Her and Vicerys' youngest is serving as a squire in Old town, this is actually great cause he played a big role for the dance and people thought they abandoned this plot.
Ok given that its episode 2 and you guys still don't understand the opening i guess ill explain it for you , the tapestry is ment to show you the history of house Targaryen and its history up till this point. The first image we see is what seems to be the origin of old valyrea and their dragons, the next is daenys the dreamer the savior of House Targaryen who prophecied the fall of old valyrea and convinced her father to flee to westaros, the next is the doom of old valyrea, the next is aegon and his sister wives during the war of conquest symbolized by the burning of harrenhall the castle daemon keeps mentioning wanting to take for rhenyrea as well as the field of fire when the Targaryens beat the lannesters and the former kings of the reach , the next is the formation of the Targaryen dynasty and the previous kings before visarys, we first see maegor the cruel the second son of aegon the conquer who uerped the throne from hos nephew who he also killed he's the guy Otto compared daemon too and claimed he'd be the same type of king if he was visarys hier, the next is young jeaharys the king before visarys and more recent events your familer with . Also the model visarys Made was of old valyrea not kings landing if you payed attention to how Kings landing actually looks like youd know they look nothing alike and visarys already explained what the model was in episode 2 of season 1 but i understand its been a while.
Fun fact: Helena was making Jaeharys's Funeral shroud before he even died as seen in episode one. She just didn't know why she was making it until it was too late...
Daeron is the youngest child of Viserys and Alicent. He is around the same age of Jace. He has been in Oldtown with Otto’s brother and the other hightowers during the events of HOTD so far. He will be coming in the show next season. The writers said the reason he hasn’t been showed yet was to flesh out the other characters first. Hopefully that clears that up for you.
@@1FM1397earliest reference as far as I can tell is when Daemon (in S1E10) says the greens have four dragons. But to non-book readers that really wasn’t a good hint lol
Thats what i was thinking too like Tywin was clearly manipulative without any regards for all of his child’s mental n physical health but otto actually cares for them while also smartly controlling them.
He is a second son of lord Hightower… not in line to inherit anything…. If he was the lord of a Great House like Tywin… he would command the same power and respect
@@exgardevior You obviously didn't listen to Tywin's story about his father who almost ruined House Lannister. Being the Lord of a Great House alone does not mean you command either power or respect, both have to be earned no matter as whom you're born.
I really don't see the similarity. While both are powerful hands, they seem to have achieved that power in vastly different ways. Otto uses soft power by convincing his rulers that it is in their best interest to walk the path he lays out for them, Tywin uses his authority and simply takes the power to act in his own right.
I love how the fight between the twins kind of represents the war between the Greens and the Blacks but on a smaller scale. They were family who chose different sides. Their fight was messy and chaotic and in the end no one really won cause neither of them can live with the fact that they killed their own flesh and blood
@sportsrocky I know, but I'm talking about Otto actually stealing Queen Rhaenyra throne and putting an incompetent on it. He thought it would be easy, but now half the realm has turned against him, and he lost the power he schemed for years to hold on to. He has no choice but to double down and fight on because they all committed treason, which is a death sentence
@milfordgunnie4599 Oh, so am I. It reminds me of the poem Ozymandias "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my works, ye mighty and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away"
I like this version of the twins duel more than the book. The fact there is a decisive victor who simply can’t live with himself after slaying his brother really drives home the tragedy.
These twins are among of the very first characters GRRM created of dance era. They are both written among the legendary knights in history of westeros.
Daron, the 3rd son of Alicent , was sent as a cupbearer to Oldtown. And another great book fact about Otto: After all the rat catchers were hanged, he brought 100 cats to the Red keep. So much later Arya can catch cats there.
People talking about what Daemon did but forgot that Otto ordered to the commender of the kings guerd to kill Rhaenyra and her children int heir sleep when they were usurping the throne in s1. It only didnt happen beacuse the guy refused to do it
In case you haven't noticed, the intro tells the story of House Targaryen, from their bonding with dragons centuries ago in Old Valyria to the death of Lucerys in the previous season. The initial scenes show Daenys the Dreamer foreseeing the doom of Valyria. Then we transition to Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters traveling to Westeros, the burning of Harrenhal during the war, and the kings who knelt before them. The king later shown on the throne with a sword through his neck is Maegor the Cruel, who would be the great-great-granduncle of Viserys and Daemon. Everything that follows is what we see from the first episode onwards. I'm sorry if there's anything written incorrectly, English is not my native language
@@rexibhazoboa7097that would be Daenys the dreamer. She’s the one that had the dream about the Doom in the first place. The guy she’s holding is either her father Aenar or her brother/husband Gaemon
The intro doesn't have any spoilers. It's the history of House Targaryen - Daenys the Dreamer prophesying the Doom of Valyria and telling her father who took House Targaryen and fled Valyria to Dragonstone, the Doom of Valyria, the Targaryen Conquest of Westeros, King Maegor dying on the Iron Throne, King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne's golden age, the Great Council of Harrenhal which we saw in the first episode, the beginning of the Dance of Dragons with the two factions on different sides of the table, Aegon and Rhaenyra on their thrones on opposite sides and then Lucerys and Arrax being killed by Aemond and Vhagar which started the civil war.
