Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.
Handled one of these at the local gun range chambered in .308, it's so much lighter than my Dad's. 223 Lithgow. I will be getting one of these in .243 soon, big fan of how it feels and how light it is
I live, hunt and handload in interior Alaska. I recently bought a stainless Tikka T3 lite in .270 Win to complement my 1976 Remington 700 in .270 Win. I was impressed with load development...in one afternoon I got a load shooting IMR4350 and Barnes 130gr TTSX with subMOA groups at 100 and 200 yards and low muzzle velocity variation (standard deviation 4.6 fps). I like that Optiloc system of Sako and Tikka where I mounted the Warnes rings directly to the receiver dovetail with the recoil lug built directly in the ring..that saved a bit a weight and cost (no rail needed). Cons: Because of the relatively inexpensive price (~$600 on sale), there is a lot of plastic in Tikkas....plastic stock that does not have an aluminum bedding block, plastic magazine, plastic trigger guard, plastic bolt release. Sure you can replace all of these with after market components, but that would cost as much as the original price of the rifle and I would go for a rifle like the Winchester Extreme SS for that amount of money. But if you want an light all-weather mountain rifle that is a tack driver with hand loads, the stainless Tikka T3x lite will do the job.
Yep, this is my choice. Lefty in good hands here absolutely stoked they make popular quality rifles for us cacks. Can’t wait. I will take mine in .223 also. Cheers mate. 👍🇦🇺
NIce review Ozzie, I had the same thought as Joseph, could you do a test vid on the Tikka T1X MTR please mate, I can't seem to find any and if it is as good as their centerfires, I may have to get one. ;-)
Yeah, I have no complaints about my Tikka either, it shoots lovely, and they aren’t a bad price, my .308 was around the $1200 mark, comfortable to shoot, accurate, pair it with a decent scope and Bob’s your uncle! 👍
awesome review. Thanks so much for doing it. I held one today for the first time ever. I’m definitely very keen on it now, it would be my first ever rifle, fingers crossed once I get my licence! 👍
Oh yes,...once you've fired a Tikka, you'll understand why they're tops. I have the T3 in 22-250 and it is a helluva shooter, so I can well imagine the 'Lite' would be a great rabbit or foxing rifle too. By the way Ozzie,..I have ordered a Lithgow LA101 in .22 rimfire, and I can hardly wait for it to arrive. Your review of this one, made me 'hungry' for one ever since you showed it here.
I absolutely love my Tikka T3 lite 223 ss. The larger ejection port has another benefit. If you want to run long oal reloads for easier single feed loading where as the standard T3, which ive got with the smaller ejection port makes it harder to single load in there with it being smaller.
That action is just poetry in motion. I learned to shoot on a club T3 lite 10 years ago in Service matches, but got lured by a No.4 Enfield for my first rifle. Many (many) milsurps and a decade later I'm having cervical disc issues so coming round full circle back to buying a new T3x in .223. Your review reminded me how the rifle does all the work for you; tantamount to its quality that I got to A grade within 18 mnths of being licensed. Also looking forward to a non-9lb rifle without a heavy military trigger, as much as I love all my oldies.
Bizarre. My Tikka T3 shoots OSA Game King like a laser beam from prone position with a bipod. Nonetheless thanks for putting me onto Buffalo River from a previous review - it's the best bang for buck (no pun intended!) ammo out there with great brass for reloading. Plus it's good to support Australasian ammo manufacturers. Please keep the reviews coming, Ozzie!
Ozzie, I have the T3 Lite, .223 with a Nightforce 2.5 - 10 x 32mm. Was on a Remington 7600 (yes that guy from SA). The .223 tikka is, awesome. .223 is nice and cheap to shoot. Loves OSA .223 55 grain Blitzking! Taken many a fox and Roo, the combo is great! Run it with Burris and vortex scopes as well, loves them all! Lastly, I know Mrs Ozzie might not like hearing this... just keep in mind Ozzie, that it’s not just the ladies who like the slow-mo :) now if you’ll all excuse me :)
I have always waned a Tikka and long debating with caliber 308,243,223. I will be finally be getting one in 223 with 1/8 twist. This will pair well with my SPR build and other ARs. I hope and think it will shot 68gr really well.
