I read "Bound For Glory" as a teenager. I followed Woody and Pete Seeger and Dylan all my life. But I never had the appreciation for Bruce Springsteen until I read his book and realized his connection to Woody. I am incredibly impressed and have a new connection to "The Boss" beyond my usual respect and admiration.

The author knew and worked with the character who ran the government camps sheltering the migrant workers. She knew Steinbeck. He published first, so she didn’t bother publishing her work. Whose Names Are Unknown, in particular, is a good read.

The Ghost of Tom Joad is one of the best songs he's ever written. I'd put it in the top 5. Pure perfection. I wouldn't change one lyric. And the melody suits the lyrics beautifully. And it is meaningful, as far as the message. I don't know what else to say. Just perfect.
