To anyone looking at this i hope you have a great day...and all thats been worrying you fades away and ends up turning into something good after all and remember you are as beautiful as this cake💓💓💛
@bee to be- You are super sweet for these kind words!💓 I am currently undergoing cancer treatment and have had multiple issues with it. Its amazing how just a few kind words can make someone's day! Thank you! 😊
No. Shit. Ha! His delivery was HILARIOUS!!!! And ofcourse... you make something awesome. (Almost) everyone and their moms love it.but nooooo.... not your honey bunny.... 🙄
My husband made this. He is the baker in the family. It was amazing! He has been searching for a white cake recipe and I gave him this one. This will be the staple in our family. Great job, PreppyKitchen!!
I followed this recipe and made my small wedding cake, and it was amazingggg!! My husband was the biggest fan! Thank you for making these recipes so easy to follow!
Do you remember what quantity of milk you used? The video says 180ml, the recipe link says 240ml. That is a big difference!! I suppose I can use 180ml and if too dry add the rest.
I just made this cake with 9" pans. It's an absolute monster of a cake. It looks lile something from a movie. Also, it is every bit as delicious as advertised, and very robust. I frosted the living daylights out of mine and it held together like a champ. My only reccomendation is aimed squarely at my friends in the mountains. Make sure to watch it like a hawk in the oven, the baking times change at altitude, and to insulate yourself against dry over baked cake, double the sour cream in the recipe. For three 9" pans of cake, I used nearly a whole cup, and it came out perfect. Thanks for the recipe.
I love all your rose gold utensilssss please share where you buy them! Also love how you give all measurements it's super helpful! I 1000% appreciate it! Thanks John!
Thank you so much for this recipe, but the flour in grams is listed as 200g. This was the first time making it by weight (I’ve made it using the cups in the past) and it definitely wasn’t as thick as I remembered it. It wasn’t until I was making the frosting and the sugar was listed at 300g for 1 1/2C, that I realized I didn’t have near enough flour. It wasn’t a huge deal, as it was just a test taste for my niece’s wedding. I’m so glad I learned this now. I hope you see this and are able to fix it so others don’t do the same thing I did. I also tried your lemon curd with the yolk. I am ruined. I will never be able to have store bought again. AMAZING!
Oh my word!!!! I made your Swiss meringue buttercream today for a cake for Easter dinner. I put lemon zest in it because it was a lemon cake. It turned out FANTASTIC!!!! Thank You!!! BTW.. I used plant based butter and it still turned smooth and so yummy!!
This was the absolute best white cake I ever had only change I made was using vanilla extract and vanilla beans. Everyone loved it even those that say they don’t eat white cake
Thank you SO much for this recipe! I was digging around on Pinterest for hours trying to find a good white cake, but so many of them used boxed mixes or were pseudo angel food cakes. This was bomb (even if it didn't look half as good as yours)!
I love learning how to bake from you. "Mix for a minute, and by a minute I mean 30 seconds!" Thank you for your great instructions and the reasons for everything!!
I’m about to make this for my mum’s surprise 70th birthday party... I’ll be decorating it with a golden drip topping and sugar paste flowers. Thanks for the recipe and the great instructions! I feel really confident to try a new recipe on such a special occasion because I know you’ve already ironed out all the problems and explained it so well. My version will be gluten free though, simply by using gf flour instead. Thanks again for all your hard work, it’s very appreciated ❤️
I could swear that when I saw the fluffy cakes you could tell the difference they just looked soo perfectly lightly browned and delicious! Gotta try this recipe as White cake is the only cake my kids like with white icing!
This cake looks so YUMMY and beautiful! I love the different suggestions for flavorings, I usually stick with vanilla extract or almond extract but next time I go to the store I will be on the hunt for rose water! (I totally would have tried the rose water too lol) Thank you for all the amazing recipes, I love your channel!!
Hi there! I just finished making this cake, including the SMBC. It is WONDERFUL! I can’t wait to share This was a 2 layer 8 inch test cake. My my neighbors are going to love it...lol. I have tried a few white cake recipes and they were dry (my throat is dry right now just thinking about them...gag). My SMBC got loose because I let the butter get too soft but I threw the mixing bowl in the freezer for about 20 minutes and whipped it again! Thank you! 👏🏾👏🏾💜
I love your recipes.. went to your blog for recipe and even in your video.. quantities u mentioned isn’t correlating with what u said.. now I’m confused what to follow.. for say, on your blog it’s mentioned 1cup milk and in video u say 3/4cup milk and salt it’s 1tsp on your blog and here it’s 1/2tsp and u say 1tsp vinegar and on your blog it says 1tbsp vinegar.. kindly suggest:)
I LOVE white cake. I can't think of anything better than meringue buttercream on a white cake. Lemon or lime juice or anise extract also add flavor without adding color. So cute and cheerful. 🥰 Great recipe!
Does that frosting harden after a while? What do the egg whites do for you? I’m not much of a baker. Traditional butter cream seems overly cloying, do the egg whites help?
Made this today for my boyfriend's birthday and it was absolutely amazing! So moist and fluffy. Also added some sprinkles to the batter to make it funfetti. Love your recipes!
wow I think the UA-cam recommendation gods have blessed me with this one... I’ll definitely be trying this recipe out for my sisters birthday next week!!
I'm so obsessed with your videos, and recipes! Ur Amazing! Every recipe I've tried of yours turns out perfectly. Lots of great tips! Your energy is just infectious! Happy bday to your lil nuggets 🥰❤️ Thank you
