We had a dog who recovered from a double ACL injury. She couldn't use her back legs at all. The Veterinarian wanted us to do one of two surgeries - 'fishline' surgery for $3500 or all out surgery for $7k. We said no - we can't do that. So she suggested Omega 3 high dose and Glucosamine along with acetaminophen I believe (I could be wrong on that). We also switched her food up to more natural salmon based without fillers. Anyway - she healed! 75 pound dog. Ran and walked again! We used a large cut out Ikea bag to help her go in and out for the bathroom 🙂
@@susanromanov7893 yes it could have been that. It was about a decade ago and I don't totally remember. I just know she couldn't walk for a couple months, but we gave what the Vet suggested and worked with her to full recovery for very little cost.
@@Sharone123 reassuring reading this, my dog went paralysed from the rear at one point she couldn't even wag her tail, the vet hardly gave any information apart from the price of a scan & surgery..I've basically been doing what I can by reading & watching videos online. About 2 months on nearly she's able to walk, wag her tail etc..but muscles are weak at her rear, she can't get up the stairs yet..I'm going to another vet outside of town to see if I can get better help later this week for her..I'm having to express her bladder but she has got feeling back as she let's me know she needs to go...its been tough as you well know but reading your comment has made me feel more positive! So glad your dog made a recovery.
At the start of the month my dog tore 1 ACL and we began this regime sadly 2.5 weeks later she tore the other so now we're trying to rehab bilaterally. Discussed our plan with our Vet yesterday. He's never seen anyone rehab a dog with bilateral tears but he believes in my plan. Our addition to this is a wheelchair she can slowly start reusing her legs. Wish us luck!
@@aniasanzhar1693 She's doing great! She's walking so much better and occasionally jumps again. We made her a wheelchair that carried the weight from her back legs but still had her using the muscles.
So glad to hear!! 🙏🏼 my dog ruptures hers too and we were told she needs a surgery as she is only 4y.o. and a very bouncy active spaniel. But I am just wondering if we can avoid the surgery, even though results are pretty good after recovery..
@@aniasanzhar1693 good luck. I discussed the plan with our Vet and he said he'd never seen a dog rehabbed without surgery that had injured both but it wasn't impossible. We booked a follow up for 2 months down the track to see how she was going. We had that a couple of weeks ago and he was impressed. He did say she's gained stability in the joints by building scarring and arthritic tissue but she's doing well.
@juliadrew7562 Hi there firstly I'm so sorry to hear the situation you found yourself in !! if its not too much trouble any update and any additional information you have would be very very much appreciated❤ even what worked well/what didnt work,, hope all is well bless up
My 45 lb dog had a partial ACL tear which healed without surgery, we did acupuncture, anti inflammatory meds, ASSISI loop therapy, ice & restricted activity. I’m happy to say she completely healed & is back to running like nothing ever happened!
My Rottweiler had rest, massage by me several times a day, physiotherapy and after a while hydrotherapy, under the care of a dog physio. She never had surgery and recovered
This is encouraging. My rottie/shep mix is 130lbs and has a partially torn ACL. right now we are doing lazer, acupunture and pain meds. Low activity. I will look into the physiotherapy as well. Thank you!
My dog had legitimate back leg surgery almost a year ago, my vet didn’t even show me what all you just shared with us Thank you! I wish you were my vet 💜💙💜💙💜💙
My vet today told me my dog needs surgery and does not need painkillers or leg brace if I don't want surgery. Just ordered all the supplements this doc advised and leg brace.
@@redrumax its bc they want your money! No pain meds is just plain cruel. I healed my dog with a custom made brace from a company called "Posh Brace". They are expensive. But not surgery cost expensive If they do not do the surgery correctly, your dog will have to go through a revison. Which is another 6K! So 12K in total possibily. Seriously, dont listen to the vet
@@shannonl5159 Thank you. Just ordered a brace from Amazon and chondroitine, glucosamine and turmeric. She already puts her foot down but is unbalanced, this did not deter her from barking at 2 pitbulls outside the park and running to the fence for that. I am keeping her on a lead now and using a doggie pram to the park:)). Pink, like her harness. People probably think I am mad, but I don't care. She is the most important:)
@@shannonl5159 and my vet did surgey for torn ACL for a neighbour's small white curly dog, same size as mine, don't know the breed, and I saw her knee is unbalanced when she walks and gives way... her owner did not notice but I been watching carefully since I am weary of bone and joints surgery which I know is bad.
