Very grateful for this video. I will start building the project today. Can you please recommend two or three different band companies to begin purchasing some bands. Don't anticipate that going to pull more than $100 Thank you
Please, could you do a video using the triangular quick links? The quick links used in this video is a struggle to use with loop bands as opposed to tube bands. Thank you.
Love it! Very practical.... but it's clearly fake. 😉 I've made several woodworking clamps from various lengths of pipe and there is no way you could have peeled the UPC sticker off cleanly in just a couple of tries. 😜 I will probably try to make one of the bars. I prefer tube bands and carbiners to the flat band style that is sold with the X3, but like you depict here with your U-bolts, I have to double the tube bands through my wall mounting rings to get them short enough to work with. Have you found the tube bands to break from the stress against the U bolts? I'm pretty new to all of this and wonder about longevity of bands against metal rings. Thanks for this solid looking idea. The pro bars are expensive and the cheap stuff on Amazon looks like it will snap, unlike this industrial strength build.
Haha. I'm always surprised when they come off cleanly. I've had no issues with durability as of yet. The biggest complaint I've had is that it takes a lot of bands to build up a high amount of resistance, but that's not isolated to just this build. The main way you'd see durability issues is if you kept tension on the bands when not in use, but most people don't do that with bands.
Thanks for posting , I'm going to build this setup. Could you tell me about your dog? I had a Czech white German shepherd that looked like your dog, he was the best.
Of course. Ixion is a Shusky, half husky and half german shepherd. His mother as an all white husky and his father was an all white german shepherd. He's a loving and happy pup and he just turned 4 this year in May.
@@JoeMartinMVC thank you, after 27 years of running sled dogs I am dog less, leaving a big hole in my heart.. my big German shepherd has been gone two years. Enjoy your best friend there that's one beautiful pup ! Thanks again.
My bad, it's unlike me to not put that kind of thing in the description. I've updated it, thank you for bringing it to my attention. Hardware store items needed: 1 - 3/4" Steel pipe 24 to 36 inches long (Depending on preference) 2 - 3/4" - 1/2" reducers 2 - 1/2" - 1.5" steel nipples 1 - Roll of athletic tape 2 - 1/2" Steel Caps 2 - 1/2" Quick Links
That’s a genius solution to build, for the alternative of the X3 bar
Thanks! It works even better when bolted to the floor, but this version works well for those of us that can’t do that.
Incorporating an actual bench makes it better. The x3 bar is such a rip-off. I can't believe people are foolish enough to bu it.
Very good video, the retail price on some of these resistance band bars are utterly insane. Thanks mate keep up the good work!

Built something similar and works geat. The strap-bands made by Clench go up to higher weights and are quite reasonably priced.
Impressive, very nice. Will be trying this, as I am intrigued by the X3 bar but not rich enough to pay their price.
Their price is just exorbitant. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and it works well, but it takes some getting used to for sure.
Lets see Paul Allen’s diy X3 bar.

Nice job. Put some blue thread loc on the pipe threads so nothing backs off and gets loose. The blue is removable if you need to change any parts out.
Definitely a good suggestion. I haven't had any issues with anything loosening, but never hurts to be safe.
Very interesting! Exactly what I was looking for.
I'm glad I could help!
You can also get the wrap tape they use on baseball bats, Dicks has it . Great job with the bar, making one today
Thanks! The reason I didn't go with the athletic tape is because it leaves a nasty tape residue if you ever change it out.
@@JoeMartinMVC I ended up using electrical tape, works great just double it up.
@@MrFz1rider I'm glad it's worked out.
@joemartinmvc So what kind of tape did you use in the vid? I like that it's wide (3" perhaps). Most I see online aren't wide like that.

That's a good recommendation, I'll see if I can find some good and strong ones that would work out for this bar without slipping or causing issues.
Thank you
For more tention you could also just wrap the bans around the 2x4 base.
I had considered that, but didn't want to risk damaging the elastic bands.

Hi, I can't seem to find these rods anywhere. Got any pointers where I can find them online?
If you can’t find the piping at your local hardware stores, Amazon also sells them:
amzn.to/3wkxa6s
@@JoeMartinMVC Thanks for the link! I managed to find something similar in my country but it's a pack of 6. Too much for what I need atm
How long are the wood boards that the bench sits on, total length?
You’d want to build yours depending on your weight bench. But for mine the 2x6s were: 26.25 wide and 43 inches long.
Smart idea
I found that the oval type carabiner pinched the band too much, so I changed to the pear shaped version instead.
Some people also like to use the triangular ones.
Those Carabiners won't come loose?
They haven't yet, but even if they did it's unlikely the bands would slip out as the fit is rather tight.
Sweet dog😊
dog can't wait to sit on it
If he fits, he sits.
I got X3
You could have added a list of components used
My bad, it's unlike me to not put that kind of thing in the description. I've updated it, thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Why over-complicate things, why not just do push-ups? You can use the bands to add extra resistance if necessary.