@withxoutxlife ik they meant it as banter I just replied what I felt about carlie ange I think they are one of the good hotd reaction channels on here cause they understand both sides without over villianizing or white washing any characters!
@@dabhyun1133 Eh maybe up to late season 1 I could agree with this but in the show green is just clearly being portrayed as flat out more flawed/incompetent than black (not that black is perfect). Feel like people are kind of being contrarian to say otherwise at this point. In the books though sure its much less cut and dry there
Larys WAS sprinkling seeds AND probably hoped he’d be picked as hand. His seed sprinkling super backfired though when it inadvertently sprouts Cole as hand. Lol
I think it might still turn in his favor since cristons plan failed miserably 😅 I don’t think aegon will keep him as a hand after he finds out about it🙈
Technically 0. Rhaenyra was a princess when Cole had her, and Alicent would've been queen dowager, but Helaena removed that status once Aegon was crowned, which is almost immediately after Viserys's death. And, Queenlayer would've been better title imo 🤣
This was a really peak episode, so well made, now that Cole is hand of the king he can do whatever he wants essentially, that's what they show at the end, very well written.
04:50 The intro credits is a depiction of the history of House Targaryen, starting with Valyria and the doom to Aegons conquest (detailing all the battles and major events) to present day.
Daemon told Blood and Cheese to go for Aemond, but he also told them "a son for a son". They said it themselves whilst holding the queen at knife point. Blood says "he said a son for a son. does she look like a ffffing son to you"
Good episode. I think Cole just sent one of the twins to death knowing it would fail. So mad that he took his anger out on someone. Stellar acting from Rhaenyra, Aegon, Otto, and Cole.
It's not that he thought the mission would fail, it's that he doesn't care and it doesn't matter. If he succeeds well he's a hero and ended the war, if not oh well
i feel like part of it is because sir Arryk was actually representing dignity and honor and could put duty over his own personal feelings. Something that Cole is very much missing and sir Arryk is like a reminder of it.
I thought maybe when Helaena was looking up at the confetti she might have been seeing ashes, like when Dany goes to the house of the undying and goes into the throne room. But I dunno, just a thought really.
Team Black sends someone to murder children, but Team Green are awful because a widow and an already sullied knight (courtesy of Rhaenyra) are smashing on the side? It's amazing how the show will lead people emotionally, no matter how little sense it makes. And Daemon's words were not vague. He explicitly told them "a son for a son" if they could not find Aemond.
Never thought I would feel empathy for Aegon II, but here we are, that took some damn fine writing & acting Tom Glynn-Carney was outstanding. It shows the generational trauma in the Greens: Otto refusing to listen to Alicent speak about a "sin" that's troubling her, followed by Alicent immediately turning her back on Aegon in his grief and suffering. By the way, the cloth Helena was embroidering in the last episode becomes Jahareys funeral shroud in this episode, just in case your heart wasn't ripped to shreds for her already 😭 That poor girl knew what was going to happen, and did her best to communicate the danger to her son, poor Heleana. Something to bear in mind: every new character we get introduced to is going to be very important. Seasmoke circling Alan of Hull overhead is telling you what's up.
Aegon is an extremely sympathetic character. Minus the whole sexual assault stuff and watching children fight to the death, I actually relate to him on a deep level
I think Alicent walked not only away because of her guilt but also because she never learned how to comfort herself or others. All she had growing up was her faith and her father. We see it in how she treats her kids - and herself.
r.i.p. arryk & erryk --- the twins were duty-bound, loyal and honorable, but in this show threats to one's honor can make you the puppet of scoundrels.
Daemon’s words weren’t vague. He said “A Son of a Son”, if Aemond couldn’t be found. Jaehaerys was the only other possible option fitting that description, as Daemon couldn’t realistically have expected Blood and Cheese to successfully go after the King, who has Kingsguard protection 24/7. Daemon is fully to blame, he specifically set up Jaehaerys as the backup revenge.
4:51 That is the Doom of Valyria. The massive apocalyptic event that whipped out the Targaryen's people the Valyrians and led to them coming to Westeros.