You are giving so much truth in a world with so much motivation by money and greed. Thank you for providing honest and real advice for everyone who cares about their pets. Our dog is doing so well wirh Posh braces, she is unstoppable and they have been a total game changer after years of trying everything else. Highly recommend a good custom fitted brace used with leash and controlled exercise, massage, raw diet, good supplements, CBD and golden turmeric paste. You are helping so many people with your videos. Cannot thank you enough.
43 years ago I tore my Achilles tendon and never had surgery, my leg was immobilised for 10 weeks followed by physio and haven't had a problem since so I fully believe that using a good knee brace will allow my dogs CCL injury to heal without surgery.
This happened to my dog approximately one year ago. I’m happy to say she is looking great now. She still has some days where she over does it and limps a little bit later on that day. She is a 35 pound dog. If this happens to your dog I recommend going to the vet a soon as possible to get the drawer test done and make sure it’s not a break. Then follow the steps provided in this video. I did not get my dog a brace. My vet told me that there was no way she would recover without surgery. She is definitely on the road to success now. So don’t just run out and spend the 5-7k on a surgery. My dog was 9 years old when this happened. Just know that it will take a lot of time and dedication from you to get your dog on the road to success.
Can you please share how you succeeded with your dog? My beagle is 15 years young looking and behaving like 5, there is no way I would put him through a surgery now. I am confident he can fully recover (half torn).
@@howdoesitgetbetter your best chance is to keep your dog on a leash when going outside. Keep your dog in a crate when your not home. Put a do not knock sign on your front door. Try to keep your dog from trying to run around. Do not let your dog jump around. At the beginning when it first happens and the knee is swollen put ice on it often. After the swelling goes away I would use heat on the knee. Go on short walks for awhile. I slowly started to increase the walks. If my dog limped after the walk I would know I over did the walk. Feed a lot of salmon oil and turmeric. Also get your dog on supplements. Glucosamine is really good. Do the stretches in the video with your dog. When you start to see improvement with the dogs movement I slowly started to walk her up and down hills. If you are home with your dog just try to keep them resting. Try to do a lot of short walks throughout the day. Like 4, five or 10 minute walks. It’s been about a year and a half since my dog had a full tear. I now run with he on her walks. She isn’t perfect but I would say she is about 90% better. I’m still walks up hills which really helps. Just take it slow. I hope I helped and best of luck to your dog. Oh one last thing is try to keep your dog thin. The less weight on your dog the better. Cut the food back a bit.
