Very interesting theory but major flaw
For Light to plan in advance that he would die,become a Shinigami and then die again to be reborn as a human with Shinigami eyes:
1 Already he would have to have been sure that he would become a Shinigami once dead,though thats something Ryuk never explicitly said.
2 He would have to have known about BB.You may think that he would have read about it though the Japanese police records which he had access to but there wouldnt be any records since it was the FBI that was responsible for this affair.
3.Even if he somehow knew about BB,it is completely unsure whether ther reason he had Shinigami eyes was because he was a reincarnated Shinigami.Personally I dont think Light would take this kind of risk.
4.Even if Light was persuaded he would be reborn with the Shinigami eyes ,he would have no recollection of his plan since he would be born in a new body(we can presume that BB had no memories of his time as a Shinigami).So it would be pointless for Light since his new body could have other convintions.
All in all,although whether it is unsure if BB is a resurrected Shinigami,Light certainly did not plan to die,become a Shinigami and be reborn as a human.On a bonus point,I find it very strange that BB and L shared the same look(very clear in the novel).Could they be twins,in which case why would L not inherit the Shinigami eyes.Phhhjjjjjj Its such a conplex story!
DuoReview another theory is that his mother was suicidal while pregnant and made the eye deal to cut her own life but give the eyes to her child who was born with them
I feel like(if you've read the death note another note novel you may get a similar impression) some major plot mysteries(like L's real name,BB eye origins and even identity of death note creator Tsugumi Ohba) can be solved with everything in the series. Seriously,someone wouldnt just write the best manga of all time and stay hidden,Ohba is extremely smart(he literally created Light and L) and I think there are clues left in the series for smart individuals to find.
So my take on Shinigami is that they are the punishment for using the Death Note. The human who uses a Death Note becomes a Shinigami when they die, and live a life of boredom and suffering in the Shinigami realm until they stop clinging to their existence by killing people.
I also think that all Shinigami retain their human memories, however after decades and centuries pass, their "brains" toss out those memories as useless information, as they never interact with the human world in any meaningful way.
Wouldn't surprise me if it is a punishment. Though I feel like the punishment may not always work. XD

Dolfy Himmler Well Lucifer in latin literally means “Bringer of light”, so it’s kinda cool to think of Light as a reincarnation of Lucifer.
Also, Lucifer not just evil for the sake of being evil, he just didnt want to submit to humans, like all the other angels, who sort of protect us.

Not saying that Isn't a good idea, but what about this:
If Light truly was reincarnated as a shinigami and held onto his memories, he used his new form to return to his acts as Kira, only now, having a near immortal body that cannot be seen by normal humans and could not be stopped by any form of law enforcement like Near. He could then sit alongside Near or whoever else is investigating him then, and taunt them directly in ways they couldn't fully trace back to him as even their best attempts to hide the names of criminals would fail since Light could easily go into and out of prisons at will to write their names in the Death Note while looking at them directly. Even the police trying to move criminals to a secret underground prison wouldn't work since Light could find out where it was by simply being an unseen observer among the conversations.
I think possibly that Light may have even given up his plan or his original plan. I think him losing and the way he was before he died effected him (after death if he did become a shinigami) This does explain a little why that shinigami knew ryuk liked apples, and didn't want to hear the ending of the story. The shinigami was more interested in finding out how to get to the human world, not having a death note or anything. So, basically, Light no longer cares because he was fully defeated. He knew he become a shinigami, he knew Near had beaten him, he knew his trust in Mikami was his downfall, he knew his girlfriend (Misa) no longer knew he was Kira and Alive, he knew he killed his father, betrayed his family and friends. He now has no desire to become a God or kill people anymore, he now only wants what Ryuk had. He will do the same exact thing Ryuk did. Instead of killing Near, Light will make him have other Kiras to fight, endlessly.
That would be a much deeper meaning than Light become a shinigami and straight up kills Near (be too easy) instead he simply chooses now to be a TRUE shinigami.
In the original rules of the deathnote, a shinigami can't go to the human world with out a reason. The only way they can is: 1. If there attached to a human 2. if they dropped there note book or 3. If there looking for a human that has there deathnote. So if Light was a shinigami, he wouldnt be able to go to the human world with out giving someone his deathnote. Which i dought light would do. The only logical way for Light to watch everyone is from the shinigami world and look down onto the human world, only then can be watch everyone and screw them over.

