And they didn’t adjust. They is a good run defense but they had success early. There were runs called back but they were good runs. This pass rush was too good to go pass heavy early. They had the chance to go back to their roots and run first through the whole first half. All the way up to 10-3. They should have just forced the run over and over and made this defense tired. We have depth at running back. I don’t care if you run it 3 times and punt 3 drives in a row. Just run it. The pass rush can’t get a sack on a run and our backs rarely take negative runs. The Vikings looked like they knew every time a pass was coming and covered it well but we kept trying. mLF has a tendency to do this a couple times a year. He tries to get cute and has a bad game plan. He’s a master most of the time but every once in a while he makes a bad choice and fails to adjust
@ that’s exactly my point. They kept throwing it even though it wasn’t working. The packers average 52% of their plays are runs. They passed 30 times and ran it 24. They had 2 backs average 4.8 and 4.1 YPC. That’s a great YPC. If you run it 4 downs you’re all but guaranteed to get a first down. That’s what they normally do. The packers tried to be cute by faking what they did to Seattle and saints imon the first drive by making it look like they were going to run through Jacob’s but they did play action and failed. They also tried to throw deep over the middle way too much and it wasn’t even close
I still think we have a chance but we definitely have an uphill battle. We have to make upgrades at CB. Nixon as CB1 over half our games is not a recipe for success. Jaire is one of my favorite packers but we’re not getting enough game time to justify keeping him after this year.
This game really showed how an ineffective pass rush can give a game away. It’s really disappointing to not see Clark and Gary disrupt games like they used to in the past. Seeing these types of games over and over again really makes me question the culture that this team has. I don’t know how many more times we can watch this team only play one half or one quarter of football. It’s great to see our defense adjust at times, but our offense never seems to adjust at all. Why we’re making Love drop back and wait for long developing routes against a very successful blitzing defense is beyond me. It’s as if this offense has no short pass package whatsoever. As it stands right now, I don’t think we deserve to be in the playoffs. We’ve shown that we can’t compete with the really good teams in the league. I think we can be serious contenders next year, but we need some serious help at edge and CB.
There’s always a chance that they can make a run, but this team feels like it’s a few players away right now. Edge rushers and corner are a big need. And the talk of not needing an actual #1 receiver is cute, but having an alpha again sure would be nice in games like these.
MLF has to trust the process. Going for it on 4th down is Dan Campbell, not Matt LaFleur. The DC has changed, but they need to play more man coverage. Jordan Love is the 2nd best QB on the team. Malik Willis is sharp as a tack. He comes in READY TO BALL.
I'm not sure I agree with you on the Malik Willis comment, although I'd be in favor of a package for him here and there, but I think Hafley wants to play more man coverage. He's probably hamstrung not having his high priced CB available. Alexander is very good in man coverage, but since he's signed that contract, he's rarely available.
Has been through two different defensive schemes in two seasons and was a raw project with freak attributes when we drafted him. You can’t blame him without looking at everyone on that D front…. Our d-line coach honestly seems terrible…
The defense couldn't get to Darnold, but they rarely get to the QB's of good teams without blitzing. I'm sure Hafley was afraid to blitz and leave the DB's one on one against those receivers. I'll be interested to see if his game plan changes when (if?) Alexander and Williams are back in lineup. Moving Nixon back to the slot puts him in a great position to blitz. And he appears to be the only CB who wants to tackle.
Everybody this is a young team with a first year coordinator and first year the defense has been in this system. We need to upgrade the pass rush and secondary for next year specifically at cb. Also some upgrades on O line
It was the last minute of the first half and first 7 minutes of the second half that doomed us. Love needs to understand situationally that we can’t give the ball back at the end of the first half and then two more boneheaded presnap penalties derailed back to back drives in the second. It’s week 17. These mistakes can’t keep happening
Hafley has given us a top 10 defense. He has done a phenominal job considering its his first year and he does not have his players yet. We all knew the pass rush has been a problem. We blitzed against the Vikings and they were ready for it. When your offense scores 3 points over 3 quarters that is a big problem.
Right! People don't mention that. Try being on a defense with a depleted secondary playing a dangerous pass offense and having to be on the field ALL game long cuz your offense flopping 3 and outs
We sorta lost of our confidence in the Packers after watching this Game against Minnesota. Same issues . Slow start . Too many penalties! Lack of a pass rush ! Drops by receivers !
Rashan Gary is average as BEST! Also, LVN is bordering on bust territory at this point based on when he was drafted. We have no talented/gifted/reliable pass rusher.
