  • In this video I make a quilt using Karen Nyberg's Earth Views Fabric line. Karen Nyberg is an astronaut who made a fabric line based on photographs that she took from space .
This is where I bought the fabric from: www.fatquartershop.com/robert...
This is where I got the pattern: www.karennybergart.com/digita...

I don’t know whether to thank you or curse you. I’ve just watched this video and then just had to go buy a fortune in this fabric. As I’m in Australia I’ll have to wait for weeks and weeks for it to arrive. I can’t wait, finally a fabric that sings to me❤❤

Love your quilts. It gives me confidence to try new things. Also, I wash small fabric in a mesh bag. This works great and they are easy to press. Keep the great videos coming

So glad I found your channel. Your creativity is amazing. Love the range of quilts you create, from Hawaiian to recycled shirts and everything in between. Excellent editing. Good music, not too loud. Your voice is easy to listen to.
I used to wash and dry all my fabric because 1. shrinkage and 2. my mother washed all her quilt fabric. Then I read somewhere, think it was Leah Day, combined pre-washed (thrift store, colors that may run) and unwashed new and didn't seem to make a difference. Dozens and dozens of quilts later I agree.

I use a lint roller on the edges of my jelly rolls before I open them and it does help quite a bit to stop the mess.

Important international news introduction and truly cool quilt project taken to new heights with your thought provoking quote added across your t-shirt black hole in the middle. 👌🏆
Last night I watched half of a UA-cam documentary video. The part I watched was focused on the history ships and airplanes going missing when crossing the Bermuda triangle. It was very interesting learning about what the Scientist Researcher-- who had spent the entirety of the last 15 years doing research about the Bermuda Triangle--had found out. Also, the experiences of two pilots--first a Father and then his Son--who had flown many timed over the black hole were very interesting. The reason I am mentioning all this is to say maybe you could listen to this documentary, to the end where UFOs etc.somehow becime part of the story...and then make a quilt about it. Another reason/chance to use up more of your black t-shirts for the black hole and outer space. Also, when all of that stuff fell off of the jelly roll it looked like star dust after the pile was lifted and just spots remained. This is all to say that your latest quilt gives rise to a whole bunch of ideas to create another quilt that spans across space and time. With you as designer I'm positive these abstract surrealist quilts would just get progressively cool. Thanks for the lessons in creative process; great fun making fine art that is fueled by the thoughts and achievements of others while allowing oneself to not only think outside the pattern, but into a new paradigm. 🎉 🏆

    Hi Dave,
Your quilt interpretations are great. Have you considered making a book shelf quilt? I think you would have some amazing ideas for one and I would love to see your interpretation.

Hey, Dave! New to your channel and now subscribed. Your quilt is beautiful! Love your text and FMQ! Love the back jersey background.
An easy way to do the turned-edge appliqué, is to sew the circles/letters right sides together to the fusible bond. Slit the fusible bond and turn right sides out. Fuse and topstitch.
I don’t buy jelly rolls very often, but I always use the lint roll on a jelly roll as soon as I unwrap it.
WOW! Lots of unsolicited suggestions from a complete stranger. Sorry about that! 😂🤣😂
Looking forward to future videos and catching up on your previous ones!
    Thanks, and stay well!

interesting - did you make the "N" in "faring" backwards on purpose? Saw it right away in the camera, but I know it's hard to pick up when you're working on something!
For some reason you didn't hear me yelling at you, as you ironed them on.... 😊

    • @davescraftroom
      @davescraftroom  3 місяці тому

A capital N looks the same when you flip it upside down but in this case I cut it out backwards 😜 I could flip it over and show the back of the N but that would show the wrong side of the fabric; some fabrics don't have a right and wrong side so that would have worked but in this case it was gonna be backwards no matter which way I flipped it, so I just decided to leave it 😂