John, you and your husband are so lucky to have each other. Thanks for the videos and your funny sense of humor its such a pleasure watching you, keep the videos coming. Thank you so much!!!! Liam:
Hey dude, just wanted to give you a pro tip: Instead of drawing the borders on your parchment paper you could take multiple parchment papers equivalent to the number of pans u are using, you can go ahead and stack them on each other then flip them once then again in a 45 degree angle and then again in 22.5 angle then get the tip of you parchment papers and put it in the center of ur pan and cut the parchment when they get just around the edges. Btwhappy birthday to your kids and sorry for my poor English
This is why I love watching you because you do things I do such as trying the rose water straight and coughing from the baking spray. Plus you keep it simple.
I’d love to see more recipes about what to do with egg yolks! I feel that I do so much with whites and I’m always clueless on what to do with yolks. Also happy birthday to your boys 🎁 🎂
I’m trying your French buttercream recipe today! I am saving the yolks for when I make macarons this weekend. I also bought six inch pans and a turn table - my lemon cakes are in the oven now!
*The link to this recipe does not match the recipe in the video. The recipe online said to use 1C milk and 1TBS vinegar, whereas the recipe in the video uses 3/4C of milk and 1tsp vinegar. Which should I follow?*
thanks so much for this recipe. I made in with ermine frosting. For the filling I used frosting mixed with a very small amount of chopped fresh strawberries. I honestly believe I made something bakery quality for the first time. Love your channel!
*Help!!! The recipe online is not the same as the measurements you are using here! Online, it calls for 1C of milk, but on this UA-cam video, you are using 3/4C milk. As well, online, it asks for 1 TABLESPOON of vinegar, but here you are asking for 1 TSP. Do I follow the UA-cam video or the recipe online? I just did the recipe online, and my batter almost looks curdled - same as the photos you posted online.*
I made this white cake recipe with a raspberry filling, lemon soak, and lemon buttercream for my friend’s wedding. She and her husband absolutely LOVED it!!
I'm getting very addicted to your videos. Thanks for the tip on the cake strips, that's going to be an absolute lifesaver for me! I'm terrible at levelling cakes XD
I can not even begin to thank you enough for the tip on cake strips. OMG! I used the aluminum foil trick you mentioned in your vid about how to get perfectly flat cake tops. I saved that vid. You are the only baker I've even come across that's brought this to light. Literally, every other baker (even the "Pros) take a pish-pish attitude about slicing off the top of a domed cake. But your method produced a PERFECT cake for me when I made my first cake. It was a Tiramisu cake that was without a doubt the best cake I've ever had and certainly the prettiest, thanks to you. I love your channel, your smile and your overall manner.
OMG the best White cake ever !!!!!!!! I made it to my husband Christmas Party and they absolutely LOVE IT. Also made it for a Church Memorial Services with the Swiss Meringue and it was to die for. Thank You so much for sharing your amazing recipes .
I love watching how you bake . Look so easy and effortless. Lol you are such a lovely person . I can feel and imagine how much you love your kids . ❤❤❤
You know what? I can’t even watch this video. If I keep on watching it, I’m gonna make it, and eat the whole thing by myself. Also, Happy Birthday to your little nuggets!
Not to be a nerd, but water boils at 100°C if the pressure is at 1 atm (aka normal conditions.) If we increase the pressure to 8 atm (at which point your organs would have long imploded,) the water boiling point would be around 170°C. Conversely, you could put water to a boil by lowering the pressure and lowering the temperature.
I was just looking for a recipe for a "bakery style white cake". Without asking, I went straight to your channel. When it doubt, I always go to your channel for any and everything. Reason being, everything I've made from your recipes are absolutely off the chart (goooood). I'm making this cake for my grandaughter who is 24 today. I would love to see pictures of your boys. They were 4 years old August 22nd of this year, if my memory serves me right! Don't know for sure because I'll turn 74 very soon! Anyhow, I hope you and your family are doing well,, staying away from exposure to Covid. I'll get back with you and let you know how my white cake turns out. Thanks again for all your amazing recipes. God Bless. Linda from Texas.
I made this, but followed your video. The written recipe is slightly different in measurements. I noticed this in another video for the carrot cake I made. It was delicious. Ty so much.
I made this the same day the video came out because my baby boy also turned 2 and I was looking for a recipe for his cake and he loved it! It tastes amazing 😍 Happy Happy Birthday to the twins!
I do remember what happened to that vanilla cake when you dropped them LOL!!! my baby is 16 and a jr in hSch. Enjoy the hugs while you can still get them :-)
I know your husband loves you, you are a master at these cakes! Blessings always! I just started my channel and will be trying some of your ideas, with a little spin of my own, of course. I will be shouting you out the world! You're great!
Johnny come lately…..I’m making this cake for my daughter for the 9th. Ordered my fat daddio’s pans. Bet it felt like yesterday that you made this video! Time flys when your enjoying life 🥳
Love the smell of roses. Not a fan of the taste. I will try this recipe but with vanilla bean scraped into the milk and heated until it scalds, and cools.
To anyone looking at this i hope you have a great day...and all thats been worrying you fades away and ends up turning into something good after all and remember you are as beautiful as this cake💓💓💛
And to you as well, thank you from all of us.