In a twisted way, I think that killing as a shirigami to stop crime could be considered an act of love for the world, immediately killing light and leaving him without deathnote

Alternate theory- we never found out if the Shinigami Eyes can be passed down or not. Wasn't it mentioned that Death Notes have fallen in the human world before but the humans usually die rather quickly and don't go on for years like Light did. What if a previous Death Note owner that did the eye deal knocked up BB's mom before he died?

@@AA-tz2bm BB was the second child brought into Wammy’s House to be L’s successor, and he was born with Shinigami Eyes. I don’t think anything in canon has explained how or why though.
If Near "cheated" by using the Death Note, does that possibly mean that he will ALSO be reincarnated as a Shinigami? 🤔 He wouldn't know though. Could there be an infinite cycle of detectives going against Kira?

@@frostanimations9842 Its a theory that Mikami was being controlled at the end by a Death note the real Death note Near had not the fake or fake pages and that is what confirmed who Kira was a sort of "cheat" all though it seems like Near pulling out all the stops it defies something and defies how I guess L would play thus being a cheat.

Not really. Death Note rules states that no human, under any circumstances, return back to life.
So light gets to get brought back to life all the time, he basically is a God then.

If light became death god, who lost his human memory it’s possible he could obtain it back by touching the death note that he previously used.
You know that could explain why shinigami don’t remember reincarnating because they die they technically lose ownership of the death note resulting in the memory loss or at the very least lost memories of the death note which could be why that shinigami (whether light or not) wanted to know the story because if that shinigami is light then he wouldn’t remember and wanted ryuk to tell him

I normally love your theories but I really didn't like this one
1: there's no evidence that a Shinigami reincarnates into a human, as logical as it is logic isn't proof
2: you gave no explanation on how light would remember his past lives and find the death note every time
(I’ll answer these how it makes sense to me)
1.The lack of evidence corresponds with the lack of knowledge we have about it. During all of death note there are only 2 circumstances where a shinigami dies, both for falling in love. They become obliterated for dying for that reason not allowing them to find love on earth. (The most painful death for these specific Shinigami who die for love)This for me kind of pushed the likelihood of Shinigami becoming humans after death.However we aren’t in the death note uninverse finding evidence won’t happen.
2.Going off this video, light had his memories mainly in tact after death as he becomes a Shinigami. Hence it would be likely to think this would happen again if he died again. So then it seems likely he could do this many times. As for finding the death note, He is a Shinigami and has a death note in the Shinigami world. As stated in the video he could hide his death note as a Shinigami and find it again as a human, that is if he finds it.

@@lennonrush7684 I know that however, in this theory light does somehow, perhaps it's exclusive to light for some extraneous reason. B.B. was pretty crazy tho, maybe he did have his memories. I find it strange he was able to do all those awful things, and willfully end it the way he did, perhaps he wasn't fully human. Although I guess you could say some humans do lack morals.

