    As an extraterrestrial evaluator of life on newly discovered planets, I will be submitting this quilt to my leaders as proof that Earth humans, hitherto thought to be violent mindless meat sacks, have the capacity for creativity, mathematics, humor, and beauty, which will exempt the species from emergency planet-saving extermination measures for the next five consecutive centuries, at which point we will reevaluate humanity's progress (or decline). This distinction does not, however, alter my conclusion that dolphins are the best representation of life in this particular solar system.

    How freaking fun!! I think it would be so fun to then use these blocks as a basis for important dates - like a birthdate or anniversary, on the back of a quilt. So generations from now you’ll have a trail of quilts dependent on this Rosetta Stone quilt! 🤯

    Wow another killer video, the closest to a math quilt I made was with a kid-I-fied periodic table quilt, where I used fun prints in the table and only used certain elements to spell words, so not a hard core science quilt. It was for a little boy. Can’t wait until your next video!!!!

    I'm currently writing about prime numbers in patchwork and quilting and have been trying to find a way to represent them visually. So whilst I don't profess to understand all of this, it's given me a great starting point so thanks very much for that! I love the finished quilt 😊

    This is so fun and beautiful! You're so right that even mathphobes use math every day. I really like the black lines you used to separate the solids of the same color --they work great with the black sashing. This is the epitome of modern quilting. Isn't free motion embroidery the best? I use it to make labels now because it's quick and easy and I know it will last.

    • @Craftythrifter
      @Craftythrifter Рік тому +2

      Hey that’s a great idea for the labels, never thought of that! And I doubt I would have thought of doing the numbers with the fm foot either. If you could loosen up, which I think we can all agree Dave does well, it’s a good method.

    I stumbled across your channel while looking for FPP advice, and when I saw this quilt, I HAD to make my own version. I've been referring to it as my "super nerdy" quilt -- I decided to hand embroider the numbers and have been working on those while I cover the front desk at work every day. I ended up buying a FQ bundle of solids to go with larger amounts of the fabrics for 2, 3, 5, and 7. I made things harder for myself by piecing all the squares instead of just cutting larger pieces for the blocks with multiples of the same factor and then stitching on the little black divider strips. I'm also thinking I will use some of the leftover fabric to piece some Fibonacci spirals for the backing.
    Did I mention I've pieced ONE quilt top and have completed ZERO quilts so far?