No. Shit. Ha! His delivery was HILARIOUS!!!!
And ofcourse... you make something awesome. (Almost) everyone and their moms love it.but nooooo.... not your honey bunny.... 🙄
There's nothing wrong with cream cheese frosting, just saying.
I'm sorry but I'm gonna with with your husband. Cream cheese frosting is a bit too much for me😂
A little too much info I like when they just stick to the tutorial of baking🙄
My husband made this. He is the baker in the family. It was amazing! He has been searching for a white cake recipe and I gave him this one. This will be the staple in our family. Great job, PreppyKitchen!!

@@CK8smallville have you tried it ?
How much milk did u use ??
I used 240mL milk in my cake for a valentine’s day cake and it came out great!!!! My fam enjoyed it, endless compliments!!
The milk curdled

Happy birthday to your kids 💙💙🎂🎂🎈🎈🎉🎉🎊🎊
Thank you so much!!!
I love how you include grams too. Life saver ❤️❤️

I thought I was losing my mind with the conversion! Yes @preppykitchen please correct this. ❤
It makes a difference on what you're weighing. For instance, by weight:
1 cup of flour is 120g
1 cup of sugar is 200g
Oh my word!!!! I made your Swiss meringue buttercream today for a cake for Easter dinner. I put lemon zest in it because it was a lemon cake. It turned out FANTASTIC!!!! Thank You!!! BTW.. I used plant based butter and it still turned smooth and so yummy!!