Not if they're constantly dismissed as crazy, or it was called witchcraft, or even if they never mention it to anyone else. There are probably many more explanations that would keep people from believing it was real/possible. After all, the shinigami exist, death notes had fallen to earth before, but they were still relatively unknown/dismissed as something else.
Nice theory but I believe that the unnamed shinigami, doesn’t have his memories and eventually steal Ryuk’s death note to regain his memory rather than him still remembering on every plane of existence. After he would go back to the human world and meet Ryuk again who gave another death note to a middle schooler called Minoru Tanaka. This makes him angry as Minoru Tanaka wants to sell the death note. So he overthrew the shinigami king and became the next shinigami king and made it against the law to sell a death note. This forces Ryuk to kill Minoru Tanaka, and submit to Light, the true god. As the ruler of the shinigami, Light reforms the shinigami world, making it compulsory to end human life. He also wants to repopulate the shinigami, so he allows them to mate creating more shinigami. He later finds out that all humans end up in the shinigami world after they die as the shinigami world is to be a wasteland signifying nothing. He finds out that L has reincarnated into a shinigami. But he dosen’t have his memories but is still smart so the two shinigami work together to kill everyone in human realm so he can live longer than any other shinigami. This what I think would happen if Light came back. It’s based of the guy who made an alternate manga and other comments below along with the UA-cam video’s theory.
I can immediately see a few problems with that, but it's definitely an intriguing idea, and with some tweaks could be bloody epic.
I was thinking the theory may have been perhaps one fo BB’s parents possessed a death note and made the eye deal, and BB was conceived while one of the parents had the Shinigami eyes and inherited them. But this sounds a lot more logical lol 😂

Shinigami’s memories are fuzzy in the reright light leaves before ryuk even finishes the story as he already knows how it’s gonna end and doesn’t want to hear it again
Cool concept, but why would he want to go back to being a human? He could literally just float around as god of the new world without having to turn human.

maybe he was bored? Being immortal for thousands or hundreds, heck years is boring. he probably would want a challenge. He taunted L many times like the time where he tested the death note and made criminals write "L did you know gods of death only eats apples?" or when L watched light through a camera in his house and putting a bait on the tv to see lights reaction. Instead of being quite he openly said that it would be unlikely for kira to fall for something familiar after light getting baited by lind, l tailor. When L died light kept on saying how boring it was without a competition. L even said that light is childish. I could be wrong tho.
I have the same opinion but Spooky Skeleton i right about that light maybe he just wanted a challenge and becoming a god that easily wouldn't satisfy him.
You don't really base this off much do you? Sorry, not a jab, just noticing, but If there were to be a second season I'd much prefer it with light as a shinigami, in order to avoid him being too overpowered we could say that acting as kira would kill him, because of the lives saved, he could confirm this by finding mikami in shinigami form, and convincing him to continue the killings, this would also be how he gets a second death note, for him to give to a human, who'll act as his disciple, show him stretching the rules for the shinigami, about a third into it show him using his own death note to help his disciple evade capture, when it's asked why he isn't dying he'll say "because I wrote your name first" revealing that he just needed the death note back, two thirds in and near gets hold of the death note, allowing near and light to interact again, at which point near could theorize as to how shinigami die, (getting it right of course, I do think he has enough breadcrumbs to figure it out) and that the very fact that light is a planner means that he can't kill near himself, as he's already got his next disciple picked out, then in the third and final arc he'd give out his own notebook (keeping a page for insurance) and have to contend with near and the task force being able to see him, that's how I'd imagine it.

The live action movies have a slightly different approach than the anime, but the recent one was almost like a sequel to Death Note.
The movie is Death Note : Light up The New World, and it is kind of about Light's plan after his death!
This anime has been released years ago and still people are making theories about it.. which proves how much it makes an impact to the viewers

Acually, if kira would come back as a shimigami without being able to do the whole cycle thingie he wouldn't be invisible.
Light wants to make a better world and kille of criminals, but here's the catch he cannot kill anyone to prolong anyone elses lifespan making killing to make the world better extremely difficult.
If we were to get a sequel or continuation to Death Note, it should be a new main character using the Death Note, with Light as their Shinigami - the Shinigami known as Kira.

In the manga, one of the rules of the notebook is that if you use it you go to Mu {or nothingness}. *The shinigami realm is NOT Mu*
Death Note is my favorite anime my favorite character is Light
Light always wanted to be the God which could mean G= god, O= of and D= death. Which could refer to how a secret shimigami wants to meet ryuk and ask about the human world. This could mean that light became the god of death or G.O.D
I love how this anime is relevant even after more than a decade.

