Twas fine. But one of my favorite matches is okada vs omega that went for like 40 minutes and it wasn't boring and had a shit ton of action. And it was in the tokyo dome
This is why I consider Summerslam 2008 the last PPV of the Ruthless Aggression Era. What better way to end the era than with Cena vs Batista, Taker vs Edge, and the heights of the HBK vs Y2J fued.
I remember the 8 year old me being pissed off that I couldn’t watch the ppv because I was with my family all day buying furniture and my dad said we couldn’t get the ppv. We finally got home right before John Cena vs. Batista and after the whole day of my dad telling me I couldn’t watch the ppv, he took the tv remote and ordered the ppv for me. My heart was racing during the whole Edge vs. undertaker match and I was hyped af when the undertaker won. I still remember to this day I remember going to bed being so satisfied with the end of that storyline.
Jimmy McMuffin damn you’re lucky I was 4 years old in 2008😭 didn’t know a damn thing about wwe lmao I wish we could go back to that time and era when life was so simple and better
Taker coming back for post-match assault is a direct callback to when Edge did it to him after his MITB cash-in on the May 11, 2007 edition of SmackDown! Even the way Taker looks at Edge moving in the ring on the tron is basically IDENTICAL to the way Edge did it exactly to him 15 months earlier. It's SUCH a good touch to end the feud on, and brilliantly bookends it.
I was 15 at this time, so my friends had mostly outgrown WWE and moved onto UFC at this point, but once it was made official that John Cena and Batista were finally gonna lock horns, I remember it drew a good number of them back in, at least temporarily. That match-up was like seeing Batman taking on Superman, our version of Hogan vs Warrior. It was the ultimate culmination of my childhood fandom watching early 2000s WWE. With the impending arrival of the PG era, it really felt like it marked the end of an era in more ways than one. A lot of my friends fell back off the WWE bandwagon once the match was said and done (and thankfully, our boi Batista got the win so that was an even better note to go out on) and I can't really blame em cuz 2009 and 2010 were hard years to sit through a lot of the time.
Man, this video brought back so many good memories from WWE back then. It had a lot of bad stuff, but 2008 was a solid year. 2009 was horrible, though. Anyways, during those years PPVs were free in Mexico and they were broadcasted live, damn. I have vivid memories of the Edge vs Undertaker match. The whole PPV, really, but the Hell in a Cell in particular. This PPV and One Night Stand (also 2008) and Wrestlemania 24 (I think also 2008?) are my favorite of all time.
In Jerichos recent book he states that he did LEGIT punch Rebecca! It was an accident and he felt terrible but the lunch fully connected, she had a fat lip afterwards
JERICHO's turn here against Michaels was HBK's Kayfabe Karma for smashing Jannetty towards that glass in the Barber shop duiring his 1992 heel turn, it was Poetic and has a Bookend feel to it.. On the Other side of the Coin, Kevin Owen's turn on Jericho in the Festival of friendship a few years back, the one that was so masterfully executed, is the Visual and Poetic Kayfabe Karma for Jericho doing this to Michaels on his Highlight reel, it's just as beautiful as a symmetrical bookend.
Of every time period in wwe, haven't see much of 2008. It's weird seeing Cena wear black, Jericho wearing tights with short hair, and and the green summer slam design, all in HD.
I was born in 1997, and the ruthless aggression era is everything to me. It’s soo good cause I feel I can relate to you dude. Seeing Batista and John Cena clap each other was the highlight, almost like the hogan rock match. Icons. keep up the good work and can’t wait for you next videos 🤙🏼

I agree I was only 11 at the time and I loved the hell out of this show particularly the main event Edge Vs Undertaker is one of my all time favorite Hell in a Cell matches and just rivalries in general I remembered how legit upset I was when Edge cashed in and especially when Edge won the TLC match so especially as a kid how exciting and gratifying it was to see Undertaker send Edge to hell
Also, I like this ppv very much but I think I hold a special place in my heart for SS 2007. Granted it wasn't the best Summerslam by any means but it was the first ppv I was able to buy and just seeing both Triple H AND Rey Mysterio return in the same night was a thing of beauty. Also the hype up to the show is one of my favorites ever only because of that Whine Up song. But three back to back to back amazing Summerslams in a row ( 07, 08, 09) to close out the 2000's Was pretty cool.
This makes me wish I watched wwe in my childhood, I got into wrestling through the all stars game, but I always remember playing as Edge. Regardless, it's really enjoyable watching these ppv's and the reviews on it
As much as I enjoyed their feud in 2003 which resulted in one of my favorite matches of all time ( that epic WrestleMania XIX clash), the reworked rivalry with Michaels and Jericho here was phenomenal. They had great moment after great moment and it finished fantastically with that ladder match at No Mercy like oh man.
I remember watching that taker vs edge match a couple days after summerslam 08 on a bootleg dvd because my mom couldnt afford to order it and let me tell you that match was everything for me its still my favorite match of all time
U have the outlook of someone that grew up in MY time of wwe. I know there's "Eras" but dude u have a way of explaining this shit that I absolutely agree with. Keep this shit coming 💯
So glad I got to go to this ppv as a kid. I rewatched it on the network recently and there are some stinkers but I was lucky to witness these three moments. And honestly, JBL vs Punk was a pretty good match, and I love both of those stars. Great video, makes me relive it.
I read, or watched here on UA-cam as well I think, that it wasn’t at all scripted. Can’t remember exactly. But I think Shawn was supposed to duck or something and Y2J would miss and high tail on out of there but HBK’s wife was dead straight behind so she got clocked OR There was indeed a worked punch meant for Shawn’s wife but I think Y2J accidentally came in too hot and clocked her bad. I’m not entirely sure but it’s along the lines of that. Anyway, Good video!
It's the first Hell in a Cell match under the PG era and it is absolutely a brutal war despite the lack of blood which is a staple of all previous Hell in a Cell matches
Speaking on Batista vs cena as a kid born in 97, that almost caused real fights between me and my step brother (also 97) even though we both knew that shit was fake.
