This just shows that neither one of Alicents sons are fit to be king. This is really viserys fault. The realm would have assumed loyalty or at least most of it had he named rhyneara heir earlier in her youth. He was more involved in her childhood. By the time he had these boys he was burned out and sick. With this he was not as attentive and so they are broken.
He did name her fairly early on AND had all the lords come swear to uphold her claim but there were always going to be a not-insignificant number of lords who just don't want a ruling queen. Even if Viserys never had sons with another woman, at least some amount of lords still would have ignored that he wanted Rhaenyra as his heir and would have supported Daemon just because he wasn't a woman.
I agree completely, but the Hightowers should take responsibility as well. Corlys told Viserys "A wise man must either sail through the storm or around it but must never await it's coming". He knew what Otto was doing with his daughter and the fight for power but he ignored it in hopes it would just go away. At first, Rhaenyra didnt want to be queen, she just wanted her father's love and approval. You can read it on her face during the ceremony on 1x1. The greens made sure to push their family insecurity onto their kids. Ensuring that they would never have a bond with their older sister. In fact, their father figure was Ser Cristian Cole. Which makes sense why Aegon just made him the hand. He probably trusts him more than anyone. What a mess lol. Even Otto regrets all of it now. I wouldnt be surprised if he switches sides.
@@Kidapollo92 It was as concrete as Viserys could make it- he named Rhaenyra as his heir, had lords swear to defend her claim to the throne, named her Princess of Dragonstone which was the traditional title held by the king's heir, etc. In the books, it's said he was overheard telling Jac that one day the throne would be his. In the show, even in open court the day before he died, Corlys' brother openly acknowledged that Rhaenyra was his heir. Wills didn't seem to be a thing in Westeros (at least not for the Iron Throne) at the time, but then again the will would probably have been in possession of the greens who could have just destroyed it so maybe he did have one (in the books they left Viserys' body rotting in his room for like 11 days so they could gather their forces and catch Rhaenyra off-guard)
You're letting Alicent off too lightly here. She should have spent more time with her kids. It's clear they haven't been loved much in their life. Rhaenyra's boys turned out just fine.
Daemon is Aemond's inspiration, he's sort of based his identity off of him. Hes kinda thrilled Daemon would send assassins after him cause deep down he's a fanboy.
Ser Crispin Cole needs to give a TED talk on how to fail upwards… Murdered Jeoffery at a wedding and was promoted to Queen Alicent’s sworn protector… murdered a member of the small council at a small council meeting and drew his sword at Ser Westerling and was then promoted to lord commander…. allowed the heir to the throne to be murdered on his watch coz he was doinking the dowager queen and now he’s been promoted to Hand of the King…. It’s actually impressive
Otto is a lot of things, but stupid is nawt one of them. He got Alicent to be the Queen and Aegon as the King. I could feel his frustration from seeing his plans just get destroyed
@@GewalfofWivia there's no way he would've backed Daemon and he didn't know about Aegon's bastards, not that he'd ever allow a bastard on the throne. If anything, he MIGHT have backed Aemond for the throne, but that's it.
Nah, he would still back up aegon. He just though he's gonna be able to manupilate him the same way he did with viserys. Aemond wouldnt be king unless they kill aegon which obviously would never happen
The one and only time I'll ever feel bad for Otto. Rhys acted the hell out of his scenes in this episode. The sheer dread as he realizes he made the biggest mistake in putting Aegon on the throne is the most hilarious moment. Also I agreed with both Rhaenrya and Daemon in their fight but I lean more toward Daemon honestly, Rhaenrya is repeating the same mistakes that Viserys made by being to slow to act or simply refusing to, it will get her killed. Not saying what Daemon did was right or smart but she did marry him for this precise purpose, to be her attack dog, to be the sword standing by her so that people would be too afraid of crossing her for fear of his wrath. He shouldn't have gone after a kid and he should have consulted with her about it first so I heavily disagree with him on that part. Also it's important to note that Rhaenrya and Daemon sleep in the same room and share the bed, so if it hadn't been for their fight, he would have been in the room with her when Arryk came in and would have been the one to kill him instead of his brother, Cole's plan was full of holes from the beginning.
This episode was just amazing, we had so many great moment, from a hilarious scenes with deamon to the heart breaking moment with the Time, but the best moment was with otto he was cold cold
Otto: this is not the time for blind accusations Lupa: this is the perfect time for blind accusations Me in sherif woody voice: I’m lost!! Andy is gone! They’re gonna move their house in two days and it’s all your fault!!!
