I know how it feels to hit road block after road block on projects. You've kept a great attitude and persisted through them... that says a lot about your character. Hats off to you Mike!
Some years ago a friend went out on a limb and bought a neglected Maserati Merak in a "not running" condition. He persevered in trying to get the Peugeot-based V6 engine working. It ended up being a good-money-after-bad exercise. He fitted a Toyota 4-cyl DOHC engine with carburetors. I think it was a 2 litre unit. He reckoned that it was in keeping with Maserati's 4cyl tradition of the Typo 60/61 Birdcage. He fitted it in a north-south mid-engine arrangement with a different transaxle. It was an excellent solution. You have done a great job on the idea and the execution of a different and better Ferrari.
Amazing progress! I would rubber cap or somehow protect the AN lines just before the tunnel where they might abrade against the sharp edge of the (fuel tank i think) bracket with the die holes in it? Looks like a sharp metal edge. Maybe bend the metal over? something because vibration and time will eat the hose
So happy UA-cam finally recommended your channel (after over a decade of following other car channels, wtf). Love the format of your videos. Honda and Ferrari power combined! What?! Subscribed.
I’m waiting to see this car rolling down the road and sounding so very mean. You are doing a phenomenal job building this car. I am really glad I watched you chop up the fenders on this car. I watched that and been here ever since
Congrats on the startup! Love your work, and you are an advocate for 'believing in yourself', I have to deal with a couple of friends that aren't always supportive of my ideas but you have to deal with everyone on the internet. You're an inspiration, keep pushing and can't wait to see the Ferrari on track!
I remember when those Ferraris were new and driving a couple. Honestly, anything you do mechanically to this car is a big improvement over the original👍😀
I had an 86 Etta! Loved it. The only reason I sold it is because it was a four-door and I was young and wanted 2 door car. You have two of my favorite cars. The Ferrari 308 I think is one of the most beautiful body designs. And the BMW because it's boxy, cute, and will last forever if you take care of it.
It wouldn't be a build without some last minute roadblocks! Every project has roadblocks, but it's the ones at the end that can be demoralizing. Keep pushing through! Also, M E R C H! Can't wait to snag some when it drops.
drove a 1986 325e 5-speed, sunroof, for 25 years and 250k miles. still passed inspection when i traded it in. Those are great cars, they drive good, i got 30 miles to the gallon commuting, and dead reliable. replaced one clutch, one radiator, and maybe 3 or 4 alternators. still had original shocks and struts. i would still own it but i just don't have room for 5 cars in my 3 car garage.
Just found your channel and so excited to see this build! I've always loved the look of the 308 when I was growing up but then was disappointed when I learned that it wasn't even that quick when I was older. Gonna be nice to see one with some real get up and go!
Great work!! I would suggest running a purge when welding on tanks where there’s not a sealed surface on the backside. It’s simple to do and will ensure your welds are 100% clean on the backside.
Haven’t commented in a while but loving all the progress on all the different projects. Really cool that you’re doing a tribute build for Cory, I loved following that guy’s builds over the years. I imagine you’re probably hunting down a set of Euro bumpers for that car, but if not, I’d be happy to donate a set of my High Dive bumper facelift kits for the diving boards 👍🏻
I would surely recommend a thermal intake manifold gasket from Hondata or Speed Factory. Helps with heat soak from the head to the intake manifold. I cannot wait to see this thing move! Best Ferrari ever! 💯
For the push lock hose you can dress it up with some expandable braided sleeving to make it mimic the rest of the lines. Should be easy to find higher temp ratings as well since its commonly used in automotive applications. I know the hose wont be seen but its one of those things that you'll know its there.
Just wait until I patent bluetooth water hoses.... The possibilities will be endless! Also very cool idea for the tribute car. I can tell the guy meant a lot to you, can't wait to see how that turns out!
Hey Mike...your TiG welds *are* looking better. Practice makes perfect, mate ;) On a lighter note...do you remember a few months back that video you made when things were at their darkest and you had lost momentum? We all rallied round you in the comments section and now here you are with sunlight on your face and the fire in the belly is back. Social media at its finest...
you should look into using oetiker clamps on that rubber coolant hose, they are crimped on and super secure. they give a much nicer oem look over hose clamps too
When we were running late models, all the excited newbies would spend tons of money for fancy paint and AN fittings. However, in short track racing, fancy paint jobs and other expensive stuff usually lasts only a few laps. Good old radiator hoses and hose clamps allow you to make fast repairs on the spot while the guys with the AN fittings end up on the trailer. A potential issue with your lines running front to back is air in the system. If those hoses don't lay level and have a slight hump, you will have an air bubble that you can't get rid of.
Luckily, most of us have move beyond the Flat Earth Society and know how to tilt the car or the system to bleed if necessary. Not sure that will be required on a pump-pressurized system, but BTDT on juice brakes and clutches. Better to have a bleed, but not impossible without it, either.
I can't wait to see that skid plate installed. I'm positive it's going to be the flattest car on the track. For that I'm sure you need the wheels and suspension dialed in. Sounds good looks better than factory even in multiple colors
I'm curious what number project the Ferrari is for you. You've shown us a handful of projects and touched on a couple more. But the work you do clearly shows a history.
Love your progress on the Ferrari However just seeing that BMW E30 triggered my PTSD from loosing mine in 2017. I worked for 2 years on a 1988 325is and I never got to even finish installing all the upgrades I bought. I had it on the road only a couple weeks before a moron ran a red light causing an accident. My E30 was totally fixable but the insurance company screwed me. They claim to have written it off, but I have reason to think otherwise. That's to long a story to get into. I loved that car. I grew up riding in it as a kid years before I owned it myself.
When all those fittings, don't fit the way you meant them to be. You might throw a fit after that. 😅 Your build is yours so you do what you like, all I can say is it looks great. That E30 also looks pretty good. Nothing better than a 30+ car with no rust.
On your welding table with the holes, why not turn out a few pegs that fit snugly in the holes. They could be handy when you want to keep an awkward piece steady while you are welding it.
I feel your pain with the AN fittings. I did all the oil cooler lines on Tony's 914-6 with AN lines and BRUH are they a bear at times. (Twin oil coolers to the front of the car with the oil tank in the rear is a looooot of lines and fittings hah!)
Wonderful progress! You are way too hard on yourself in terms of your weld quality: embrace it man, lean into it and just do it! The welds may not be as artful or as pretty as others could do, but they’re your welds! Personally, the satisfaction of having done it myself would supersede how pretty the welds look👍.
Awesome work on those aluminum welds! They look awesome and I'd be more than happy to show off those aluminum TIG skillz :) As for the E30 the 'eta' cars get a lot of hate but I personally like them much better than the 'i' . I've had 4 E30's in period (first one back in 95) both eta and 'is' models. My previous 1987 Bronzit Beige 325e is still one of the best cars I ever owned and there are lots of great memories from my E30 days. Great buy on the white one and the story behind it makes it even better.
Hey Mike great video as always. Have you ever considered using some kind of motorized lazy Susan to weld circular things like your AN fittings? Seems like a good way to keep a single continuous bead.
The build is really coming along, and things are looking good! One thought on the coolant block off plate on the head... might have been a good idea to drill and tap the plate for a fitting to bleed the system there? Wondering if it's possible it could get an air pocket stuck there in the head since it's not circulating coolant now? Anyway, keep up the good work! This is a very interesting build.
Hell yeah Mike. That eta is gonna be sweet as hell, I’ve been on the hunt for a zinno one to replace my early model e30 that someone destroyed out here in the Vegas public roads. But with prices the way they are I may have to buy a less clean example, which makes me sad and unmotivated hahaha. Can’t wait to see what’s next and what you do with the eta!!!
I notice the routing of the braided lines under the car are going by some sharp edges. I hope you are making some protection for the hoses to prevent rubbing a hole. Also hoses rubbing against each other. Looking good though.
"This is not another project, I mean it is", one of the lines that all of us use to anyone who asks why we got another car, or how many cars do you have...😬😅🤣
Another possible solution for you coolant hose problem would be to change one of your 90’s to straight. Put the 90 on the lower male part. That should be easy to install and still use braided.
I m impressed, really great build project. Just a comment, I ve seen no bleeding valves on the hoses just mounted. I m used to have several ones in my normal car. Could you tell us why? Thank you
This is 100% my favorite build on UA-cam right now. Cannot wait for first drive.
This and Rob Dahm’s four rotors are my main reason to watch UA-cam
Totally Agree!
@@galou haha couldn't agree more
This and Chris Forsberg building a new Z drift car.
I know how it feels to hit road block after road block on projects. You've kept a great attitude and persisted through them... that says a lot about your character. Hats off to you Mike!
kinda feel like everyone who builds know this atleast in some fashion
This channel is going to pop. The edits are really good. Feels like a Fantomworks TV show but with one project at a time.
Killer work Mike! AN lines are a real treat to work with in tight spaces!
The Hondararri is looking good! Keep up the good work! Real friends honor those who have gone before us. That shows integrity and love. Spot on.