Few holes in the theory though.. Now, if we accept the postulate of Light being reborn as a Shinigami, his memories intact.. What sense would it make for him to even go back to the regular world as a human? His basic motivation for becoming Kira is essentially ridding humanity of "bad" people, enacting his brand of justice, to the point of being willing to sacrifice himself for it (ref. first scene where he met Ryuk). Is it not easier to do if he actually IS a Shinigami? I mean, no one can really touch him, or even see him, if he just keeps going doing what he did, while being an actual god of death. Why even bother going through the motions, reincarnating, and all that?
Second point - Light is, in essence, a psychopath. So, how exactly would he die, as a Shinigami? I imagine him dying because he sacrificed himself for a mortal would be out of the question, because that emotion is not likely to be on his emotional spectrum. And even if it isnt, its not like he can plan to fall in love, in order to then sacrifice himself, thus ending his life... So, the only way that remains, that we know about, is him "starving" himself to death. Which may take a while... we dont know what kind of lifespan Shinigami start with when reincarnated. For all practical purposes it could be centuries long... And afaik, Shinigami cannot see the lifespan of other Shinigami, nor their own, eyes or no eyes... So Light would essentially have no base to plan his potential "return".
So, while the idea is interesting, it has a few things that needs addressing before it is plausible.))) Gj though.

So why would Light need to become a human again in the first place though? Wouldn't carrying out his plans as a Shinigami, who are invisible, can fly and read names and lifespans be so much more convenient?
One issue i have is how light would be able to remember everything if he manages to reincarnate as a human i mean BB didnt appear to have all memories of a possible shinagami which died and reincarnated as BB
I think that he wouldn't get reincarnated, but I feel that he would use his shinigami death note to become a literal god by destroying criminals
Do a theory on this, what if we been viewing death note in the wrong "light". A lot people seem to think Light lost but that is actually NOT TRUE at all ASMF it could be further from it.. Lights goal from episode 1 was to become god of the new world, and in order to do that he would need to have a period of reign .. He's only obstacle was L was in his way. . We all know what happens light ultimately KILLs L.. With there being a 5 YEAR time skip of light finally reigning over the world... Which in case light achieved his goal of becoming the god but failed to have the LONG LASTING reign..

If I remember correctly? The owner of the Death Note I’m his possession would have to write his name in THEIR Death Note and according to your theory he’d be the owner of his own Death Note, therefore unless Light was stupid enough to write his own name, which we all know he wouldn’t, he could potentially never die. To quote Ryuk from the first episode, “you will feel the fear and pain known only to humans who’ve used the notebook and when it’s your time to die, it will fall onto me to write your name in my Death Note.” Take it with a grain of salt but if what Ryuk’s saying is to be taken as straightforward as I may believe for this to work, then Light would literally be immortal, since he clearly falls outside of Shinigami rules if he were human and like I said earlier, he wouldn’t be likely to write his own name
I don't think he'd want to go back to life. I mean, he basically can't be killed as a shinigami, he has the eyes, and a death note. He can just peacefully finish what he started as Kira, and nobody's able to stop him. So actually there's really no point in catching Kira, he'll always be back, but since he's a shinigami, he'll be even stronger. Also, the person who uses the death note can't go to heaven or hell, right? Then doesn't that mean Takada, Misa, Mikami, Higuchi, Mello etc. are shinigamies too? A lot of people used the death note, so does that mean they all became shinigamies?
I finished death note the other night and I just can’t believe both of my favorite characters died…Near was just plot armor, if it wasn’t for that idiot who also wrote lights collage girlfriends in the fake light would have had a chance to escape for a while and maybe fake his death then kill everyone else and fake L’s death as well then work underground controlling the world from the inside and then when that all fails he does what was mentioned in the video keep the reincarnation infinity.