Why the reupload? Did the comments blow out? Great review & thanks for you time & effort. One thing I did notice at the end if the video showing the loading of the magazine, Tikka still use a long action for a short action calibre resulting in a longer cycling compared to other rifle manufacturers. Great rifle
Man I feel bad, at work we had a yellow bin full to the brim of Soft drinks as the fridge broke (they swell up when heated) should've sent them to you to be eradicated.
I don't know what to do as I'm torn between 2 rifles, I can get the Tikka T3X lite stainless for $2000 or the Tikka T3X CTR stainless for $3000 as a 6.5 Creedmoor. I put a deposit on the CTR but he wont order it in until after the Easter holidays so I got a few days if I change my mind. Left handed variants are expensive...
Hi Ozzie, first of all, just wanted to say big fan of your honest reviews. I have just purchased a T3X Lite S/S 223. Just wanted to know if you had to wait for the barrel to cool between magazines. I have heard that the T3X Lite Stainless the barrel can get hot quite quickly when bench rest shooting
I was looking at Winchester 70 until I learned it's a 1.5 MOA and that's just not acceptable with today's advancements in barrel making. I think I am leaning toward Tikka...Thanks for the info.
@@Marcusb338 I'm happy with hornady eldx Hunter factory ammo. I'd describe the recoil as violent. It has scoped everyone who has shot it so far lol. It kicks more than my 338 lap mag as it's so light. Still fun to shoot. Defo not a benchrest gun for the range though.
Ozzie, thanks for all the reviews on the Sako 85s in .308 and .223 as well as the T/C Compass in .308 and this new Tikka T3x Stainless Lite in .223. I gave up my Tikka T3 Lite in .270 Win with Steiner GS3 4-20X50 scope which was great at 200 yds. I am looking to get another .270 again and I think your videos cinch it for me....best to wait until I can get at least the Tikka T3x Stainless Lite in .270 with premium scope again... BTW do you follow footy? I have been an american Hawthorn Hawks fan for about 30 years. Thanks again!
Hi, I'm looking for a new rifle. After watching yours and many other vids, its gonna be a tikka t3 varmint. What I'm undecided on is the calibre, 223 or 243? It will mainly be used for foxes out to 300yds, what would your preferred calibre be?
I'm not a fan of dovetail grooves either, but did you have to use the Picatinny rail ? Your scope is mounted too high above your bore axis for my liking - you're not getting a good cheek weld - it looks more like a side of the mouth weld..........great review regardless.....
Yes it can still rust. If your are near saltwater. The stainless version is a pretty good idea. I still like blued barrels and wood on my guns. People always take their rifles out of their cases immediately when they get home after their done hunting (in the winter) and that puts condensation on the gun that will turn to rust. Example, if you fire off say 10 rounds with 5 to 10 seconds between them, then reload the mag, is that enough time for the barrel to cool? Or do they provide 4 shot mags precisely so you only shot 4 rounds to let it cool .. and thanks for the review ozziereviews
Ive got t3x in left had stainless .223 ... they get hot after about 6 quick shots which makes it shoot more than MOA but its accurate enough. Perfect for carrying and hiking around though

About the same mate. I just ordered the tikka t3x stainless 30-06.
Tikka or Lithgow, that's the question
Lithgow seem to be keeping it very quiet what the issue is.
Lithgow 223 has cracks around the chamber, info is available on the net. Only 223 is affected at this stage.

Too bad they have a cheap ass plastic magazine on such a nice rifle
That would be my biggest complaint with mine as they are short and cant fit very long oal reloads in them, besides that they work fine.
That's only if you buy the plastic stock version? They have to hit a price point for those who don't want to spend the money on a nice timber stock.
Polymer?
Only on the older rifles they have plastic, new ones use polymer.
Music?
do you not answer questions bloke