Committing to the running game so much, completely disrupted our Qb and the passing game. It was clear even in the previous weeks, but against Top opponent it is devastating. Gb offense has to relay on the passing game and his talented Qb. At the same time, MLF has to make a decision on wether to go for it or not on 4th downs, his inconsistent "gut feeling" is mileading the players
Lafleur is constantly outsmarting himself. I don't understand why he thinks taking the ball the first half is a good idea. You allow the team to get back to back possessions. His play calling is horrendous, until he allows Love to just play his game. When the run is working, he goes away from it. When the passing is working, he chooses to run. Also, Gary, Clark, LVN are all awful. Gute needs to stop wasting defensive picks the first round. Gary takes plays off all the time. LVN should've never been drafted that high. Clark just has too many miles at this point of his career.
Love doesn't make the play calls, MLF does. Love reads the defenses. Love's mechanics is still a huge problem that effects his accuracy. Where was our blitz packages? We show pressure but drop back too often. The first field goal should have been a touchdown attempt. The 4th and 2 should have been a field goal attempt. MLF's play calling was terrible in this game. Not enough screens or short quick passes. Not being able to adjust the offense or defense from series to series is very concerning.
There is something to Love’s lack of displaying a fiery competitive spirit as he plays subdued and content to just throw for 64 yards in 3 quarters without at least scrambling for first downs.
I wanna know what happened to our 10-20 yard down the middle pass game has gone? It’s been nonexistent since the bye. It seems in an effort to cut down Loves interceptions he’s been told not to really attack the middle or we haven’t been calling plays to really attack that area. We are attacking 0-10 and 20+ and almost nothing else. I’d also like to say MLF offensive game plans against the good NFC teams are lackluster and vanilla. ATTACK the defense. There was a clear and obvious game plan change by the Vikings offense once Zane went out. They started consistently pushing the ball downfield. Regarding the pass rush, I hope gute has now learned that taking flyers on highly athletic but inexperienced guys in the first round is just too risky. Gary has kinda panned out. LVN hasn’t at all.
The Vikings coaching staff is way better than Green Bay, it’s been proven over and over. We weren’t competitive, we have the same problems we’ve had all year, we aren’t that well coached. MLF can’t win against good teams.
LaFluer has Love dropping back way too deep before he turns and looks to throw downfield while Kraft and Jacobs are wide open off to the sides but Love doesn’t even look to throw to them. He had only 64 yards passing for over three quarters and was shut down by a good defense. Compared to Darnold throwing for 377 yards and 25 first downs. Darnold is playing elite and Love played like a backup QB. Darnold deserves Love’s pay and vice versa. Love is the problem and GB is stuck with him for 3 more years of not being able to compete against playoff caliber teams. Good QBs overcome receiver drops. Look at Herbert with Johnson. Love is a joke making childish memes of “Toyotathon” when he is proving to be the most overpaid QB in the NFL along with the hashtag “NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME BIG GAMES”!! I really think Malik Willis ability to scramble along with their running game would have won this game for GB.
I think MF gets mind-locked and can’t think. There was a third and long late in the game and you know the Vikings are blitzing. They called a 15-20 yard play without a hot read. Seriously dumb call.
I mean there is some more truth this time considering this is a team with the youngest offense and among the youngest defenses. It's not like it's a team filled with guys in their prime. All of our offense besides Jacobs or Jenkins has 4 regular seasons or less of true NFL regular season experience. It's no cpincidence that Jacobs is our only skill position player on offense with more than 3 regular season games worth on his belt and is also the best player overall on offense. Our defense is also loaded with guys with 4 regular seasons in the NFL or less of experience. Ja by far our most experienced defensive player has been out a good chunk of the season.
This team is not as talented as everyone thinks. Very few starters, if any, would start for the Vikings. How many swings and misses does Gutey get? LVN, Gary, Walker, Wyatt. None of them have lived up to their draft status.
Lefluer tries to spread the ball too much in the passing game ... If he passes the ball to a certain receiver once it is almost a certainty he will NOT throw the ball a 2nd time to that same receiver ... We must use Tucker Kraft more in the receiving game ... Target him at least 6 to 7 times a game, and throw it to him 2 or 3 consecutive times ... How we are utilizing Jayden Reed is a crime ... Terrible coaching and no imagination in the offensive game plan.