Light could have told mikami the first time they met to take atleast 5 pages from real death note and write a different name on each of them to see if they were real, IF mikami was controlled by near , then when he went to the door to laugh ; he could have taken their photos and send to misa and told her to write their names in the death note pages; SHE MUST HAVE ATLEAST ONE; she had shinigami eyes she could she even see names from pics Light shouldve told her the time near arranged the meeting so she could be on her phone that time for those who say mikami shouldnot have killed takada and let light do the work

Lmao no we haven't established that Light became a shinigami. That's a nonsense fan theory that got popular. The rules within death note were very clearly against any sort of afterlife experience for humans.
I understand that some may not agree with the theory but it isn't a "nonsense theory that got popular", it does have some logic and reasoning to it. There is plenty reasons why it makes sense and plenty reasons why it doesn't make sense.
The rules also did not state no afterlife experience but rather that the user can neither go to heaven or hell. This is a important distinction due to the fact we know there are other realms such as the Shinigami Realm and Mu.
I haven't actually watched the video yet as I wanted to reply to you but there are plenty videos and written theories out there, if this video does not explain very well or something.
@@louiselouise1782 I'm well acquainted with this stupid theory actually, I've heard all sides of it. It's just plain wrong and wishful thinking by fans who can't bring themselves to accept that Light died.
The rules clearly state that ALL HUMANS, not just users of death note, go to nothingness (mu). They cease to exist. There is absolutely no hint or indication or even a remote suggestion that humans can become shinigami. People came up with this all on their own. It's complete nonsense and actually does the story a huge disservice by cheapening the beautifully done conclusion of Death Note. The story was a moral tale with a hard lesson at the end. Light coming back to life as a shinigami is not just facepalmingly absurd, it's appalling from an artistic/narrative standpoint as well.

I personally like the idea, not because I particularly want Light to live or because I don't respect the lesson being taught but because it seems somewhat fitting as penance for Light as he though he was above humanity and tried using something godly/inhuman to try and place himself above them, so now he has to watch over them for eternity.
I don't necessarily think it is what happened but I just find it an interesting theory tbh. I do understand why you find it upsetting as well but I just did not think it was totally fair to imply it was bullshit just because you disliked it. Obviously there are people out there with terrible theories but I don't know, everyone can take different things from the series and what story/lesson it was trying to teach.

How is it penance for Light if he literally becomes an immortal god? That's literally a pro, not a con, not to mention it'd make his death meaningless. Also, it shows a fundamental lack of understanding of Light's character motivations. He did what he did to benefit the world *as a human* . It doesn't behoove him to make the world a just place if he's no longer a part of it, and even less sense as a death god external to the human experience. Doing so implies that he's completely selfless and wants no recognition, which disregards a main part of his crusade - "I want the world to know of my existence!"
I find theories about L or Rem surviving more pleasing than this theory. It completely undoes the grand and terrible legacy of the mad prodigy Light Yagami

I also don't think there is a "correct" way to interpret a character or their motivations. Some think what Light was doing was just and others may not, it doesn't overly matter on the why and how, people will interpret things differently to suit their own beliefs, mentality and theories.

Yeah that could be one. I've always personally seen it as an exploration of what justice really is, in that there really isn't a true "justice," but instead individuals mold the concept to fit their ideals.
While it's not implausible for Light to keep scheming if he were to reincarnate and retain memories, I have a feeling if he were to stay on his Kira kick then he'd be missing the big picture.
The alloted lifespans aren't just a biological thing, they even account for deaths by other means. Their very nature suggests a form of predestination.
Yet the Shinigami sustain themselves by cutting short the lives of humans, which suggests a bit of randomness designed into the system.
Let's just look at how the Death Note exerts supernatural power independent of the one who uses it. All this suggests powers at work in the Death Note universe operating on a much larger scale than Kira's social engineering.
To be blunt, Light would reveal himself to be a massive fool if he stuck to the old goal. If the idea of Kira was desirable to the greater powers, then he was just an arrogant puppet. If not, then pursuing that path over multiple lifetimes would raise their ire.
But at that point the series would be dead as it evolves into a series about actual gods squaring off when I think the original charm was something supernatural entering our world and turning a mere mortal into a magnificent bastard.
Here’s also another reason kind of proving the theory that light is a shinigami. When Light dies he is at the middle of the stairs. But if you look and think properly Hell is at the bottom of the stairs and Heaven is at the top of the stairs. Proving that Light went to neither Heaven Or Hell.

