Girl yes same here I'm learning all about cars but I like it when I can find a video that makes me feel confident about what I'm doing it's a wonderful thing!
Thank you so much Falcon! You are my mechanic. My plan was to do it myself but ended up showing the parts guy what you have taught us to do on your channel. You're a BLESSING! I saved $$. Keep'em coming...
you told me about the clips that slide into the headlight housing and I didn't listen but about an hour in of trying to figure out why the headlight won't turn on I rewatched the video and figured it out thank you 😂
Thanks. Your pretty thuro on directions and make it easy to understand how to do things. Others say oh wait I have to put the camera down to do it ill show you after it's out and always forget to.
Great video!! I found this so my stepdad could change the headlight bulbs that had gone out! I’m not sure if it’s possible to not have to take out the battery on the right side to change the bulb? We had to take it out but maybe there’s a way not to idk. Great video so helpful thank you!!!
@@FalconsGarage maybe you have a solution to my headlight problem. I have an '06 Beetle with 2.5L engine. Left headlight will not stay in all the way so it loses contact and goes off. Any tips? The lock mechanism is good, but may vibrate down? The little aluminum lever is good, and keeps it from falling out. If we smack it hard enough, the light comes back on. Ouch! I bought the car used. It may have gone 'off road' if you know what I mean. Thanks!

All of us dads here for their daughters car :) my daughters 2010 red rock driver side popped out and she ran it over. I ordered a new one and it just snapped in place. I dont see any screws etc to “lock” it into place. Am I missing something?
@@alankatoxct can you let me know what you did? I’m struggling as well. I’m thinking of buying a very thin socket wrench extension cuz I can’t get in to loosen the hold
@@FalconsGarage the 08 beetle definitely has the battery components in the way. Your video was great though - helped a lot for the passenger side headlight
Could you do a video on how to re-aim the Beetle headlights? There are videos for other VWs, but it's impossible to work under a Beetle hood without disassembling something.
Great video!! Much better lighting than others I've seen! Please advise. '08 beetle I'm looking to upgrade from standard bulbs to LED. Please give me a site that I can purchase appropriate bulbs and headlight assembly or do they come as a package?
Great video, so easy. Unfortunately my right headlight still does not work. I removed & reinstalled- still no work. Any suggestions ? My Right rear yellow turn signal does not work either. All fuses are good.. Can that yellow bulb being out stop my headlight from working ? Right turn signal blinks very fast. Any tips are appreciated. Will
At this point I would attack it with a test light. If the assembly is getting power then the issue is on the head light assembly. Be patient and one step at a time.
@@FalconsGarage Thanks, I tested feeder connector & discovered that it was not making a good connection with the actual headlight. I did some jerry rigging on the back of the bucket & got the connections to plug in all the way. Lights on ! Not hem, but they work none the less. Thanks for the suggestion & your video.
@@benbertagnolli4411 yes it did. The actual bucket that is screwed to the fender has plastic that helps align the connector when you install the light- I just cut that small guide so I could connect by hand.. Fixed all my issues… on the car anyway..
It would be helpful to me if you could describe how to replace the headlight bulb on the other side - there are more and different parts in the way. In another comment, you mention that it's not that hard but yeah, I think that's easy for you to say. I have no idea what I'm doing.
@@FalconsGarage safety clips and connector seems fine, its just still not getting a good connection. The other side is working fine. Once i push it in a little it will start working but after a day or just it running it will stop working.
I don't get it, on some car forums folks badmouth VW for requiring "special"/dealer only tools for this job. I tended to believe their whining as I often see Beetles with 1 burned out headlight...or daytime running light.
May be, like mine, the lock mechanism is loose and connection is not good until it is punched back in. I may have to carry a small tool bag in the car, with the 5mm socket and extension and wrench. May be less painful.
Thank you! From a girl with no car knowledge, attempting to change my own out. I feel confident I can do it now!
Glad I could help!

Just a note to say thank you so much for showing us how to do this. After your video I was able to do this all on my own with little fus. Xo

Thank you for sharing the size of the socket!! No one does that for this repair for some reason

This is the way it works at Beetles from 2006 to 2011. Models before had another type of headlights.

Can the alternator come out of that hole?