I love how everyone calls Coles plan stupid, but it would have worked if Mysaria didn’t randomly stumble upon Ser Arryk when she was about to leave Dragonstone😅
True. In other movies where someone can shape-shift, no one says it's stupid Most people are saying it's dumb because they dislike Criston Cole. Just projecting their feelings towards him even though it actually wasn't a dumb plan. If the chick didn't randomly see the twin coming, Rhaenyra would've been slain
@@sproductionsinc I agree that they should have talked with the hand and the small council before, but I don’t think the plan itself was that stupid. It was a low risk, high reward plan.
It shouldn’t have been that easy but that’s bad writing imo (luck and convenience for drama) how’re they still dressed exactly the same, no shave or haircut. Sure fine, but then give your twin a word or something. They know he’s a twin 😂
Seeing her in the beginning Helena so shut down is only her shock on the outside. Just imagine what’s going on in her heart and mind. She had to pick which child was to die then had to hear the sound of her child’s flesh being cut through as she runs grasping her other child.
Most people keep saying that because they expected it to be more gruesome which wasn’t really necessary. how does it make no sense if they’re just simply being introduced?
Daemon doesn't want the throne! Viserys even said it in the pilot episode, he doesn't have the patience for it. How many times has that man been placing crowns on other people's heads? He only seeks glory for his house and is rather proud of his heritage. He just has no control over his impulses which makes him quite dangerous (like a dragon)
17:58 nope he’s just a hypocrite and wants to find a way to get out his anger of himself for letting the murder happen cause he was defiling his vows, so he’s deflecting onto Arryk
Rather than do the SMART thing and round up all the ratcatchers, then have Blood point out his accomplice, Aegon just went and killed the dude during the funeral procession and decided to hang all the INNOCENT ratcatchers in order to get ONE guilty person. He's brilliant, right? smh
05:07 Harrenhal when it was burned by Aegon and his sisters. Remember they told the story about how it burned so hot it turned the stone black and melted.
@@ARareBreedStory 1. You see the sigil of house gardener (the hand) on one of the corpses 2. There are several dragons involved and the field of fire is the only battle where all three dragons fought at once. (I think point 1. already suffices to sdee this)
At 28:30 you're wrong. It was Arryk (Team Aegon) who mentioned that he still loved his brother for leaving, and Erryk (Team Rhaenyra) who pressed the wound to get out of the wrestle and stab Arryk.
There is a reason Daemon is called The Rogue Prince and was George's Favorite Character in his stories. He is absolutely my all-time favorite character from the lore. can't be controlled and is the epitome of what a Targaryen Dragon Lord is. Never wanted the throne just wanted to be acknowledged and wanted the Targeryens to stay on top. he sees the weakness in Rheaynera just as he did in Viseries. He is loved by the common folk and is hated by anyone that had ambitions to the throne or to undermine the Targaryen's because he is seen as their biggest threat.
It’s not so much Cole was supposed to be at haelenas door.. like Arryk said, why hadn’t she been appointed a sworn protector? He was just bad at his job in that regard but it is his fault
The producers have not learned the mistakes of AGOT season 5-8, they keep changing the plot, I will write a quote from Martin here George Martin about film adaptations: "Everywhere you look, there are writers and producers willing to take great stories and 'make them their own.' It doesn't seem to matter whether the source material is written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J. .R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen or... well, whoever. No matter how great the writer is, how wonderful the book is, there will always be someone who thinks they can do better by wanting to. take a story and “improve” it. “The book is the book, the movie is the movie,” they will tell you, as if they were saying something profound. Then they make the story their own. However, they never make it better. Nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of a thousand they make it worse."
Spartan & Pudgey here is some context without spoilers, don't worry, the show is not going to tell you, and you need to keep this in mind if you haven't read the books: Daeron Targaryen is the fourth and last son of alicent and viserys. he is almost the same age as jace (the difference is minimal, maybe a couple of months) and together with his other three brothers he is also a dragon rider. at the age of twelve he was sent to old town (where the Hightowers live and where the maesters are trained) to become the cupbearer and squire of Lord Hightower (Otto's brother) that is why daeron does not appear in the first big time jump where the adult versions of Alicent and Rhaenyra were shown for the first time (chapter six). Extra 1- no spoilers, in game of thrones many things were omitted, but this is just an extra fact that broadens your perception of this world). I don't know if you remember Margaery Tyrell, from game of thrones, well she descends from the Hightowers, her mother Alerie Tyrell who didn't appear in the show is the daughter of the Hightower lord of her time, which would make Alicent her great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-aunt (give or take a few "greats") Extra 2- from oldest to youngest of Alicent's children without spolier of their destiny obviously. much of this data should already know, but the show for lack of time did not do it and will not do it: "Aegon II" - Ride sunfire ( his dragon described as the most beautiful dragon that ever existed that's why the green shield and aegon's clothes have a golden dragon). "Helaena" - Ride a dream fire (the dragon that appears in chapter six, just after aemond had bothered him with the pig. Helaena claimed him at the age of eleven, most of the dragons descend from her brood, they say she is the mother of dany's dragons from game of thrones). "Aemond" - Ride Vaghar "Daeron" - rides Tessarion "the blue queen". Pd: they are going to love daeron, along with Helaena they are the best of team Green.