Problems with theory: How can Light guarantee the safety of the death note between cycles? Even if he reincarnates, he still has to grow up to a point where he can go get the death note. That can take years and someone could easily stumble upon it or destroy it unwittingly before then. What if it takes decades or centuries for him to be reborn?
How can he be sure he'll reincarnate near the death note? What if he hides one in Japan But he's reborn in the UK?
What if he doesn't survive childhood? He can't see his own time, so what if the body in has a short expiration date?
Not to mention, his death in the series. Light was sincerely and honestly broken when he got busted. If this was his plan he would have been gloating that they were just helping him.
As much as i think a new season would not be good. I would love an OVA as an "What if", or something...

In Death Note is a lot of times said that death is equal. That means Death Note users go to MU too. And there is posiblity that Shinigami ends the same.
There's a lot of flaws with this theory.
First and foremost, Relight isn't truly canon. To be more accurate, its a separate canon to the original anime and the changes aren't canon to the original manga. If you want to say its only like that in that canon, fine, but there's other points, that's just the most obvious.
Beyond canonicity, a shinigami nearly identical to the one you and the theory claim is Light appears in the background in the manga WHILE Light is alive. Unless you have some proof that it is a different shinigami or that the shinigami world is separate from the real world temporally as well (eg. The present in the shinigami world could connect to the past or future in the real world, so in theory a shinigami could kill their human self or something), then that shinigami isn't Light. Going with this, while there's a couple similarities and possible hints that the shinigami could be Light, there's nothing confirmed. The shinigami has an axe-like weapon that doesn't correspond to anything related to Light, it has goggles that have the same issue. The whole design looks more like a biker than Light, just a few shared design choices. Takeshi Obata, the artist for the manga, stated there was no common theme in design, not even a humanoid look, with it changing every time. The way Ryuk talks and mentions Light could just as easily be reminiscing as trying to confirm the shinigami is Light, especially if the shinigami did something that reminds him of Light, and I don't see any reason why Ryuk would even know that it would be Light. Even the shinigami running off without listening to the end of the story doesn't mean he's Light.
We don't know how shinigami are created. True, there must be some way since, though rare, they can die and have yet to die out, but there's nothing confirming how they repopulate. Not all have traits that would suggest they were ever human beyond their humanoid appearances, no obvious signs of "this is how they died as a human" or anything like that, so things like the seeming limp could just be to further make that shinigami reminiscent of Light without it actually being Light, since that is the point. What we do know is that when a human dies, they go to Mu, nothingness. While Ryuk states that the user of a Death Note cannot go to heaven or hell, it is then later stated that no human goes to heaven or hell. That does not mean that the user of a Death Note has a different outcome in death than a regular human. It was a trick, or more accurately a test of Light's determination. Telling hin that if he uses the Death Note, he can't go to heaven or hell, see if the thought of there being nothing for him after death makes him change his mind, despite that always being what happens when a human dies, Death Note used or otherwise. "All humans are equal in death", as Ryuk states in a flashback at the end. There is absolutely nothing to indicate a human that uses the Death Note will become a shinigami after death.
Continuing with the previous point, the statement of a shinigami's organs being rotted actually has Rem correct herself to evolved (the wiki says "all shinigami's ingestive system is either rotten or evolved" but finding it myself in the manga, she says their innards have "degenerated... no, evolved"), and it is suggested that they once needed to eat, but not anymore. This goes against the idea of it being because they were once human, suggesting they have grown and evolved separately.
As for BB's shinigami eyes and the idea of a shinigami being reborn as human with shinigami eyes, there's no evidence there either. While we don't know how it happens, if it was from the reincarnation of a shinigami, they likely would have mentioned it, or at least it having happened before, as shinigami deaths, while rare, aren't that rare. That whole theory is speculation.
The one thing I will say that gives any credit to this theory that otherwise has no real evidence as support is that a live action Japanese film series does state the Shinigami King enjoyed Kira's actions, meaning he could have a role in making such a plan possible. But with so much counter evidence against the theory, that doesn't mean much

