- It is so good to see Blade back in the game with this futuristic and versatile new helicopter. As you can tell, they knocked it out of the park.
Flown with the Onxy 3S 2200 battery. Five minutes left it at perfect storage voltage.
Cool video fly safe but have fun 😊
Great maiden flight! If I get one, would likely re-paint the body in a more vibrant color. Perhaps Ferrari Red! 👍
Thank you! Everything looks better in Ferrari Red.
I took her to a big field yesterday with a couple packs, and I guarantee she's fast enough to wear Ferrari Red with pride. 😉😃
Sounds like you let the Eclipse stretch her legs! Do you own a Blade 230s? Wondering how they compare... always heard bigger helis are more stable.
@@Paul1FLSlow, fast, tight banks, and rock solid hover in a stiff breeze. 😍
The closest thing I have that currently is flying is the E200. It's good. This is better.
My other active Blade helis are the original MCPx and the 150s. The Eclipse is bigger than my retired Trex 450XL.
The Eclipse handles as a CP helicopter should. Controls are rock solid. Throttle management is required. It is not a drone in heli disguise.
My guess is that if you like the 230s, and are bored with pod and booms, you're going to be thrilled.
Excellent maiden flight. I too just maidened mine out front of my home, and it was rock solid once it got into the air. I had a similar tendency to drift forward and right, but after trimming and it got up, I reversed all to 0 and it flew perfectly. It sure does have a presents in the air. This is going to be a winner. Well done and I like your comments and reaction, as I had the same!
G.o
Thank you sir. The drift is minimal and easily controlled as you encountered. Big winner indeed.
I'm smitten.
Woof😂 slick looking helichopper. It's beeg! Smooth and love that sound. There's that laugh 😂
Big grins too.
I've often wondered why no one (that I know of) makes foam bodies for helicopters, given how well they work for fixed wing.
It's exciting to see Horizon get away from the pod and boom thing. I hope Jason is very successful back on the Heli team.
@@RARenfield I recall years ago there was a foam body heli. I only have one heli and it's a very basic little one. Jason seems like a good guy. He sure takes a lot of guff on RCG.
I just got a little Fusion 180, and have gone round robin with tech support over it's insane tendency to drive the rotors in to the ground during spool up with wanting to go right as well. I've had multiple rotor strikes, and NONE of my other helis do that. Blade or otherwise. Cool heli this one though.
Thanks. Fortunately, this tipping was very easily handled.
Could it have something to do with the gear? Maybe a long shot, but the tricycle gear vs. skids might change the dynamic slightly. Just a guess.
After this maiden I recalled that my Blackhawk has this tendency as well. Even after careful leveling of the swash. I just haven't flown it or any helis for a while. So with a first flight in something this cool, I was watching it like a hawk.
I’ve had a fusion 180 for a few months and when I first got it, my rudder servo bided up and burnt up within a few minutes, I had to go through horizon hobby to get a new servo, but I’m also impatient so I did next day delivery from amazon. I still can’t figure out why the servo is still so loud and buzzes, it’s like there’s an issue with the servo horn
Congrats on the new model and a successful maiden.
Thanks!
Looks amazing and it sounds mean!
Funny I just found my first ever air RC, a small foam toy helicopter from about 15 years ago. I should try to resuscitate it.
I'm very pleased. Even more so since the mail lady didn't run me over while doing the glam shot. ☺
@@RARenfield public road flying at its best 😄
really nice helicopter and nice flight, im terrible at flying helicopters, subscribed 😀 👍
Welcome, and thank you! I'll try not to do something to scare you off. They're a blast.
Ewwwwww! A lab rat with the new release! Absolutely love this! Normal for it to tilt upon take off. I love this concept and I'm hoping that it works in practice. I wonder what radio you're playing with? I'm pleased that they got away from the old pod and boom. The gravitas! Wait till you wind that thing up a few more RPM! Retracts would have been great but you know how that works. I'm guessing it's on a Spektrum radio now that I think about it? It'll be cool to get it on a proper radio lol. Hopefully someone will put the settings together for an OpenTX? Thanks for the quick tour!
Every time I tell myself "no more pre-releases" those stinkers at Horizon come up with a doozy.
I really like the looks. And the possibilities. Twelve screws and this foam body is off. Can other foam bodies be far behind? 🤔
My mastery of open source is too dicey to gamble on this one. I took the easy route. Which wasn't all that easy. In the end, I watched the HH YT video for the full setup. Mixes aren't my thing. But the panic button seemed like a good idea.
I had the battery charged and the NX10 setup before the box arrived.
Awhile ago you did a review on the Eclipse 360 helicopter. Do you still think it is a excellent helicopter? Thank you for your take.
Hi David. Thanks for dropping in. I still like the Eclipse. It's a no-nonsense CP helo with a unique look. Lots of power, uses common 3S 2200 batteries and cool lighting.
Maybe not the ideal fit for me, as I'm really enjoying the no-sweat RC Era models. What kind of flying do you like to do? A 3D pilot would get more out of the Eclipse than I do.
For me, a decked out scale Huey checks all the boxes. I've added LEDs to my Eachine E190 and it's a gem.
@RARenfield Thank you for the information. I like the looks of the Eclipse. Like yourself, I just want a kickback flight. I currently have the blade 150s, but it's harder to see as I get older. I'm not into 3d.
@@davidelardo1160 Sounds like we have similar tastes that way. I've been thrilled with the RC Era offerings. Scale looks, scale flight, no drama, good prices. Their C189 (MD 500) is a real gem. Flight times typically 12 minutes. Eachine E190 (Huey) is also great fun for a little bit more $$.
Thanks again for the info. I will look into the birds you mentioned. Wedo have similar interests.@RARenfield
Nice !! So you think other bodies could be coming 😃👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Why not? Twelve screws and the guts are out. Not that I'm anxious to change this pseudo scale fuse.
Two more flights today at the Community Center. This baby really hauls the mail in some open space.
It's freakin' my freak. In all the right ways.
If another version appears, I'll likely just get the whole enchilada. It's that good. 😃
Sounds great.
If you haven't already messed with the trim a bit to fix the lean, I think a little lean at takeoff with these blade heli's is pretty normal.
Thank you. Yes, apparently I'm the only one who didn't get the memo. 😂 I've since had multiple flights without incident. My thumbs are "down with the sickness" now.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey cool review dose it need an ic3 or ic5 connector ?
Thanks Brian. I don't have any of the new "smart" batteries. It's flying on a regular 3S 2200 with an EC3. But I think the IC5 also works.
I'm pretty sure that IC3 are the smaller ones that I cut off and replace with JST out of the box.
Really cool
Hi there..is it advasiable for beginner like me?does it have auto stable mode?thank you
Hello. There are a number of offerings that do the flying for you. This one requires that you do the flying. It has stabilization and a panic recovery button. But it is a full collective pitch helicopter. If you have solid experience with fixed wing models, it might be a good choice.
your swashplate is not level. any rtf heli always go through flight controller setup and make sure swashplate is level and moves up and down level.
I set it up by the book. Flies great. 😉
I want that