2 episodes in and you are saying "the show will not tell you". I am pretty sure the show is going to show who rides what dragons and will elaborate on Daeron.
@@Thrashifice I doubt very much that the show will show dreamfire and helaena, or tell you the reason for aegon's banner, just give a general context that they have to take into account.
it's so annoying the show doesn't acknowledge Helaena being Dreamfire's rider they had the chance of showing their bond in this episode and let her burn her son's remains I imagine she would love being a dragonrider since she loves bugs and all kind of weird beings
@@Hafsah_Adil that was horse shit. Everyone knows Danys dragons are from Dreamfyres eggs stolen by Elissa Farman long before Syrax was even born. That interview part was just another biased attempt to project daenerys nostalgia bait to get even more casual appeal to team black
30:05 Daeron is the youngest child of Viserys and Alicent and was sent to Oldtown as a squire at a young age. He is an important character for the story and they should have introduced him in the first season because it will be confusing for those who haven't read the book.
Aegon is just a boy who was forced to uphold such burden and duty despite never being prepared for it. He lost a son and now acting only based on a grief and blinded by vengeance and that's not good.
I might be team black but house green won the acting in this episode. The actors who play Aegon, Otto, and Alicent were Emmy worthy this episode. Especially Aegon and Otto. Aegon was bordering on Joffrey levels of hate for me last episodes and this episode I reared up twice in scenes with him screaming.
Daemon did say 'a son for a son'. So saying it was just a miscommunication is letting him off the hook a little too easy. He should be aware of the consequences of his words. He has a child's blood on his hands and Pudgey saying that it wasnt as bad as what Cole did this in the episode (and throwing Alicent into the mix as well) is ridiculous. I know hes a cool character and you two support the Blacks but dont blindly whitewash over their behaviour.
Otto really expected a grieving father with a cruel streak to act rationally. He calls Aegon a fool, but he’s the only one they have to blame for this situation. Aegon didn’t want to be king, and now it has cost him his son. He has no interest in being a pawn anymore. Also bringing up Viserys’s neglectful ass in front of his kid is absolutely foul.
So regarding the dagger through the persons throat sat on The Iron Throne in the opening. Maegor the Cruel’s reign ended when he was found dead on The Iron Throne. He had a dagger through his throat and each of his wrists. The tapestry is of Targaryen history. Some parts of it are a part of The Dance of The Dragons (the civil war that the series focuses on) but some parts are from times before. 😊
Y do I feel more people r more upset with criston in this episode over daemon who literally had a child killed? It makes no sense to me. I get it Criston is a hypocrite having a hypocritical lifestyle with roid rage, but he is worse than a man who groomed his niece, a man who pre killed his first wife, a man who assaulted his wife after she lost her father and unborn daughter, and man who orchestrated the death of a toddler n nearly assaulted his wife again? Ive been saying this for the longest daemon and Otto r two side of the same coin. They are upset with their kings and queens because neither listen to them, they both want to be in control, and when they not in control they both over step. The only difference between them is that they use different tools to attack their enemies. Daemon uses the blade and otto has his tongue. Anyone else notice the parallel with rhaenyra calling out daemon manipulation in this episode like how Alicent confront Otto with his manipulation in episode 9. Looking forward to ur future videos guys btw.
This is set in a time where there is no such thing as grooming like please come with something better than that lmfao plus Cole around the same age as daemon so if he a groomer Cole is as well no? Being with rhaenyra and alicent knowing them since 14? If people don’t like Cole let them 🤣
This is the same argument as in GoT where Rhaegar being with Lyanna was wrong but Robert Baratheon another grown man lusting after a 14 year old was fine. Youre a hypocrite who isnt nearly as smart as you think you are.
Alt Shift X made a good spoiler-free breakdown of the intro sequence if you want to know more about what you are seeing. Its a lot of the past history Valyria and the Targaryens.
lol at people acting like alicent having sex is the biggest crime of the season. its kind of obvious her relationship w criston is about feeling some control or power over at least one aspect of her life. that dynamic will probably shift now that cristons hand and has more power than she does.
I think more people don't dislike the fact she is getting some it's the fact that she chooses to do so instead of being a good mother to her grieving children. She got her parenting style from Otto.
