand again but a larger vehicle
Apparently, and I didn't get this in to the video - the previous 2.2 non-Ingenium diesel was pretty bad on economy! So the later cars are quite good, given their heavy weight, but the earlier ones no so much
Thanks JJ for another top quality review. In many ways it would be a very good car for me in terms of size, looks and all round capabity but the reliabity concerns would really put me off compared to a toyota, honda, mazda.
Sorry, I miss the ADVERTISING in big letters above. LandRover is a small company, every car they build is a preliminary series compared to volume producers, but they put everything in that the OEM supplied. Of course not everything works as intended. The ingenium engine is clearly worse than the PSA Ford 2.2l, the petrol tank protection cover rusts away soon (and they couldn't deliver it more than a year), the haldex clogs up at 100000km and the 6-speed automatic was a pain in the ass. But the first generation was mainly a Ford and as such better than most LandRovers. But do to try to transport a 3m long plank, the passenger seat will not fold over. And do not try to go offroad. Eben my Mazda Tribute and Suzuki Vitara were more capable - and easier to repair. But the Evoque is great on Highways, smooth riding.
It's certainly a good question. The Evoque does have a certain style that many people like, and it's a Range Rover so there's that badge going for it. But if you wanted a more practical/spacious car then the Discovery is the one to go for

Lovely looking car and an excellent review of it 👌
Thanks Will!
Once again, I am loving Backseat JJ's hairdo. A real winner.
Haha cheers I'll let him know. Best not to encourage him though 😂

Nice review! Whats is your favourite mid priced SUV so far?

great review, the Evoque still looks good in 2023. Weird how the mk2 Evoque hasn't taken off the same way they mk1 did.

Interesting, this is the first time I've seen the interior of one of these and I'm very surprised about the mpg 🤔, not too far off the average car

Thanks David! Yeah, that's the price you pay for some entry level British luxury 😄

So expensive all sparePart
Why buy an Evoke when the similar sized Discovery Sport offers a 7 seat option, looks better, and is a similar price.

0.19....built by Land Rover known for designing gear boxes that turn to dust more accurate
😂
That’s not true. How do you guys even use cars?
@@johnzenkin1344 Funny how almost everyone bashing LR online never owned one on their own 😂
The automatic gearbox is made by ZF and is used by many top of the range car manufacturers.
