It's not bad at all. Not happy with the autofocus, but at least the deep dof mitigates that somewhat.

Interesting Video Rob. I’m a bit surprised by the FPS for slow motion , it looks great. A pity that the Pen E-PL 8 does not have this. You did a very good job describing the tg-5 and I’m looking forward to the tutorial.

Nice discussion about the TG5, I purchased one a few months ago and really like it. The microscope mode is really good. the worst aspect about the TG5 for me is ISO performance, but to be expected. Cant raise the ISO much above base before I do not like it, but overall a really good carry around.
I purchased both the flash and led light diffusers plus the TCON-T01 tele converter. The TCON-T01 gives a bit more reach.
Looking forward to your tutorial, and I have a couple of questions you may be able to cover that I have not worked out yet.
1) When I put the TCON on the TG5 I select it in the accessories, but cant work out what it does. If I zoom out wide with the TCON on the camera and selected all you see is a round image in the centre of the screen. I would have thought selecting the TCON in accessories would limit the zoom to see only what the camera does with it on.
2) When changing modes to say microscope how do you change the microscope type say from "microscope" to "Stacking" without going changeing the mode and going back into the microscope options?
One thing I have found handy for photo stacking is a very small flexible tripod about 100mm high that I just use to brace the camera and it makes stacking very easy.
Anyway looking forward to your tutorial to learn more about this nice little camera.
I don't have any of the accessories, so can't speak to those items. But I don't see what the settings for the various tc fd etc... are for other than to zoom the lens to a logical focal length for you. Maybe it plugs in exif data so you know which one you were using. As for the microscope, you just need to push the d-pad on the left and the different microscope modes should show up with having to switch back to scn mode.

Yes, it was in autofocus. It can manually focus in video. Many of the tutorials where I recorded the back of the em10 screen was manually focused with this camera!

The Olympus sp820 and sp100 superzooms are fun cameras.
I have an old fujifilm superzoom from about the same year. Nice little cameras. I should take it out and see how it compares to the tg5.
You should go for a Ricoh GRII or GRIII..... great pocket cameras. Of course there are for different purposes and markets
The GRIII is on my short list should I do more street. Just doesn't have a flip screen, so that's a bummer.

Guessing this camera uses folded optics like in a perriscope? This camera is meant to be good for microscopic photography like single snowflakes!

Yes, the autofocus is rough. I'm gonna keep working on it and see if I can get it to work a little more consistently.
No need to talk faster. If I'm in a hurry I play the video at 1.5x normal and then normal or slower when there are important details.

Just picked up the tg-5. What are your 1st impressions? Looking to get into photography and wanted an action camera other Han a GoPro
I really like it. Has many of the advanced features of the omd, but many things missing too. Seems like they could have left in shutter priority or manual mode. I'm finding some workarounds and tweaks that help. I don't like the grain pattern at high iso, but found turning sharpness down to -2 helps. I'm testing several combinations to get better jpgs and will share once I'm satisfied. Have the raw file is nice. I'll go into detail when I start doing a review and tutorial. Right now I'm still taking it out day to day and learning to shoot with it and all its limitations compared to the OMD.

I have no idea why I bought this camera. It works well enough, but I don't use it the way it was meant to be used. I just had a case of gas.
What polariser did you mount on and how?!?
I used a ring adapter: amzn.to/36MjS2A and generic polarizer to fit the adapter at 40.5mm.

I just look at the center of the lens just when you are in a group shot.

E-M10ii is 1920x1080 60fps and 640x480 120fps.

Not that impressed with this camera. Doesn’t seem to sharp.
I think it's fine for what it is - to be tough first, image quality second.