@@Lostmonster i mean its not like she was presented with the choices a) have sex or b) comfort aegon. she goes to aegon to (i assume) reprimand him for firing otto, sees him crying and struggles to comfort him (she has always struggled with showing aegon any love, even in s1). then she goes to her bedroom to find criston sitting there and then she takes the anger she has at herself out at him and then they have sex. thats just how the events unfolded, she didn't pick one over the other. her choice in that moment was reprimand aegon or comfort him and she chose neither, just as otto did. like you said, the cycle goes on and on... we see the same unfold with aegon and helaena who can't even speak to each other.
@@user-luciddream she struggles showing any of her kids love, that's why they are how they are. She doesn't comfort Aegon, she forces Helaena to suffer through a public event she doesnt want to attend, Aemond finds comfort in a brothel with a surrogate mother. She's a horrible mother just like Cersei and just like Cersei she will be the cause of all her children's deaths.
@@Lostmonster there are scenes where she comforts or tries to comfort aemond and helaena. in ep6 when aemond is bullied, she comforts him. in ep8, she hugs helaena after finding out aegon raped a maid. in ep9, she tries to comfort helaena after viserys death but she rejects her touch. in s2x02 during the funeral, she tries to comfort and calm helaena down. there aren’t any scenes where she reaches out to aegon in that way, in 2x02 she clearly wants to comfort him by the look on her face but she just can’t. shes bad at comforting all of them but shes especially terrible with aegon. i think trying to explore the psychology behind that beyond the simple “shes just a bad mother” explanation (which is correct but theres more to that) would make a way more interesting conversation. aemond reaching out to the brothel lady seems to be a recent development, the lady says “oh how you’ve grown” in ep9 which implies this is her first time seeing him in years. this is probably caused by alicent being disappointed with him after he murdered lucerys. hes no longer the golden child (alicent relies on him in ep9) compared to aegon the disappointment child. alicent also doesn’t want to do the funeral but she feels its her and helaenas duty as queens, i think maybe at some point during the season she will realise that duty is a bunch of BS and all her sacrifices and suffering were all for nothing. this will send her through a downward spiral.
They knew that Aemond would be targeted. What they didn't predict was Daemon going as low as having a little boy brutally murdered and have his head severed. Luke's death was a freak accident; Jaehaerys's death was a deliberate act of malice.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl right but Aemond is going around saying he killed Lucerys. They don't know its an accident bc that would make Aemond look weak as a dragonrider for not having full control over his dragon
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl If a bully is chasing a child down in a semi truck and they don't hit the brakes in time to stop from running them over. That's murder!
@@kylethompson3008 It's about intent. Aemond was trying to mess with Luke, but once the dragons started acting on their own, he's in a full blown panic. At best, Luke's death could be considered 1st degree manslaughter since Aemond, while setting up the disaster, didn't mean for him to get killed.
@TimberlakeTigerGirl In that case, since you're going by a court of law. It would depend on witnesses. The witnesses at Storms End would say after Luke left, Aemond immediately hopped on his dragon and chased him down, which resulted in his death. There are no witnesses to corroborate Aemonds testimony that it was an accident unless the dragon speaks up on his behalf. I don't see that happening. Aemond would be extremely lucky to catch only a manslaughter charge. In most cases, he would be found guilty of murder
The confetti that Helaena looks at represents the coming war and the ashes that will fall from the sky when everything burns. Same as the shot of Rhaenyra playing with her sons - the dust particles. Ash.
Daeron is Alicent & Viserys 3rd son. He wasn't the heir (Aegon) or the spare (Aemond) so he was sent to Oldtown to be with his uncle & probably be raised to maintain & strengthen his mother's house, Hightower.
since you guys are curious about the tapestry intro, alt shift x has been putting out episode analysis after each one premieres, and at the start of the first analysis he delves into detail on all the parts of the tapestry. essentially it’s just targaryen history leading through the conquest, different kings, before reaching the dance (which is unfinished as of right now). something cool to look into whenever you’re on a break or bored and have questions!!
I’m with you Pudgey. I really really love Alicent’s character, but going back to Criston is just plain out frustrating. I actually hate it from a writing standpoint (I don’t care if it’s in the book). And also agree with Spartan. Criston pisses me off the most.
Alicent was forced to have kids with Viserys, so she hasn't really been a mother to them. You can see how she can't comfort Aegon and how Aemond seeks motherly comfort from an older woman in a brothel. The show is an excellent dive into medieval vs modern ethics and the psychology they produce. People are bothered by bastards, while Jace, Luke and Joffrey were raised with love and attention by 3 parents. Meanwhile, Aegon and Aemond were ignored by both parents because the reason for their existence is to be succession spares. Otto thought he could make a person listen to him without building an actual relationship to him. And now, Aegon and Cole, the two stupidest people of the Greens are in charge. Good job Otto and Alicent!