One thing is clear. Matt’s three consecutive 13 victory seasons to open his head coaching career was 100% the direct result of Aaron Rodger’s brilliance. Congratulations, Matt. Aaron’s absence has proven you are truly nothing more than a clueless deer in a headlights. Cuz now your shiddy quarterback has become precisely what you are. CLUELESS!!!
@@fvgc454ss I was referring to Matt's first three seasons. Btw, I only got to watch one of Rodgers games this year. He was throwing absolute darts. But the receivers were dropping everything. They lost. But not because of him. So I can't comment on who is to blame for the other 11 losses.
@cherbutler85 go watch the bills game 😅 and beyond that MLF literally took the youngest team in the NFL with a 1st year qb deep into the playoffs last year. And they are going again this year so you have some flawed logic. They are simply a young team. They will make mistakes and there isn't a single real superstar player on this team. They are where they should be with the talent they have. He won 2.5 games alone with a back up qb who make no mistakes. That's coaching.
No We are Not a Year or Two Away unless we want to be - We are actually one win streak away from the Super Bowl - Wake up Its Playoff Time - Win Now not two years from now that Never comes - Look at the Pack after 2010 - It was always dont worry Rodgers is so Young and Year after Year we Lost in the Playoffs. The Time to win is always your Next Game.
Of any player on this team Kenny Calrk is the biggest disappointment. Darnold just stepped up into the pocket and sat there til someone broke open. Absolutely no push up the middle.
The Pack, 16 games into the season, still doesn’t know what their identity is. Go for it on 4th down? Sure, but give to your best offensive weapon-Jacob’s. But no, the Pack takes what they think the opposing defense is giving them. That’s losing football.
If anything (and I felt this way before the game) I felt if GB won it may make ur less likely we’d win against them in the playoffs - the Offense was apparently unprepared for the heavy man to man D - now this gives the coaches time to prepare next game + its always easier to get up for the next game after a loss - plus we didn’t have our deep threat Christian which would have likely forced the MN D to us like we over defended JJ & Addison & leaving Nailor wide open - & I expected us to get beat with Top CB, 2 safeties & LB out - while the Vikes were healthy - let’s see how playoffs go - look at all the nuances, not just simple conclusions
The key to winning bg games - play better. There were too many of their receivers running free. Too few of our receivers were open. Where were our TEs over the middle? Why take low % long shots on 3rd and short? Why didn't we kick the dang field goal on 4th and well within range? In a close game, why wouldn't we take the pts? We can win the big games if we make better decisions and just play up to their ability.
@@cooper57m I hear ya. One big play of the game to me was that Jacobs fumble man. I know it was only the first drive, but we were moving the ball on that drive. If we go in for a TD to start the game, it's probably a way different ball game than it was.
First things first - Are you sure about the talent level? Given that Gute has been missing on 50% or more of his drafts picks (go back and look at the last 4-5 years), i'm not sure you can assume the talent level is high. A couple examples: Green Bay could have drafted Amon-Ra St. Brown in the third round of the 2021 draft. Instead they selected Amari Rodgers. Also, Josh Myers instead of Creed Humphrey. There are a lot more examples out there - these are just the obvious. I think right now one has to assume that Green Bay is in the top 35-40% in talent level, and that is about where their win % is. A couple of other notes: 1- Jordan Love will never crack the top-ten for NFL QBs (Get used to it) 2- After the numerous first-round draft picks, the CB position will need to be re-worked in the offseason. 3- GB will need a true number 1 WR in order to compete with the top teams in the league. 4- MLF will need to take a long look at this play calling in the first half of games this season. They looked like shit in the first half (Again) and it wasn't all execution.
One thing I always look for whenever a team is shorthanded is the players who are going to step up. So, when the Green Bay Packers found out that Christian Watson would officially be out, it stood to reason to look at the receiving corps and the players who should’ve been primed to step up. Romeo Doubs somewhat did his part as he led the team in receptions and yards while Dontayvion Wicks also came up with a solid outing. Jayden Reed, however, was on the other side of the coin as a complete non-factor in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings. Jayden Reed was targeted 4 times in the loss at Minnesota, but hauled in just 1 of those passes for 6 yards. The lack of catches wasn’t all on him as Jordan Love didn’t help him at times with some questionably placed throws but Jayden Reed still had to be better than he was. He was simply failing to put himself open or in position to make plays against the Brian Flores defense. It’s been a frustratingly inconsistent season for Jayden Reed in the 2024 campaign and this was another instance of the downside of that. It just happened to come at an impossibly bad time as well. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
Also, spoiler alert, I traveled forward in time with Buck Nasty and the Time Haters, and GB retains the 7-seed, goes into Philly, and Saquan has 125 yards by halftime and the game is already out of reach - end of season. Sorry -
They can, with a couple adjustments. MLF needs to figure out his identity on offense. On 3rd and short/4th and short and with goal to go situations we use too many bells and whistles because we can’t just pin our ears back and smash our balls down their (the defenses) throats. if they can find an outside compliment to Nixon…apparently he is the only corner worth his contract on the roster. Jaire’s only strength is running his mouth, and riding the pine in games with a receiver he’s ran his mouth against saying he’s so much better than them. He’s soft, stokes stinks, and gutey lost his bet on the depth of the Packers secondary.