If you want to look it up yourself, you can search the Shinigami Light theory or look up "Death Note: Relight unnamed shinigami" and you should find it
If you are asking about the one that looks similar that's shown while he's in school that I mentioned to help disprove the theory, that's a little tougher to find. It was an unnamed shinigami briefly seen in the anime and the manga. Only appearances I can find without going back through the whole series myself are Chapter 3 and episode 4, where he is briefly seen with other shinigami discussing what's going on with Ryuk. It isn't 100% identical but similar enough that it could be the same shinigami, maybe slightly touched up for Relight. If you want to look him up, the only way I could find him was as "unnamed shinigami 5" on the death note fandom wiki site
It's possible that the Relight creators wanted to make the reference for interest, but it wasn't written by the original author nor drawn by the original artist and has enough changes that it is considered a separate canon to the main series, despite being called a director's cut.

First off, Relight shows many things differently to the original version of the anime, thus making it a 3rd canon in this scenario, but there still isn't proof that new shinigami is Light. And from what I can find (I've yet to see Relight myself), the core stuff stays the same, so there's still arguments against the theory.
Moving on to bigger things, it is still stated that humans go to Mu, which is nothingness. Not a separate world, like heaven or hell, its just nothingness. And this is stated to be ALL humans. The whole point of the ending is that despite his claims of being a god, he is just a human, and all humans become nothing when dead. That doesn't change in the anime. All humans are equal in death, and Light isn't an exception despite what he insisted
Basically:
-Light dies
-becomes a shinigami
-dies as a shinigami
-becomes human
-dies
And it's on and on. It goes forever and ever. Unless he doesn't find a death note the second time he becomes a human.

The thing about BB and, well, the entirety of Another Note, is that Mello is a really unreliable narrator. Mello just had no way of knowing that Beyond Birthday had the Shinigami Eyes (as well as many other events in the series like Naomi's and B's exact interactions). It can very well be just something created by Mello. In fact, it's debatable whether Another Note is even canon at all. Mello, as a narrator, acts very very very out-of-character from his manga/anime self, almost every aspect of the story would have to be forged and/or induced, it's written by a completely separate author, and how the novel basically confirms that Mello had planned on dying when kidnapping Takada, when it's clear the manga was intending so that Mello's reasoning behind his final actions would be ambiguous to us; in fact, the closest hint we get to the novel being canon is the author simply having said he liked it.
About reincarnation, I just highly doubt that's even possible in the anime/manga. The only hints pointing towards Light reincarnating into a Shinigami are within the Relight films, a totally separate continuity from the anime and manga. The anime, and especially the manga, make it clear that there is no life after death for anyone at all. The place they go is Mu, nothingness; the phrasing of this rule doesn't imply that Mu is a place and that people legitimately _go_ there after death, but rather that, people go _nowhere;_ going to "nothingness" just means going nowhere. And there's no reason to believe Death Note users are excluded from "everyone", especially since Ryuk made it clear that death is equal for each and every person. People just... cannot become Shinigami in the first place.
On the subject of "punishment" for the Death Note users, that's not very likely. The series makes it clear that justice is simply a social construct determined by humans, with it being full of characters who have very different views on justice, and Near and Light (the ones whose ideals clash the most throughout the series) both holding this belief. There is no divine, absolute, objective justice, not in the world of _Death_ _Note._

So basically humans who don’t use the death note die and go to heaven or hell and people who use the note book like light get turned into shinigami and the reason there bodies are disfigured is because they relive all the deaths they wrote in the notebook and once they are shinigami they either live forever by taking lives or because attached to a human and Sacrifice there selves which is the only way I think they can truly move on but if there life span just runs out I think they get Reincarnated like how you said in the video