Daeron is Viserys' youngest son. He's been warded at Oldtown since he was a young child so hasn't been involved thus far. This is the first direct mention of him (which imo was a mistake) but he was referenced in the opening sequence last season and Daemon included his dragon in the Green's count when he was tallying the dragons in ep10
I felt broken hearted for Aegon and Aemond this episode. Aemond reminded me so much of the Unsullied from GoT’s who would visit the brothel just to be held and feel a mother’s love. Aemond doesn’t go for the young hookers, he prefers the older motherly one because he’s never experienced that before. Seeing Alicent walk in on Aegon who was completely broken and utterly destroyed in that moment just to turn around and walk out without a word was so incredibly cruel. Despite being a staunch supporter of Team Black, I couldn’t help but feel for Alicent’s children. ***Daeron is Viscerys and Alicent’s youngest child. In the book he was raised in Kings Landing. This episode was another banger. The writing this season has been unbelievably brilliant.
I mean Otto was also responsible for putting rhaenyra on the throne too 😅. He hated Daemon so much that he paid people to spy on him and they heard the whole "heir for a day" speech that Daemon may or may not have even said (it's game of thrones and we didn't see it on camera). Either way he was the one that told Vyseris about it, which was what made him finally make rhaenyra his heir. All that to say, technically otto put both of them on the throne.
It's really interesting when you were wondering if Daeron might be Alicent's bastard. Canonically, he is Viserys's son, but given how hypocritical Alicent and Criston have been in doing exactly what they both hated Rhaenyra for doing it would be a great twist if Daeron Targaryen was actually Criston's son.
It would be interesting, but I don't think it lines up the shows timeline. If he's a cup bearer/squire he's probably between 9-15, and I honestly don't think Alicent and Cole has been hooking up for that long.
5:09 that is depicting balerion and vhagar burning down harrenhal during the conquest, the part which isnt shown where you mention sigils on shields is to show all the kings bowing down to aegon I. Then it depicts maegor the cruel being found dead in the iron throne (how he died is still somewhat of a mystery) "Whats he gonna do" well they did discuss it about 4 times this episode and in the last one 😂
When allicent was going into the tub and it kept showing both her and cole, one purpose was you can see the fires burning behind them as symbolism that the fire still is ignited between both of them despite him not going there in their with her.
Even if he didn't gaslight them, using a twin to infiltrate the enemies ranks is a good idea IF you have some time to recon and prep them vs show up when the other twin IS THERE
Tit for tat was Luke for Jaehaerys. Luke’s death started the war, not Jaehaerys. They were negotiating terms still, Luke was a peace envoy sent to Lord Baratheon with the terms and he was murdered by his own uncle. They broke guest right. They broke diplomacy laws. And Aemond committed the ultimate sin: kinslaying. It’s in the book: “And with his death, the war of ravens and envoys and marriage pacts came to an end, and the war of fire and blood began in earnest.” B&C happens after that. War was already declared. The greens are the enemies and Aegon is an usurper. Retaliation and going for the enemy’s heir is usual for the universe. In the book, Daemon writes to Rhaenyra he will avenge Lucerys. “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys shall be avenged.” Which is the response Alicent wanted for Aemond (even when it was self-defense and Luke was 4-5). Aemond himself kills Luke because he feels emasculated and Alicent also raised him to feel superior, even when Luke was ahead of him in line for the throne. He goes after him wanting his eye. Also, ir was said Maris Baratheon mocked him that Luke took his eye and his balls. Borros allowed him to go, breaking law too. Daemon is already at Harrenhal, so it’s Mysaria who arranges Blood & Cheese in the book. And you are right, Blood wouldn’t give away things so easily LMAO He is tortured. And the gold cloaks are loyal to Daemon, so is a lot of the city. They make Helaena choose between her two sons. She chooses the youngest so they killed the eldest and tell the young one “mama wants you dead”. Alicent was there too. Helaena goes mad after that. And she is not a dreamer, this was an invention by the show so they can use her to recite random spoilers to engage the audience who is aware of what happens. Not only she’s not a dreamer, dragon dreams do not work like that. They never show her dreaming even once. And she seems not to be fully aware of her visions otherwise she’d do something. Girl has a dragon, she could have fled with her kids. She supposedly knew the dance would happen back during Laena’s funeral. She had years to prepare. So this entire episode makes little sense to the actual book story. They call Rhaenyra s kinslayer, but they are no longer kin but traitors the moment they usurped her throne and killed her child. They also act as if wasn’t Aemond who killed Luke first. Aegon wanting tit for tat only restarts things, since they were even now. A son for a son. Also, Otto is now in Daemon’s shoes. He manipulated the king. Viserys sent away Daemon for someone unworthy that can’t be trusted (Otto). Otto used his position to usurp the throne for a grandson he could control. Then the grandson sends him away for someone unworthy. Cycle of life. PS: The book is not unreliable as to not know the facts straights. There’s a difference between unreliable narrators and fabrication of events. All the events, dates, etc are accurate. It’s a history book with research, witnesses, records. What is unreliable is how exaggerated some of the facts are, the biased of the narrators towards the greens/anti-Targaryen, Mushroom adding things up. B&C had plenty of witnesses. What we don’t know is what exact instructions Daemon gave to Mysaria, if the rest of the blacks were aware, etc.

