Man, where was this a year ago when I was building out my home gym (which has consequently been sold to free up more shop space)?! Great work, man. Rogue plates are so slick. If those mats ever wear out, horse stall mats from Tractor Supply are perfect for lifting heavy.
hello everyone, the site's been updated with written step-by-step instructions for this project! www.homemade-modern.com/ep113-diy-fold-out-gym/
here are Heather's and Rod's instagrams if you want to seem them life heavy stuff:

Such a killer concept dude!
thanks brother!

Perhaps put this on Pinterest
I love the Idea, I like to see innovative ways to create space saving ideas. Great Job.
That's a lot of white paint! It is so satisfying to see it all painted the same color in high speed. That's a really nice setup you have built, and I love that it is so slim to the wall when in the "put away" position.
Floor below?? Poor neighbors. Nice setup though.
Just wait until you get up to the real heavy weight. You'll miss a snatch and drop the weight straight onto your hardwood floor and send it to your neighbors downstairs
Ben!!! I have been waiting for this video after seeing it on IG and hearing you talk about it on the podcast. Very cool design this is one of my favorite builds you have done bc it is such a small foot print that when opened is extremely versatile. Awesome work my friend. Hope the foot gets better.
Awesome job guys. Very helpful for home gym owners with limited space!
"For when i'm throwing heavy weights around" - You're the man.
As a lifter, you got to appreciate this design- Very cool!
Great project, super practical and elegant design as always! Love it!
Glad to hear you're recovering.
thank you!
This is an awesome build! I'm a powerlifter, and this is a great idea for a home gym.
EXCELLENT BUILD! QUICK, INFORMATIVE AND PRACTICAL!
Awesome build! I'm definitely going to set something like this up in my home!!! Thanks!!!
Such a fantastic idea, and skilled execution. Great job!
this is the most creative idea I've ever seen! so sick man!
Another great build Ben. I love how you use layering to build up stuff. I always feel like that's is a lot of cutting. But I will build something using this method. Perhaps one of your designs. Thanks
Awesome minimalist concept for home gym! I think I will use a modified version of this in my garage to free up much needed floor space.
Awesome set-up! great use of space!! Lover your guys' videos, keep it up!
What's the review from the people living below?
That's really neat! Love the idea of incorporating a plattform for lifting right into the structure.
Although personally I'm obsessed enough with lifting that I would just put everthing against a wall and call it 'decoration' 😎.
Have fun with your workouts!
Pretty cool to see a channel I follow getting interested in my line of work. Good luck with the workouts!
the one and only, HOOKGRIP!!!
/watch?v=fvzOqAlTcRA
I don't see no scared cat
Eric Cartman Fitness hookgrip isn't a CrossFit gym or even related to it. They are affiliated with Olympic Lifting...
Eric Cartman Fitness Why does no one realize that the snatch and clean and jerk are olympic weightlifting lifts? Seriously, how do people so mad at xfit know so little about lifting sports?
Whoa, same here, it's like worlds colliding lol
Love this idea. We recently moved into a much smaller apartment than what we are used to. I would love for you to do a DIY on a fold out dining room table!
Really ingenious set up. Great use of space!
Love the concept. I wonder if there is anyway you could incorporate a rack for you to squat with. Perhaps something that folds out and allows you to rack the bar with the plates on it.
Great video showing an awesome way to save room. If you ever find that the matting is too soft for the weights, check out the matting that is used in horse stables. It's much heavier and should easily take constant use.
This looks so awesome!!!!!
This came out awesome dude
Beautiful project! Well thought out!
I really needed this.
Great build. Waiting for the fold out weight bench now
Sick, man. You're a wizard.
Rodney has great form!!! ;) Well done , good job!
I got scared that you might leave the top angle brackets visible there... but i remembered that you like clean work! Cool idea and good job! :)
Awesome! I'd make one small addition: a couple of hooks to store the collars for the bar. You are going to use collars when lifting, right?
Nice setup! Very well done too.
really really cool, I wonder if anybody would try one like this or something similar, keep it up!
Nice build! Definitely gonna try to build it one day
I'd like to know how to build a hidden workout setup in my bathroom. Thanks in advance.
Jeesh amazing, wish I had these skills!
Awesome stuff Ben, love to get me some of those rouge plates.
So beautiful! 👍🏼
Super awesome!!! You got yourself a mini gym. There's are countless exercises you can do with that equipment you have. Just need to add some safety bars to do some bench press and squats and you'll all set. No gym needed.