I love seeing those little ad hoc jigs/fixtures when welding.
He used the correct term "Heat exchanger" @SuperfastMatt will be proud!
I need to go back and watch this series from the beginning, it's so nice seeing a build done properly
So happy UA-cam finally recommended your channel (after over a decade of following other car channels, wtf). Love the format of your videos. Honda and Ferrari power combined! What?! Subscribed.

You are doing a phenomenal job building this car.
I am really glad I watched you chop up the fenders on this car. I watched that and been here ever since
The aluminium ancillaries around the Honda engine that you have lovingly created look superb buddy. 👏
an endless stream of endlessly cool kit going into this rig.
Congrats on the startup! Getting closer and closer to seeing this thing drive. Keep up the great work Mike

Really love where this channel is goin. Shirts, tribute car and all.
It's really awesome how detailed you are when you're explaining the process. Thank you
Looking forward to the story and e30 content, as well as getting the coolant filled 🤙

I normally dont get into mixing euro rides and my beloved jdm rides...but this project is definetely impressive and I like your style...
The wire/spring fixture you made and used while welding the intercooler fitting was great.
I always get some great ideas from this chnnel -thanks.
Love this build! Can't wait to see you drive this beast! This gives me so much inspiration to finish my own project. Thank you!
Came here after the HPA podcast what a wild build can't wait to see this driving
Such a cool build. Just discovered your channel, time to binge!
The panning timelapses are so freaking dreamy. Great to see you back to business as usual after the first start!
Just found your channel and so excited to see this build! I've always loved the look of the 308 when I was growing up but then was disappointed when I learned that it wasn't even that quick when I was older. Gonna be nice to see one with some real get up and go!

