aw man just imagine all the stuff that never got recorded, i know some of if not most of my best drum moments have only been and will only ever be heard once.
Louis is one of those rare guys who's invented his own genre of music...not only is Clown Core a multi-disciplinary type of music it is 100% the pure spirit of clowning
I sincerely hope Louis one day makes an album filled with just choir arrangements. The way he effortlessly channels grand masters like Clare Fischer, Claus Ogerman or Brian Wilson, simply baffles me.
#7..... stunning! Enya first cornered the market on hundreds of voices recorded on one track. It's a weird comparison.... but that really is what he's got going there. He was born for music. The end!!
I saw the original cut of this video where he played them all at the same time. It was fairly impressive. He told me personally that he excluded that shot from the uploaded version as he didn't want to come across as arrogant. I told him that his fanbase would be understanding; but he is stubbornly humble. Sequence 7 is one take btw. Captured on a 29 lens camera.
The Zesty Chunk at 2:54 he starts to play kinda watered down version of a song called Overtime which is from a duo he’s in called knower. They make good shit
Sometimes his performance is very hard to comprehend. The first drum clip leaves me speechless. What an outstanding talent. What a diligence. And he´s still a young guy. I´m curious about the next surprises to come. Chapeau mille fois! Btw: His band Knower is also a killer...
Number 4: One of the rare times we get to see Cole actually make a "concentration face". I beginning to think he just didn't struggle with anything haha Also, number 7 has some clear Sigur Ros/Jonsi influence in those super high pitched/vibrato-y lines. Just gorgeous.
This isn’t just some nu Funk guy, or a guy that put in more hours than anyone else, this isn’t just some guy who studied music music, and plays a lot of instruments. This guy got some crazy ass once in a generation kind of brain. Didn’t know anything about him other than I put a few of his songs and playlists, and I keep recycling them over and over again. Today I went to his Spotify page and dove in. There’s something more than the notes, than the chops, then the extraordinary ability. Something way more than jumping around, playing little funky riffs, and trying to make something people will like. There’s some thing that you can’t explain, the thing that the greats have, that the legends have, something that transcends words, opinions, plays… Louis Cole is no normal motherfucker. He has something the other kids don’t have. And the other kids don’t have to fucking live with it every day and put their head on the pillow with her at night either. The world is a better place with Louis Cole in it . 🙏
Dude, thank you so much for saying this! I had no idea, either. I just saw Cory Wong at the Troubador on Saturday and he was playing some Louis Cole videos before the show started. I was thinking to myself "hmm, I wonder if Louis is gonna be doing shows again soon?" but then I got Wong'd for 2 hours and forgot all about it until now. I'm also extremely intrigued by the fact the title of this show/tour is "Louis Cole Big Band". If it's anything like the big band that Jacob Mann (with Louis on drums, ofc) put together, I'm gonna lose my shit. That group was amazing, and there was a lot of overlap because most of those same musicians played on the Louis Cole "live sesh" songs.
@barbarino Yeah, I got to see Knower before I even knew who they were. They opened for "Thundercat" back in 2015 (I think) in LA and they blew my mind. I've been a fan of Louis and Genevieve ever since then. My only regret is not getting to see them again when they had a full band, especially when Sam was playing bass with them. I don't know if we'll get any specific details on the upcoming shows, but the whole labeling it as a "big band" is awesome and if it actually means that literally, I'm gonna be in heaven. The blending of my favorite genres and Louis is crazy and good enough to pull it off.
Thousand faces artist ! My Favorite : number 3 and 7 (prime numbers) for the spirit in it... Artiste aux milles visages !