Wow that is some great work.
That was awesome!!!
Awesome, great job!
amazing as usual
Outstanding!
You are brilliant!
Impressive and clean
Looks good, im also looking to build a DIY gym, but in my garden and something made out of steel pipes, that could be modular to fit my purpose
Fantastic idea
Great Job
May i know more detail of the pull up bar? which type of heavy duty shelf bracket should i get, wanna make myself one. thanks mate
Very well done homemade modern...!!!
Top notch work as always. Keep it up. :D
Wow awesome!!
Excellent job.
Nice job Ben. Very creative use of space. I like the clean look, but I also was wondering if the outside of the drawbridge could be used for some other apparatuses. Remember the wall in the movie "Vision Quest?"
Es excelente .todas las creaciones me parecen una maravilla
A super project.
You could easily add some peg slots and place in some moveable racks. Set one up for squats and some flat , incline, and decline bench. Then you have a more rounded gym in the same space
I saw 2 Studs and 2 Studettes that didnt get mentioned !
Kewl Build Ben :-)
they are shy :)
COOL !!I love the Idea
cool set up!
I really like this design... I think I like the hidden chin-up bar best. Nicely done. 🤓👍
Great project as usual and I just learned a cordless router was a thing, will definitely have to check it out!
I'm curious about the brackets though; aren't they installed upside down from their original intended use? Wouldn't this affect their weight capacity?
Awesome build! I typically see CrossFit gyms using thick rubber mats as opposed to foam. This might be better for wear and tear, but great job!
just crazy stuff😲 wow
This is awesome
Well done!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Of course Rodney was pretty easy on the eyes too 😉 Made it a bit more exciting to see such calves every now and then in your Vid! Nice idea for home w/o, with a training buddy like Rodney of course wayyyyy easier i guess? Greetings from Bavaria, glad i still got the mountains to work on my calves 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Dude sweet!
The retractable pull up bar from conduit it clever
Damn thats super clean looking. my home gym is full of raw pine, lags and brackets. now I want to rip it all out and at least paint it hahaha
Love the idea! I have no equipment to take on this project. But I would love to have such a thing at home. I might show this to a pro carpenter to make this for me at home. Or wait and save for the equipment and start carpentering. Though I know it is not easy I would like to start this as a new hobby.
dreadlord128 You could make this project with just a cheap circular saw and drill. Literally the cheapest you can find at the store, should be plenty.
It'll cost 3-4X as much to have a pro do it for you
That's so cool
Lovin the podcast.
Very nice!
Now you just need a RYOBI Ladder.
So damn good.
Excellent solution to a common problem, lack of space for equipment. I'm a little confused though - where do you keep the tractor tire?
Soooo much work. It doesn't look cheap. Idk if this could be better designed considering that is basically something to don't break the floor with drops and a place to hang the weights, but good job.
That is really nice. Great work and it's nice and clean. Only issue I see is the white part where you stand will get dirty fast.
That was a great video. Appreciate the upload. As a Canuck, I refuse to give up lbs for kg's.
Amazing design, got a feeling those hinges holding the drawbridge won't last long with all that impact vibrations from loaded barbells.
This is very cool. You mentioned you live above people. Have they complained about noise from dropping weights? Do you drop from overhead? after a snatch or clean and jerk?
Excellent work ! Really enjoyed watching this video!
Genius 👏👏👏
Yea that’s pretty dope. I like those expensive Purdy weights too. Rogue are they soft edged ? So you don’t smash those nice wood floors ?
You sir are god damn genius. I'm building this.
"limited space"
this is cool. could be helpful in a small apartment like mine
Hey man, cool project. I have a question - Is that Ryobi palm router worth it? I have a bunch of their tools and need a trim router but I'm worried that the battery location would seem intrusive.
Awesome vid
This...i like this
Good job 👍
Awesome concept, perfect for smaller living spaces. Be careful with the split jerks though, with a narrow platform like that, your back foot could easily come off the back side of the platform or land on the edge. The girl in the demo almost went off the back and guys typically have a wider stance.
Awesome
Aloha! Mahalo Kumu Craftsman🌺🙌🏼I love this project so much. Been pondering how to do something similar. Observing you're ascended sense of design & craftsmen ship I will recommend the greatest, leanest, sultan of squat stands if you'd like
Great project. I would of used stall mats instead of the foam mats. In my experience the foam mats aren't as durable and the stall mats look better aesthetically to me.