Funny thing is, Aemond is an anagram for Daemon. The characters are literally mirrors of each other. Both being the brothers of kings, being good swordsmen and having dragon sized chips on their shoulders, being rash and impetuous but also excellent strategists - there’s a lot in common
To me, i think she's sending Baeyla to watch Kings landing cause she knows the men in that family cant keep their heads straight and do what they are told. Lol.
She is sending Baela because there is no other option. There are only 5 dragon riders on her side: Herself, Daemon, Jace, Rhaenys and Baela. Daemon is gone to Harrenhall to get the riverlands in line, Rhaenys can't be wasted on scouting duty and she needs to keep patrolling as a show of strength, Jace is the heir and too important to risk. Baela is the only option.
The problem, and the reason why his plan was so shit, is because even if it worked it would have achieved nothing. Rhaenyra's claim would have passed down to her children, her side would continue supporting them as they support them now, Daemon and the Velaryons would remain against them and total war would become inevitable before the Greens were finished gathering all the support they could. Right now, the Greens successfully cast a lot of mud at Rhaenyra's name and would have been able to use it to gain a lot of neutral houses to their side, bolstering their numbers and support. They just need time. Time they wouldn't have if Rhaeynra was assassinated, with a kingsguard being used as a cheap assassin, and total war started. This plan was a joke because even if it worked, it would only harm the greens. Cole did this not because it was good for the crown, but because he was a petty bastard who is still blaming a drunk teenager that he fucked as a grown man 20 years prior.
Also Kinslaying is one of the biggest Taboo's in Westeros, it's heavily looked down upon so Erryk not only killed himself over the pain of killing his own Brother but also over the fact that he dishonored his cloak and his Queen in doing so, that's why he apologized to her afterward.
11:32 Aegon loves helaena as a brother ONLY, he was forced to marry her for duty as a targareyn tradition, both did. that scene shows how they're incapable of expressing their feelings and their pain. Helaena seeks his love and attention and he doesn't know how to give her that.
This is probably the best episode of the show and a top 5 even when compared to GOT. The scene carried by INCREDIBLE acting in the single episode is actually insane.

@@DavidCarradinesBelt she has clear symptoms of someone on the spectrum, I’m not a doctor so I can’t be sure but I am on the spectrum also prophesy, visions and precognitive warnings are a through line through this series, GOT and the books, magic and mystical elements are not anything new in this universe, so I don’t think they’d talk to Helaena the way they do or act the way they do when she speaks or does anything if she had unique abilities, she does seem very not there, they treat her as a nuisance, the look at her as if she’s crazy and she does have traits of someone on the spectrum, I have similar traits myself
Damn Cole became the hand in the day, and then had his hand in the kings mom later at night lol
@@vadalia3860 I just wish there was a way to make it concrete. You know like a will. They believed in wills back then right?
Cole: You sully our ancient honor?
Gods: 🤨
The fact that this and the boys are out at the same time is going to responsible for millions going to therapy 😂😂😂
8:29 "the two-piece??" is exactly what i said 🤣daemon got too much aura
Daemon is Aemond's inspiration, he's sort of based his identity off of him. Hes kinda thrilled Daemon would send assassins after him cause deep down he's a fanboy.
Otto was a few reasons from sailing to dragonstone and serving Rhaenyra
Otto's slow turnaround(20:26) deserves an Emmy
r.i.p. arryk & erryk --- both twins were duty-bound, loyal and honorable, but in this show threats to one's honor can make you a puppet of pranksters!
Ser Crispin Cole needs to give a TED talk on how to fail upwards…
Murdered Jeoffery at a wedding and was promoted to Queen Alicent’s sworn protector… murdered a member of the small council at a small council meeting and drew his sword at Ser Westerling and was then promoted to lord commander…. allowed the heir to the throne to be murdered on his watch coz he was doinking the dowager queen and now he’s been promoted to Hand of the King…. It’s actually impressive
Otto is a lot of things, but stupid is nawt one of them. He got Alicent to be the Queen and Aegon as the King. I could feel his frustration from seeing his plans just get destroyed
Aemond is literally Daemon with the "D" at the back. They really are the same person.