The cruel trick is when they tear BOTH of their ACL/CCLs, as mine did a couple years ago just jumping up too high for a ball and landing awkwardly. It really helps to have at least one good leg to stand on back there, just for them to get around and to prevent total muscle atrophy in the back end, resulting in paralysis. Let's just say that 2022 was a very tough year for my dog, Abby, and I. Couldn't afford the TPLO surgeries and opted for the natural/holistic route. It was a very grueling year of carrying that 80-lb pitbull in and out, up and down steps several times a day to go potty and get fresh air, having to get diapers for her (total incontinence). Having to express her bladder each time out, as well as her bowels on many occasions. I did accupressure therapy, red light therapy, physical therapy, I built her a doggy wheelchair that she was never able to use, I altered her diet to a mostly raw/home-cooked diet containing zero carbs.....just muscle meat, organ meat, bone, SOME fruits/veggies, as well as fish oil, curcumin, boswelia, etc. I tried everything that I could find on the internet to help her. I think I may have had more success had she not injured her shoulders trying to slide off my bed to come after me when I stepped outside. All I heard was her slam onto the hard floor and her shoulders were never the same. Ever since she did that, her shoulder muscles were constantly tight and seized up and she had painful spasms that made laying down comfortably next to impossible. Her vet prescribed me Carprofin (NSAID) and Gabapentin. Since she was having to use her front legs to drag herself around, her shoulders really never got a chance to heal and I was never able to get her off of her NSAID meds, that was about the only thing keeping her pain level down. As a result of being on her NSAID pain relievers for so long (6-months), her kidneys began to suffer. She drank a lot of water, as well as me adding extra fluid to her meals, but she was still extremely, chronically dehydrated. She urinated way more than normal, her urine was dark yellow (despite all the fluids she was taking in) and EXTREMELY foul smelling. I learned how to make my own sub-q fluids at home, bought large syringes and needles from Tractor Supply and was giving her sub-q fluid injections 3-4 times a day to help with her chronic dehydration. One early morning, I took her out to go potty, still dark out, and shined my light on her to see that her right eye was not illuminated in the light, although they were both illuminated the previous evening. I did some tests and sure enough, she went blind in that eye, just overnight! So, that was the next stage of her kidney failure. From that point on, she had an even tougher time getting around and wound up falling off my bed a couple times, which scared the living CRAP out of me. I built a railing system around my bed and piled all the pillows, couch cushions and clothing that I could find around the bed, just in case she fell off again. Since I was cleaning her after every potty and bathing her every night, as well as her having at least 1-2 accidents in her diaper every day, I was having to wash diapers, towels and bedding every single day. I was not able to work very much, because I had to stay home to take care of her, THAT was my sole priority in 2022, so my financials definitely suffered. Once she went blind, I noticed her well-being rapidly deteriorate, she became pretty depressed and any optimism I had for her recovery went out the window, so I had to make that excruciating decision at that time to take her in for that last visit on 10/19/2022. By far, the hardest year of my life and having her euthanized was the single hardest thing I've ever had to do. I've had lots of other dogs, but she was the one that I've bonded with the most, she held me up through some of the darkest periods of my life and I'm eternally grateful to her and to God for allowing me the 8 years that I had with her. She taught me so much about giving/receiving absolute unconditional love and she taught me a lot about myself as well, just how much I'm willing to do for someone I really love and care about. Anyway, that was my experience with dual-torn CCLs. If I can offer any tips to anyone else going through that, it would be this. Do not let them just lay around too long early on, you have to not only do range of motion exercises, but you have to find a way to work their muscles (without complicating the healing process), so that their muscles back there don't atrophy to the point that the damage becomes irreversible. Also, make sure that their environment is secure so that they can't hurt themselves even further, because the goal is to get them OFF of those NSAID pain meds as soon as possible, before they begin to effect their liver and kidneys, because that's just a different can of worms that you really don't want any part of, trust me.
OMG! YOU WENT THROUGH A LOT! I dread the day my boy has to go!😂. But you sure did a lot for ur dog and I commend you for that!! I’d do the same. At least as much as I’m capable of doing. Anyway, my condolences go out to you for all you did for ur dog and then having him/her have to be put down! I don’t think I could handle that !! It’s apparent how much we love our pets. Even more so than our fellow humans (at least for me). I’d do more for mine than any human I know! It’s a shame that companies and some vets take advantage of that love! Thank God for people/Vets like Dr. Jones! We REALLY APPRECIATE A GOOD HEARTED HUMAN LIKE YOU DR. JONES!!!
@@artest7, I completely agree with your entire 2nd paragraph. I too, tend to relate better with dogs than most other people and would go to the ends of the earth to help them any way I can. Abby's passing was the most devastating thing that I've ever had to go through, it took me a long time to cope with that loss. I was much closer to her than I think I've ever been to any human. She was surely the best friend I've ever had. It's been a year and a half now and I am so much better now. I still talk to her at least once a day, but I am perfectly fine now. Time definitely does heal the pain, although we never forget and I do still shed a tear for her every now and then, but I'm so much better now at this point.