Yesss!!! I’m having this problem right now. I don’t know which measurements to go with ugggghhh why isn’t anyone else noticing this
I noticed this too. I personally go with the recipe he mentions in his videos (: good luck ❣️

This will be perfect for my cousin's 1st birthday party👍🍰
Hope you have fun making it!
Watching this to make a cake for my twins who are turning 3! I'm going to do two layers though, each layer colored to their favorite color.
This cake is LEGIT! I made it yesterday, and it was a dream! Thank you!
Happy Birthday to your 2-year twins. My boy just turned 20 and he's the baby of the bunch! So many wonderful years ahead of you, enjoy them.

You might need to start making French buttercream! It's a favorite and uses egg yolks.
I’m trying your French buttercream recipe today! I am saving the yolks for when I make macarons this weekend. I also bought six inch pans and a turn table - my lemon cakes are in the oven now!
He makes a wonderfully easy lemon curd which uses lots of lemon yolks. It is fantabulous!!! Just like all of his recipes!!!
*The link to this recipe does not match the recipe in the video. The recipe online said to use 1C milk and 1TBS vinegar, whereas the recipe in the video uses 3/4C of milk and 1tsp vinegar. Which should I follow?*

Every recipe of yours is the best! I love that you don't obsess about measuring all of your ingredients, that's how I cook and bake. 💙
Novice baker here, little to no equipment...looking to buy my first toy, what should it be? What can y’all not live without?
Just made this cake it came out Amazing!! My four year old nieces loved helping decorate.
“My husband! That’s who” THE DISDAIN IN YOUR VOICE I AM DECEASED 🤣
I just got jaw surgery and am on an all liquid diet for 6 weeks but the cake looked so good I had to watch it, even though it felt like torture!!

I'm SOOOOOO happy you enjoye it! If you have a spare moment please give the recipe a rating on the blog so I can help spread the word. 💖
Absolutely
Did you use 1 tablespoon of vinegar or 1 teaspoon of vinegar? John says 1 teaspoon in the video but in the written recipe he says 1 tablespoon.
I like your recipes, it is so nice you put all the ingredient measures also in grams 😊
I love watching how you bake . Look so easy and effortless. Lol you are such a lovely person . I can feel and imagine how much you love your kids . ❤❤❤
Your smile is infectious! Happy Birthday to your baby boys 💙💙
I tried this on my daughters birthday..... It was too good.... My kids loved it.... Thanks a lot
Happy birthday to your boys!!! Sending love and the best of birthday wishes!🎂🎉🎉🎉
His kitchen is BEAUTIFUL
You know what? I can’t even watch this video. If I keep on watching it, I’m gonna make it, and eat the whole thing by myself. Also, Happy Birthday to your little nuggets!
I made this cake today for my 3 year old daughter with pink icing as per her request. It's delicious.

hahahaha I also hate when your US cup measures are different to ours in Aus. for us 1 cup = 250g or ml
The way you waved your hands on the air when you added the rose water is such a mood!💖
Aren't you the sweetest guy ever? So kind and charming, love your personality 💙

Hey you are a wonderful cake maker
Thank you!
Hi John. One stick (1/4 cup) is roughly 114 grams. I don't know how 3 sticks equates to 171. Help? Is it 3/4 cup or more like 1/2 cup?
I do remember what happened to that vanilla cake when you dropped them LOL!!! my baby is 16 and a jr in hSch. Enjoy the hugs while you can still get them :-)