Aegon to Cole: YOU HAVE BEEN PROMOTED! 😂 YOU ARE NOW ONE OF MY ELITE EMPLOYEEES!😂
😲😲
20:27 That pause you take when you have to brace yourself for the stupidity of the answer before you even ask the question 🤣
“Let me take my bento.” 😂
Otto realizing in real time he should've just backed Rhaynera had me dying, he was so over all this shit lmao
Not Rhaynera, he should’ve just backed Daemon or even Aegon’s infant son for the throne and got rid of Aegon in the slums.
@@GewalfofWivia Daemon would never have worked out though bc Viserys didn't trust him from the "King for a Day" moment
@@GewalfofWivia there's no way he would've backed Daemon and he didn't know about Aegon's bastards, not that he'd ever allow a bastard on the throne. If anything, he MIGHT have backed Aemond for the throne, but that's it.
@@jfjvmdvbdcndkj actually, my bad, I meant to say Aemond 🥲 You get the idea
Nah, he would still back up aegon. He just though he's gonna be able to manupilate him the same way he did with viserys. Aemond wouldnt be king unless they kill aegon which obviously would never happen
Man Otto is actually the sanest on the green side of the war... what a time to be alive lmao!
Otto is tf sick of the Greens 😂
I’m glad we all thought Jaeherys’s head was gonna fall had me stressed 😭😭
This episode was just amazing, we had so many great moment, from a hilarious scenes with deamon to the heart breaking moment with the Time, but the best moment was with otto he was cold cold
Otto after hearing about the "prank": Welp, dragons incoming. I'm out! 🏃
Dwl 😂😅
Called em an Insulent Pup, Otto was cooking that entire scene!!!😂😂
i been fiending for this reaction to the grandson and grandpap talks 😭 aegon an emotional ahh crashout
Sheera's hair is so pretty
Just realized the blacksmith guy at 14:40 is Kieran Bew. The same actor who played the main cop in the tv show "Warrior."
"How was i supposed to know there would be consequences for my actions" Otto probably 😂
This episode cooked dialogue wise for me
Otto: this is not the time for blind accusations
Lupa: this is the perfect time for blind accusations
Me in sherif woody voice: I’m lost!! Andy is gone! They’re gonna move their house in two days and it’s all your fault!!!

18:50 that was seasmoke a dragon without rider, guess now !
Funny thing is, Aemond is an anagram for Daemon. The characters are literally mirrors of each other. Both being the brothers of kings, being good swordsmen and having dragon sized chips on their shoulders, being rash and impetuous but also excellent strategists - there’s a lot in common
15:38 the guy alyn here also presented his game at the game awards which he made in honor of his father!
To me, i think she's sending Baeyla to watch Kings landing cause she knows the men in that family cant keep their heads straight and do what they are told. Lol.
Also Jace is emotional and clearly has a temper so he's more likely to go rouge then Bela .
She is sending Baela because there is no other option. There are only 5 dragon riders on her side: Herself, Daemon, Jace, Rhaenys and Baela.
Daemon is gone to Harrenhall to get the riverlands in line,
Rhaenys can't be wasted on scouting duty and she needs to keep patrolling as a show of strength,
Jace is the heir and too important to risk.
Baela is the only option.
Tom Glynn-Carney really good acting Aegon, masterpiece❤
Otto going off on aegon was incredibly satisfying and long overdue.
Imagining Otto saying “I gotta get out of here, you niggas is wild” in his head at the end of that scene is my new head cannon.
They really played around with that little child body bro. I thought his head gonna fall off 😭🤣
This was an amazing episode, the deep character insights of the script and the drama of amazing acting, S tier!
The clown christon Cole 🤣🤣
The twin fight broke my fuckin heart dawg
21:50 To me, this is the equivalent of Homelander making The Deep the head of Crime Analytics
Otto Hightower reminiscing how good he got it with an indecisive but peaceful king like Viserys 😂
"Mam go take your bath" 😂😂😂😂. Lupa is wild!
You can call Cole and idiot but that shit actually almost worked.
If it worked it wouldn't have ended there. Rhaenys and Daemon would go absolute maniac on the hightowers.
@@rui7922 That's true, Daemon probably would. But I think the Greens would win in that scenario unless Cregan Stark actually decides to help.
“GIMME YOUR RINNGGGG” the RDC reference flew over so many people’s heads 🤣🤣🤣
Im new to this channel, and i have to say I LOVE the intro. So beautiful
