Me too. Worst thing is is that I know exactly what that type of screwdriver is called, but I brainfarted and went googling for "foreign screwdriver", thinking it was some high quality brand of tools.
Curious if you're all non-U.S.? Because in the U.S. that tool is super common and so I knew exactly what he was saying (I have one of those 4-in-1's in each of my cars, my kitchen, my work... :)
@@VanGoWanderlust yes, non-US. Those tools are reasonably common over here, although I can't recall ever hearing or seeing an official name. I've always just called them four-way screwdrivers. Lovely idea Laura! Maybe add a removable liner to the magical parts pocket? That way, greasy parts won't make the pocket permanently greasy and make all your future finds greasy too! This was a very fascinating video, one of your best creations, I'm all about EDC, have been for years. I think you nailed it with this EDC bag. Awesome, can't wait to see an actual one and all the functions it will have. Nicely done!
I live in Japan. I carry a flashlight in my daily briefcase, in addition to a mini Leatherman. I transfer them to my rucksack when I travel. I haven't needed them yet, but the day will come.
Adam's 4-in-1 screwdriver is nice, but at least here in Canada, the Pic-Quik screwdriver has 7 bits and 2 nut drivers in about the same size, very durable, not too expensive. You might be able to order one in. Of course, two of the bits are Robertson/square drive, which is everywhere in Canada but not as common in America, but you could just swap in any type of bit since it uses standard 1/4" hex drive.
This video covered so many of the things I'm interested in, I'm a: bag nerd, EDC nerd, recycling and repurposing nerd... It really was awesome, I enjoyed a lot ❤

I made an “emotional support” stationary roll. Can’t live without stationary items… made it from wet felted rescued wool and old black denim jeans and a pair of jacket cuffs with studs….
For several years now my go-to ratchet screwdriver has been a Lutz 15-in-one that features slotted, phillips, torx and square bits in varied sizes. Unbelievably handy for a single tool. A bit heavier than your 4-in-one, but not by much. Say hi to Smudo for me!
I think I saw one of your Tape Mates on the latest episode of Emma Builds Birbie. She’s building a houseboat and her friend Gordo had one on his belt. Side note, people watching this would love her channel. 😉 I keep thinking that a collaboration between Emma, Laura, and Simone would be fun.
This is super cool, really looking forward to seeing you use it! I'm especially interested in how the tool roll flap affects everyday usability and access to the bag, as to me having a heavy flap full of stuff that I have to move to access the contents of a bag is an absolute deal breaker. It just makes the most frequent interactions I have with the bag (getting to whatever is inside of it) vastly less practical and pleasant, plus the ergonomics of lifting a cloth flap holding dense, heavy things just really don't work for me. But of course our use cases and preferences are different! So, as I said, super interested in seeing how this works for you!
I just made myself a leather fannypack satchel, that I'm still working on the for, but now you have completely re-thinking the design. Guess I now get to figure a good way to mate my leather satchel with a tool roll made from the carcass of an old backpack I no longer use. Watching maker channels always begets me more hobby work. :)
I would LOVE THIS for my drawing supplies. I often walk around with a couple Copic markers, sketching pencils, two sketchpads etc. This would be PERFECT!!!!
Was that Adam saying he likes to get blitzed? 😏 Awesome, lovely, heartwarming video as always, Laura. I've been looking for a small hip pack thats just big enough to carry tools, pump and a spare tube when I'm on the bike, and this looks like the perfect form factor. One suggestion I'd make is to have enough space between the belt loops to carry a u-lock. I don't know how much wide appeal that would have, but itd certainly be useful.
The 4in1 scene is so funny. I laughed so hard wathing this for the first time. Also very relatable for a native german speaker consuming a alot of english content!

"Emotional Support Tool Roll" (ESTR) - pronounced like 'Esther.' Meaning of the name 'Esther': The name Esther is believed to be derived from the Hebrew root s-t-r, meaning "to hide," which reflects the Persian queen's concealed identity. Alternatively, it's linked to the Old Persian word stāra, meaning "star," which connects to the Near Eastern goddess Ishtar. So, a bag named after something that means both 'hide' and 'star'-perfect for discreetly stashing your cool street finds while shining bright in your unique way! I absolutely love it!