DLine was a total no show. JLove was pedestrian. Couldn’t tell JReed was even in the game. They have a deep enough receiving corps that should have stepped up even without Watson. I don’t agree with the assessment on Kraft. They would be crazy to let him walk if he keeps playing at this level. TEs that can run, catch and block are not easy to find especially considering the Packers haven’t had a good one since Finley had to retire. A good TE opens up the middle of field and forces the defense to account for him. They should have went to Kraft way more than they did. Especially early in the game.
Disgusting performance on O until helgas decided to play prevent D. Rather pathetic we 1-4 in divison, i cant recall last time lions and helgas swept us. Team just isnt good enough which is a repeating cycle and for that off to philly they go. Is what it is. Dont like this Love been seeing lately its boring and scared ball control. Gimme the gunslinger. The throws darnold was making yesterday love makes we all seen him make them. Thats gone from this offense and its not winning ball against better opponents. Way to conservative lafluer and Clements making him play. Jacobs is awesome but O should still run through Love and thats not the case therefore better figure it out by wildcard.
Not worried about losing to the Vikes or the Bears. Wait for the playoffs when EVERYTHING is on the line and it's one & done. These last two games have zero urgency. The Vikes might just be a bit overconfident at this point.
People can flame me all they want but if Watson is in this offense they win games. He opens up everything else for everybody else. Doubs is not a priority to resign for the money he wants and for a guy that walked out on his team mid season.
J.Love has and always will be a risk taker (he’s started less games than Mac Jones) give him time. The O-Line didn’t give him much time that’s for sure 😳
He's been in the nfl for like 5 years... J Love is who he is at this point: misses easy throws at times and looks to be guessing when reading the field. He's still good, but stop with this needs more time crap
Disagree. Game plan appeared to have 7 step drops and long developing plays. No go against blitz. Many times I was screaming at the tv for him to just throw the ball! They asked too much of the oline
Look The Vikings Nearly Blew this Game!!! Are you telling Me thats what a Super Bowl contender does "Let their foot off the Gas"??? I dont think so - If the Pack sees tham again the Pack Will Win!!
Malik Willis could have won this game with his scrambling ability the Vikings defense would not have contained. He also is an accurate passer. Unfortunately GB is stuck having to start an over-hyped QB unable to make good judgements in passing to open targets versus playoff caliber defenses

Everyone is overrating GB’s supposed talent. The product on the field is what it is. They were barely a .500 team last year with an easy schedule, and they’ve only beat bad teams this year.

@@petemccarry2326 seek help please
I agree about Willis...and he gives you run threat when things break down.
Willis > Love
LVN………………the 13th pick .
Has been through two different defensive schemes in two seasons and was a raw project with freak attributes when we drafted him. You can’t blame him without looking at everyone on that D front…. Our d-line coach honestly seems terrible…
"Peter Bullshit'cowski, I think you're a idiot" ... 😂😂😂😂
Totally agree with you about this
💯🎯💯
We need a true wr 1
That doesn't matter if you're lacking a franchise qb.😂😂😂😂
@jeffreyseverson135 so it's Jordan's fault the receiver's can't catch the ball?
Get well soon, Andy!
Don’t fool yourselves this loss is SOLELY on the coaching staff.
Well that and poor qb play, penalties and an elite opponent. Stick to beating the bears and being the best of the worst.😂😂😂😂
Rashan Gary is average as BEST! Also, LVN is bordering on bust territory at this point based on when he was drafted. We have no talented/gifted/reliable pass rusher.
Woke up to a bad Jordan Love throwing day
Committing to the running game so much, completely disrupted our Qb and the passing game.
I'll take last years team over this one.
Jordan looked like a baby deer compared to Darnell
I agree on both statements.