She just didn't know why she was making it until it was too late...
very fun...
Someone also pointed out that she looked at his bed when she said "The rats." 😬

If you max the volume of that scene when she was making that shroud.
You can hear her saying "they only wants the boy".
She also says "they only want the boy" before Aegon inters her chambers.
Ah yes, the great Daeron, the unmentioned

Hell yeah Traveller 🤝
Rhys Ifans' acting as Otto in that one scene with Aegon was absolutely incredible. His character reminds me a lot of Tywin but with less control
His laugh at aegon cracked me up. He was great
@@exgardevior You obviously didn't listen to Tywin's story about his father who almost ruined House Lannister.
Ser Criston put on a masterclass in gaslighting. I feel bad for the twins.😭😔

"They're both dead, and these two are fucking." - One sentence synopsis of this episode.
I love how the fight between the twins kind of represents the war between the Greens and the Blacks but on a smaller scale. They were family who chose different sides. Their fight was messy and chaotic and in the end no one really won cause neither of them can live with the fact that they killed their own flesh and blood
There's no kind of lol you're exactly right. There can be no winners here
It was at this moment Otto knew he f*cked up
It was aegon who fucked up actually, this is were his downfall started
@sportsrocky I know, but I'm talking about Otto actually stealing Queen Rhaenyra throne and putting an incompetent on it. He thought it would be easy, but now half the realm has turned against him, and he lost the power he schemed for years to hold on to. He has no choice but to double down and fight on because they all committed treason, which is a death sentence

I like this version of the twins duel more than the book. The fact there is a decisive victor who simply can’t live with himself after slaying his brother really drives home the tragedy.
These twins are among of the very first characters GRRM created of dance era. They are both written among the legendary knights in history of westeros.
They adapted it very well
Daron, the 3rd son of Alicent , was sent as a cupbearer to Oldtown.

No sympathy. He only cares about his legacy & looking weak. He had his other kids in the fighting pit & he’s also a rapist lol
I think Alicent walked not only away because of her guilt but also because she never learned how to comfort herself or others. All she had growing up was her faith and her father. We see it in how she treats her kids - and herself.
It was hilarious watching Pudgey roll her eyes at Alicent and Cole’s foreplay. It was stupid and I think we all had that reaction. Lol!!!
You can see how Pudgey is invested in House Of The Dragon lmao, go girl give us content
r.i.p. arryk & erryk --- the twins were duty-bound, loyal and honorable, but in this show threats to one's honor can make you the puppet of scoundrels.
They should have chose love over duty
Daemon’s words weren’t vague. He said “A Son of a Son”, if Aemond couldn’t be found. Jaehaerys was the only other possible option fitting that description, as Daemon couldn’t realistically have expected Blood and Cheese to successfully go after the King, who has Kingsguard protection 24/7. Daemon is fully to blame, he specifically set up Jaehaerys as the backup revenge.
4:51 That is the Doom of Valyria. The massive apocalyptic event that whipped out the Targaryen's people the Valyrians and led to them coming to Westeros.

There is a reason Daemon is called The Rogue Prince and was George's Favorite Character in his stories. The producers have not learned the mistakes of AGOT season 5-8, they keep changing the plot, I will write a quote from Martin here
George Martin about film adaptations:
"Everywhere you look, there are writers and producers willing to take great stories and 'make them their own.' It doesn't seem to matter whether the source material is written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of a thousand they make it worse."
is it just me or does anyone else find it so endearing that Pudgey says her name like a question? "and I'm Pudgey?"
Spartan & Pudgey
here is some context without spoilers, don't worry, the show is not going to tell you, and you need to keep this in mind if you haven't read the books:
Daeron Targaryen is the fourth and last son of alicent and viserys.
he is almost the same age as jace (the difference is minimal, maybe a couple of months) and together with his other three brothers he is also a dragon rider. at the age of twelve he was sent to old town (where the Hightowers live and where the maesters are trained) to become the cupbearer and squire of Lord Hightower (Otto's brother) that is why daeron does not appear in the first big time jump where the adult versions of Alicent and Rhaenyra were shown for the first time (chapter six).