I was hoping to see some kind of process for laying things out, working through problems. What I got was a personable chat with Savage followed by “the bag man did it!” Bag looks cool, what I saw of it.
Great idea to grab the parts you did I never would have thought about those parts. I thought the little rubber feet looked like a useful item and probably would have stopped there.
I love this video ^^. In terms of screwdrivers, I must say I am loving the one that LTT (LinusTechTips) has made. It ratchets very nicely (doubles as a fidget haha) and stores a lot of bits inside!
The perfect bag is like finding a sparkly rainbow unicorn with wings! When you design one or find the right one, the heavens open up and all you hear is “aaaahhh”
I still like my multi tool Gerber needle nose and flashlight I did medical systems repair for decades and that was my 75% tool kit. Any thing above that and I was lugging in the big guns and test equipment. Multimeters, oscilloscope, ratchet drives. Etc and yesterday I would carry a 6 in one driver most times as well but nor always.
Dear Laura, I adore you! Love this video, you are so inspiring! ❤️❤️❤️ I will make a little bag for the tools by myself recycling and reusing some of my old stuff and bags
Oh my god I want one!!! If you publish a pattern I could maaaybe crank one out on my old Singer 15. Also, in the microwave shot, you were down the street from Mission Workshop, another fantastic bag maker!
Laura. Fantastic video ..what a great idea . I’m a woodcarver this bag would be great for taking on a hike or to the club when doing a small project,, be great if you could add a rain cover, like on many back packs . Say hello to the family for me 👍😇🇺🇸
As you know, Laura, with daily use, you will find ways to tweak and perfect the design. Iterate that prototype first so you aren’t forcing the iteration upon your most loyal fans. Certainly don’t OVERthink it… but certainly don’t UNDERthink it and rush things to market. Calling it an emotional support tool roll is awesome. With that awesomeness comes a huge responsibility to follow through on a promise. It’s no longer just a simple bag when it takes on that level of gravity! Have you already found the ideal supplier (bulk discount) for things like that ratchet strap closure? I have a Timbuk2 bag that is still going strong after nearly 20 years. As I’m sure you know, that thing is the gold standard because it was iterated by bike messengers for bike messengers. I want to know more about the decisions you make over materials and reinforced stitches and such. I love your commitment to your design aesthetic. I want to see more of the proof that only iteration can provide. Thank you as always for your effort to create wonderful content. Don’t let too much of your Köln coolness succumb to the California madness. Please stay YOU! All the best, -C

I was hoping to see some kind of process for laying things out, working through problems.
What I got was a personable chat with Savage followed by “the bag man did it!”
Bag looks cool, what I saw of it.
Fun idea! If the production doesn't work out, perhaps you could share or sell the pattern for it? Thanks for sharing!
Great idea to grab the parts you did I never would have thought about those parts. I thought the little rubber feet looked like a useful item and probably would have stopped there.
wonderful trip to SF visiting the best people. great job
You are so awesome ❤ i am always inspired by you.
"Emotional support tool roll". You just described my 50-year long quest for the perfect bag. 😆 Will join you on Patreon this second.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS……..I can’t wait to purchase one!
This is really cool! I want to try to make one of my own prototype version based off of what I saw on this video!
Definitely joining the Patreon. Would LOVE this bag!
Hi! I'm from Costa Rica & I love your bag is very nice to carry every thing❤
Love this bag! I would totally want one as it has features I would love in a bag.
These are amazing!! I would totaly buy one!
Awesome product. I definitely want one
Dear Laura, I adore you!
Love this video, you are so inspiring! ❤️❤️❤️
I will make a little bag for the tools by myself recycling and reusing some of my old stuff and bags
Your bag gave me ideas for bags I make. I would like to say that I sell them in France, but I don't really have any orders.
while back you mentioned needing a slower motor for you tumbleweed project, if that still is valid.
Oh my god I want one!!! If you publish a pattern I could maaaybe crank one out on my old Singer 15. Also, in the microwave shot, you were down the street from Mission Workshop, another fantastic bag maker!
This is like Bell Labs or something it’s great to see you & your friends problem solving. Bravo to this teamwork🎉🎉🎉
Laura. Fantastic video ..what a great idea . I’m a woodcarver this bag would be great for taking on a hike or to the club when doing a small project,, be great if you could add a rain cover, like on many back packs . Say hello to the family for me 👍😇🇺🇸
This will be awesome!
I love the nerdiness of this, and it appeals to me as a low-level scavenger
All the best,
-C
