Whitaker Cayton I am surprised they didn’t make more mention of his voice in the movie. His voice is amazingly deep, so seems to me that phenomenon should have been mentioned at least once in a biographical movie.
Melvin was an aquaintence friend of ours and he was everything you gather from watching him here and more. He loved his wife and family so. God bless his Soul with eternal Positive Energies. ❤
joe jones yes otis is the only original surviving member of the temptations and I think he is still in the group as well in today’s line up of the group
I encounter Dennis Edwards . I didn’t recognize him at first. I was at a restaurant. His song came inside the restaurant. I was just singing and dancing. Dennis was just trying not to laugh at me but he couldn’t help himself. Of course I got upset. That’s when someone told me who he was. One thing I noticed about him. He seems pleased that I was singing to his song. I thought he was laughing at me but he was happy that I was singing to his song.
The 19 year old kid was adorable. I bet he was so happy to be apart of that group. I liked Richard Street as well. This was before my time but I've always been so fascinated by all of them.
These are my three favorites as well. In my opinion, Paul should have been group leader. Eddie should have been allowed to do a solo album while still with the group. And David should have been given high quality counseling provided by Motown. When people have drug or alcohol problems, you have to treat the root problems long term. They can't just stop the behavior because someone demands that they do.
Thanks to the late Mr Melvin Franklin for your truthfulness, good success, positivity and for being a mainstay with The Temptations. You and your family are blessed by the Creator and Giver of Life, the late Mr Melvin Franklin had his own style!
When Eddie Kendricks was being interviewed by Martha Reeves, Eddied said, “The Temptations were formed when Otis Williams & the Distants ( Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin and Elbridge Bryant) became the backing singers for The Primes ( Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams)”. Eddie sang lead and designed the group’s outfits. Paul sang lead and devised the group’s dance routines. Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin and Elbridge Bryant provided backing vocals.
Why i always thought Otis, whom is still alive at 77, was sooo jealous of Dennis Edwards.... i read they had beef later on but it ABSOLUTELY amazing how you can tell a lot through looks n body language. Dennis Edwards had a presence, call it arrogance or confidence, that some men just don't have.. sorry! I hope Dennis Edwards had real love and loved right in his life especially towards the end... I hope they do a lifetime story on his life or a Netflix movie Masterpiece of Love, the Dennis Edwards story!
He took my favorite singer place. He was so confident in his approach of being the numero factor in my favorite group. I just never could come up with a reason to dislike Dennis Edwards. Teriffic person. If he wasnt confident in his task of becoming a Temps after replacing a legend like Ruffin we would have eaten him alive. He made us come over as if to say if you dont you are going to miss something. Discovered I could still be a Ruffin and Edwards fan.God bless them both.

No matter the line up, The Mighty Temptations always delivered great music and performances. Melvin's voice is more deeper just talking. Wow. RIP Melvin, Richard, and Dennis. You men left this world a great legacy of our music.
Melvin Franklin's "power-pow-power" part is quite hypnotic; it would be hard to maintain that part for 6 minutes on "Power", there's not a lot of space to take breaths.
I’m sorry, but when Eddie Kendricks left, it was never the same. Way too much drama with this group. I’ll stick with their golden years right up to early Dennis Edwards. ‘64-‘71 they were unstoppable.
Ollie Woodson in the 80’s And 90’s Theo peoples in the 90’s And you cannot say that Ron Tyson who has been with the Temptations since the 80s early 80s to this day did not do any justice if you do then you don’t know the temptations.

Melvin at the end of the vid: *Genuinely happy that what he said made everyone laugh*
It's so funny that some people don't recognize when they're in the presence of greatness, especially Dennis Edwards who was not mentioned. So stupid! The Temptations were Fantastic!
Melvin's voice is insane! What can I say, they are Legendary!
Him and barry white voice sounds like what gods voice would sound like
Does he have an accent ?
Damn his voice was deep. Way deeper than the guy who played him in the temptations movie
Whitaker Cayton Bass singers go way deeper than baritones. Melvin voice is amazing.
Look up JD Sumner XD
Whitaker cayton i was just thinking the samething 🤣🤦🙌👏💯✌
@Chris Warren I'd look at people like Geoffery Holder to see
Whitaker Cayton I am surprised they didn’t make more mention of his voice in the movie. His voice is amazingly deep, so seems to me that phenomenon should have been mentioned at least once in a biographical movie.
What a natural deep voice Melvin had
I have an abnormally deep voice too, as can be heard in my videos. Unfortunately, it's not a smooth one and I'll never be much of a singer.
@Allen Wilson That's scary

Melvin... beautiful voice, beautiful man. God bless his soul
Every time Dick Clark ever interviewed the Temptations, he did a melodramatic reaction to Melvin's deep voice!
Literally lol like sir we get it lol
I LOVE Melvin's personality.
I just love Melvin his smile was everything I love the temptations ♥️
Hi there.. how are you doing? Hope you are fine and staying safe??
I use to try to sound like Melvin when I was a child. I ended up with an eddie Kendricks sounding voice..lol
yes eddie kendricks voice was light but he wasnt a light weight singer.
Eddie had that killer falsetto!
I was blessed with bass.
The Original 5 are my all time favorites

Melvin was wonderful.
But he needed a haircut.

The bass singer William Bobo was the one who taught him everything. Bobo is all over my page

I think they all bare a resemblance

Although I love many Motown greats, The Temptations are without a doubt my favorite.🌟❤️
awww melvin was so sweet. they did their thing with casting the movie
MELVIN.......THAT VOICE !!!!! The voice of a god

He was, although I didn't care for the actor who portrayed him in that movie. He was too soft for me.
Dennis Edwards was a really funny guy in his interviews so was Melvin may God rest their souls

I believe what you mean is that every original member is dead except Otis.

@JaySinger If they are still touring, then they should be called the "Imitations" rather than the Temptations.
RIP to Mr. Dennis Edwards.

He was older than 19. He was about 32/33. This aired in 1980. According to Wikipedia, Glenn was born in 1947.

Richard Street was the most underrated and underappreciated of the Temptations. And Melvin Franklin voiced "Wheels" on the Pole Position cartoon.
