That's right Otis, you can't leave off , 'My Girl.' Are you nuts? That's an all-time classic.
All of those early Temptations songs.. have turned into classics especially with Paul Williams on lead vocals
Paul underrated
@@thechroniccinephile4824 Paul Williams was the original lead singer of the Temptations. However, Paul was hardly underrated. Motown politics, as far as writers, and producers were concerned, kept Paul relegated to singing background with occaaional solos. The reason was because producers like Norman Whitfield werr more interrsted in writing songs for David Ruffin, and Eddie Kendricks. Paul was not underrated so much as he was underappreciated by the Motown hit machine. Paul Williams was the heart and soul of the Temptations. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
@@thechroniccinephile4824 Very Outstanding VOICE...Paul Williams ❤❤❤
Paul Williams song I want a love I can see priceless
👍 listen to Slow down heart, and Don't look back.. classic songs by the Temptations with Paul Williams on lead vocals
That’s my favorite
Otis looked like he really enjoyed that interview!
Always good to see Otis speaking so eloquently about the great temptations.
@Linda Hines Yes he does ! I always thought Otis was a godd looking man.
He was the glue that kept the peace in the group David was a handful and Paul was his favorite so was the rest
Dennis Edwards, OLLIE WOODSON, G.C. Cameron & David Ruffin are my favorite lead singers for the Temptations.
15:08-15:22 You can tell Otis was tickled by the interviewer's compliment to his songwriting skills.
That white kid was like "damn this is a living legend"
THAT'S why U.K. Australia and New Zealand appreciates veteran American music artist and Groups. It's a shame in the USA just push aside our veteran music artists.
It's always great when you have a legend such as Mr. Otis Williams sharing and reflecting on his journey as a leader from one of the biggest and most talented singing groups in the world, but I must say that background in this interview is rather depressing. Kudos to Mr. Williams for being such a standup guy through the good and the bad through the years.
Thank you for the music
Whew, man I'm glad Otis told the truth about these so-called 'artists' these days!👍
Ain't that the truth 😊
Im a ole school girl..Love him and his group..Miss all of them..Thank you. For this podcast.

Been Temptations fan since I was in grade school- loved them then AND now..so wish they'd come to Fort Myers FL but never do. Otis Williams doing a great interviene here.
Great Interview Dr. Wms.
Romantic, Respectful Songs.
Thank you for maintaining YOUR standards❤
The original 5 were the best. Dennis Edwards kept that going. But Ruffin made the early songs HIS VOICE.
Such a humble and gracious man. Love the temptations so much! Great interview.
I love this. LOVE this. Just saw him perform 2 weeks ago. Such a great show. He is Great and so smart.
Wow, this interview was done on my birthday!

Those disco days of my time.
Otis is a legend!
I always think it is best to hold our opinion until we do our research. Otis is singing lead here on youtube. I listen then formed my opinion. Otis is a GOOD singer !
That's a BADD-ASS suit he's wearing!
I'm surprised he has such food tast in clothes he still looks good for his age
of course he never has done any hard
labor work not that I've known of all of em had a dam good life💯
Heavenly is my absolute favorite
david ruffin was way above the rest.......eddie and paul were great but david was the man
Are they sitting on kitchen chairs?
No, Otis.
It was David, Eddie and Paul who had to interpret Smokey’s songs.
You and Melvin just had to Doo Wop in the background.
Nope, you're wrong, when the Temptations weren't creating their own background vocals, they had to interpret how Smokey wanted the background to be arranged and sang. Amazing how you want to correct someone who's living what you will never get the chance to fathom.
@@jamesalford3734 Otis, “ David, when you get to the line ‘I don't need no money, fortune, or fame’; when you reach the lyric ‘need’, you should….”
David, “Thanks for that Otis. I would never have thought of doing that myself. You can interpret a song in a way I have difficulty doing. What would the three of us do and where would we be without you and Melvin?”.
PS: I am sure you are aware that Paul created and choreographed the dance routines; while Eddie designed the costumes.
@@felontrump5910 I don't even know what point you're trying to make.
@@jamesalford3734 The point I am making is:
• It was David, Eddie and Paul who interpreted Smokey’s songs.
The Temptations released 109 singles. Neither Otis nor Melvin sang solo lead on any of these releases.
Otis and Melvin were just backing singers .
@@felontrump5910 of those 109 releases, Melvin and Otis didn't sing lead, you say? So I guess it is saying Psychedelic Shack all by himself. Maybe I'm confused, but I could have sworn I can hear Otis lead on Run Away Child Running Wild. Two things you sound like, one being that you think that a background vocalist is insignificant in comparison to a lead vocalist, and two, you actually believe that it is only a lead vocalist who interprets a lyric, which would indicate to me, in spite to your response, that you have no experience in music singing, writing nor production. While you're saying that Melvin and Otis are mere "background" singers, they were the founding members and both remained/ remain members until the day they died/die. Not bad for just being "background" singers.