I’m glad he called out Love. He has been missing wide open receivers with horrible throws
Jordan Love plays like he listens to Kenny G's greatest Mellow songs before games
... When he needs some Metallica to get fired up !!! ...
There is something to Love’s lack of displaying a fiery competitive spirit as he plays subdued and content to just throw for 64 yards in 3 quarters without at least scrambling for first downs.
I'm not sure he has a LOVE for the game.
@petervaichus6978 no no no, you're mistaken, if you read the other comments he just needs more time to develop 😂
@ - oh yeah. Got it. Thanks for enlightening me on the need to only drink the “Toyotathon” kool-aid narrative!!
I think MF gets mind-locked and can’t think. There was a third and long late in the game and you know the Vikings are blitzing. They called a 15-20 yard play without a hot read. Seriously dumb call.
"We're a year or two away". Every Packers-fan since 2020😅
I mean there is some more truth this time considering this is a team with the youngest offense and among the youngest defenses.
Tired of discussing last season. It's all about now, this season.
The Saleh affect
One thing is clear.
Matt’s three consecutive 13 victory seasons to open his head coaching career was 100% the direct result of Aaron Rodger’s brilliance.
Congratulations, Matt.
Aaron’s absence has proven you are truly nothing more than a clueless deer in a headlights.
Cuz now your shiddy quarterback has become precisely what you are.
CLUELESS!!!
Rodgers is currently 4-12 😂
No Pass Rush and we Lose by two Points??
Great points. Teaches me to temper expectations. This team is young and has a great future ahead of them
This "great future ahead" is since 2010😅. At some point, this future should finally arrive
So tired of hearing that.
Of any player on this team Kenny Calrk is the biggest disappointment. Darnold just stepped up into the pocket and sat there til someone broke open. Absolutely no push up the middle.
Found was reliable and seemed focus as did Kraft. Reeds blocking was crap
Give us max Crosby
The answer to the title of your video is no.
If we play Philly we'll get beat by at least 14...
Aside from tackling, Bullard looks just as bad as Savage
Atleast savage was fast. Bullard is slow and bad at football
@Will-q7c Agree, he just hits really hard when he doesn't whiff
I don't blame the defense. They played their butt off and had no help from offense
A couple of other notes:
1- Jordan Love will never crack the top-ten for NFL QBs (Get used to it)
2- After the numerous first-round draft picks, the CB position will need to be re-worked in the offseason.
3- GB will need a true number 1 WR in order to compete with the top teams in the league.
4- MLF will need to take a long look at this play calling in the first half of games this season. They looked like shit in the first half (Again) and it wasn't all execution.
Gonna have to win now that Washington did. Looks like 7th seed if we don't
I believe we end up with 7th seed even GB beats bears and Washington beats cowboys next week. They have the better NFC record then green bay
How many times did Love run? Slightly less than one time.
Sorry -
Watching lefleur call draw play after draw play in 2nd and long was so infuriating. His play calling was bad today until it almost didn’t matter
Not to mention time and time again you know they are gonna blitz and yet every receiver is on a mid-deep developing route. It was so hard to watch
Totally agree. I think Saleh is screwing him up
@@loganduerr4367agree. No short outs hardly. What made coach think that with a blitzing team you can do 7 step drops???
@@Janeo7404 that’s exactly what I was thinking especially when we have a player like Jayden Reed who’s best asset is after the catch
Nah the first game he was hurt. The game plans have been horrible. Horrible refs.
U don't rest the starts Green Bay can still get the #6:seed.
Play the starters for the first half

Cannot risk injury of starters so get ahead then pull them
If you settled for the field goal. You would have won

They’re not wrong. He is an idiot.
Guys there was a lot of holding going on that game not called. Several times they literally tackled Rashon
Packers are really not a good team.
Honestly I’m more bullish on the bears future than I am the packers
We have no good wins this year. The bears would've beat us without a blocked fg smh
Dropped passes has always been this teams Achilles
It’s stops + penalties
Not worried about losing to the Vikes or the Bears. Wait for the playoffs when EVERYTHING is on the line and it's one & done. These last two games have zero urgency. The Vikes might just be a bit overconfident at this point.
I hope you’re right. We played with Zero urgency yesterday
People can flame me all they want but if Watson is in this offense they win games. He opens up everything else for everybody else. Doubs is not a priority to resign for the money he wants and for a guy that walked out on his team mid season.
I agree and been preaching this too.