Extra 1- no spoilers, in game of thrones many things were omitted, but this is just an extra fact that broadens your perception of this world).
I don't know if you remember Margaery Tyrell, from game of thrones, well she descends from the Hightowers, her mother Alerie Tyrell who didn't appear in the show is the daughter of the Hightower lord of her time, which would make Alicent her great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-aunt (give or take a few "greats")
Extra 2- from oldest to youngest of Alicent's children without spolier of their destiny obviously. much of this data should already know, but the show for lack of time did not do it and will not do it:
"Aegon II" - Ride sunfire ( his dragon described as the most beautiful dragon that ever existed that's why the green shield and aegon's clothes have a golden dragon).
"Helaena" - Ride a dream fire (the dragon that appears in chapter six, just after aemond had bothered him with the pig. Helaena claimed him at the age of eleven, most of the dragons descend from her brood, they say she is the mother of dany's dragons from game of thrones).
"Aemond" - Ride Vaghar
"Daeron" - rides Tessarion "the blue queen".
Pd: they are going to love daeron, along with Helaena they are the best of team Green.
In a new interview the actors said dany dragons come from syrax, i think we will see it in next episodes
Yeah that was textbook projection from Criston Cole. He is so full of guilt and self hate that he was talking to himself but looking at Arrik.
I dont know why but when pudgey says "he literally just sliced" 11:43 makes me laugh so hard
alicent likely walked away as she came to manipulate aegon and saw him crying and wasn't able to do so and left off.
Rhys acting is incredible in this episode.
While Rhaenyra comforted her son, Alycent just walked away to have se*..
Lmao completely agree Pudgey, Team Green is completely in the Bin after this episode especially🤣 Let’s go Team Black!! 😅
🤣🙌🏼
Alt Shift X made a good spoiler-free breakdown of the intro sequence if you want to know more about what you are seeing. Its a lot of the past history Valyria and the Targaryens.
Rhys Ifans was great in this episode
lol at people acting like alicent having sex is the biggest crime of the season. its kind of obvious her relationship w criston is about feeling some control or power over at least one aspect of her life. that dynamic will probably shift now that cristons hand and has more power than she does.
I think more people don't dislike the fact she is getting some it's the fact that she chooses to do so instead of being a good mother to her grieving children. She got her parenting style from Otto.
The self righteous hypocrisy is what people have a problem with
@@Lostmonster i mean its not like she was presented with the choices a) have sex or b) comfort aegon. she goes to aegon to (i assume) reprimand him for firing otto, sees him crying and struggles to comfort him (she has always struggled with showing aegon any love, even in s1). then she goes to her bedroom to find criston sitting there and then she takes the anger she has at herself out at him and then they have sex. thats just how the events unfolded, she didn't pick one over the other. her choice in that moment was reprimand aegon or comfort him and she chose neither, just as otto did. like you said, the cycle goes on and on... we see the same unfold with aegon and helaena who can't even speak to each other.
"I DECLARE WAR" sir the war started when your brother killed Lucerys BFFR. There's no way TG thought TB would not retaliate and just sit back
They knew that Aemond would be targeted.
I hate Criston and not the hot twins! 😭😭😭😭😭
I’m with you Pudgey. I really really love Alicent’s character, but going back to Criston is just plain out frustrating. I actually hate it from a writing standpoint (I don’t care if it’s in the book). And also agree with Spartan. Criston pisses me off the most.
Valyria is the model not Kings Landing, it's actually showing how he destrois everything his father build, it's methaphoric
Dont forget alicent doesnt trust and of the staff larys chose hence why she does everything alone.
CRISPIN IS PROJECTINNNGG😂
Then it depicts maegor the cruel being found dead in the iron throne (how he died is still somewhat of a mystery)
"Whats he gonna do" well they did discuss it about 4 times this episode and in the last one 😂
It’s in the book: “And with his death, the war of ravens and envoys and marriage pacts came to an end, and the war of fire and blood began in earnest.”
B&C happens after that.
And now the actor of criston cole, fabien is being harassed and insulted on the internet.
that's so ridiculous
Cole deserves it
@@DavidCarradinesBeltHe is not Cole. Cole is not real.
thank the show writers, they demonized his character beyond belief.... he is not a cartoon villain like the show depicts him
@@whatisreddin7367 Why would we blame the show writers for idiot fans that can't separate an actor from the character they are told to portray? What kind of nonsense logic is that?