YESSSS Bring on the E30 Content! I have a white late model 91 I've been fixing up to era correct "mostly" stock but tastefully modified.
Haven’t commented in a while but loving all the progress on all the different projects. Really cool that you’re doing a tribute build for Cory, I loved following that guy’s builds over the years. Wow Mike, keep going, I'm so fascinating with the Ferrari....My third car in my youth was a BMW 320, 1980, unbelievable handling !!!
Oh dang, would love E30 content, also the Ferrari is as sick as ever coming together fast man.
Appreciating the slide at 5:20.
I would surely recommend a thermal intake manifold gasket from Hondata or Speed Factory. Helps with heat soak from the head to the intake manifold. I cannot wait to see this thing move! Best Ferrari ever! 💯

Techflex is what I've been calling it for wiring, and you just finish the ends with a bit of glue heatshrink (raychem heatshrink)
Good friends are never a distraction. Especially when an E30 is involved.
Love the content. I can’t wait to see how you build a tribute to your friend. That is a really cool way to celebrate your friend.
Good stuff Mike! My first BMW was an '85 325e (gold BBS wheels) so I'm looking forward to seeing the work on your new purchase.
E30 coupe, drool… perfect build
The Ferrari being this close makes me real happy + merch ;)
Love the e30! My first e30 was an alpine white 325es that my dad purchased new.
Very honest welding 👏
Just wait until I patent bluetooth water hoses.... The possibilities will be endless! Also very cool idea for the tribute car. I can tell the guy meant a lot to you, can't wait to see how that turns out!
Looking forward to the e30 and your friends story. Yay more content!
Function over pretty for the hose especially when not really seen sweet ride nice job keep on fabing
8:24 Hand Tool Rescue!
Sometimes the simple solution is the right solution. Good choice on the coolant line. Remember KISS always.
Congratulations on the build!
top welding mate
and yes your welding is getting bloody good mate
Hey Mike...your TiG welds *are* looking better. Practice makes perfect, mate ;)

Love that BMW! An uncle of mine had one great memories, looking forward for this too 💪🏼
you should look into using oetiker clamps on that rubber coolant hose, they are crimped on and super secure. they give a much nicer oem look over hose clamps too
Love the E30 and the idea behind it.
I get excited every time you post something about this build thanks for the content love it man!
Shirts….finally, that’s awesome Mike ✌🏽
lol wtf. I wasn't expecting the little pointing hand on a carbon fiber stick lol. Funny and helpful!
New to the channel and absolutely love it

I love it too also my fav as well!
101% i will be late for dinner! need to see all episodes when released.
This is THE update I wait for!
I can’t wait to see this finished
The welding wire jig was genius
AWESOME build, I love it !!!!
Wasnt a big fan of how it sounds but im a big fan of the work put in.
I'm curious what number project the Ferrari is for you. You've shown us a handful of projects and touched on a couple more. But the work you do clearly shows a history.
Mike, you've been doing a great job with this videos, man! So stoked to see the progress of everything. Keep it up, man!
That intro was badass.
Love your progress on the Ferrari

Like you said in one of the early videos man wheels make or break a car so if uts gonna give you the look you want I guess it's worth waiting for

Hey Mike great video as always. Have you ever considered using some kind of motorized lazy Susan to weld circular things like your AN fittings? Seems like a good way to keep a single continuous bead.
Your awesome Mike!!
Not sure where you are on wheels, but check Sparc Industries, Tyler TX has been cutting aluminum wheels and steering wheels during all this shortage.
The build is really coming along, and things are looking good! The hole there is directly connected to the outlet of the engine right around the corner from it. It should be no problem at all.
@@stanceworks Bit late I know, but did you add an air bleed to the intercooler end tank or somehow get it filled without one?
Love those shape BMW’s 😍
Those welds look good. You'll get better, but those are more than presentable.
Wow that car is sexy!!! Amazing amazing build brother!! Can not wait top see it on the road.

Nice ETA Mike! Stroker build coming soon?
its coming together nicely Mike, the e30 looks nice (what are your plans for it?
Nice stack of dimes on that aluminum intercooler 👌
"This is not another project, I mean it is", one of the lines that all of us use to anyone who asks why we got another car, or how many cars do you have...😬😅🤣

Honor your friend. Awesome.
I m impressed, really great build project.
Just a comment, I ve seen no bleeding valves on the hoses just mounted.
I m used to have several ones in my normal car. Could you tell us why? Thank you
Can you do some facts or things to know about the E30? Rust spots, weak parts to know about, etc? Tempted to pick one up