@@lonewolfsurvival3453 yes. I can empathize with you! I’ve literally spent 24/7 (since I’m not working) with my black lab, Kiko and we’ve grown so close. I have two pitties, each with a CCL tear. We're doing the conservative method, and both are responding well. Dogs have been tearing this ligament since they've been on the earth, and I think people forget that. There are so many new "non surgical" techniques to help them heal. ❤️❤️
@Rae Raelラエ・ラエル I leash walked them, had a sling that goes under their bellies, and supports their backend for when we would go up and down hills. I also had them on CBD oil and carprofen. I also iced the knee, with frozen corn, twice a day for 5-10 minutes. I did the ice for about 3 weeks. Now, it's just maintenance. I leash walk them in the morning, because they're usually wild and will chase something 🤣. If they seem a little stiff in the a.m. or p.m. I'll give them carprofen.
just comment jacking to remind people to buy ramps for their pets with CCL tear. car ramp, ramp for the front steps, block off steps to upstairs. I'm 100% certain these things can delay and can setbacks for your animals progress.
First off, pitties aren't a natural dog. They were made by humans crossbreeding them. They are prone to injury because of an anatomy issue caused by us, not nature. Dogs haven't lived by themselves for thousands of years. Ur comment is ridiculous at best.
So sorry to hear you and your dog are going through this. Hope you find a solution that you are comfortable with. One of the things Dr Jones said is that it takes a while to heal. I restricted my dog’s activity drastically and it took almost 12 weeks. Our vet supplied a month’s worth of anti inflammatory medication. I wish you the best.
Thank you so much for this information. My 10 lb older dog just had an acl injury. He has a heart murmur so surgery seems like a scary option. I was left feeling like I had no options. This gives me hope.
I'm dealing with similar issues. My 18lb 8 year old doggie just got told yesterday when we took him for his limping that he has ccl rupture and heart murmur. The vet gave me anti-inflammatory med but only for 10 days then said if not better surgery. Everything on the internet says they need 6 weeks to try to heal before thinking about surgery. I don't know why they are only giving us 10 days. They didn't tell me about exercises or anything just told me not to let him jump which is hard so I bought a small pen to keep him in for now.
@@mandy1927when your dog ruptured their ccl was it visibly inflamed? my dog hasn’t been seen yet, but there is no inflammation just lameness in foot, not putting any pressure at all after 2 days so far
Check out My Pets Brace. They make custom braces for animals. My lab had a “full blown ACL tear according to the vet. I found MY PETS BRACE and chose to go this route instead of the very invasive surgery. Maya has worn the brace for over two months and we have seen incredible improvement. She doesn’t limp or lift her injured leg anymore. She will wear it for an additional four months so she can completely heal and so she doesn’t injure again it. She only wears it during waking hours. We take it off at night while she is sleeping.

Our 60lb, 3 yo, pup had an ACL tear. In lieu of surgery we opted for laser treatment and acupuncture. It took 5 treatments of each, but she's okay now! She was amazing because she self-limited her movement and gave herself time to heal. We have 6 dogs and to watch what dogs are able to do on their own, when allowed, is incredible. EDIT: We give her curcumin (w/bioperine) daily, MSM, Vit C, Vit D3 w K2, and Dr Jones krill oil. We have also found hyaluronic acid to be an asset with most joint issues. Thanks to Dr Jones we are able to care for 6 wonderful dogs and have a little money left over for toys and healthy treats!!

@@daniellezadora7637 was the other back leg tear a result of the previous, first leg tear? or was it just an injury on its own nothing to do with the leg that had surgery?
It happened to my precious, beloved Australian Shepherd, and with only one laser treatment she was healed. She never had a problem with her ACL again. I miss her so much! ❤😪🐕🐾
@@tonirae72 My Vet at that time recommended it. He said she would need a few laser treatments to her ACL area to see how she would respond to them, but after the very first treatment she was healed. She was laid on the floor relaxed, and the Vet assistant took what looked like a gun but had laser rays that came out. She messaged the ACL area with the laser ray for about a good twenty minutes. I was told she had to return for more treatments, but that first treatment did the trick. No more limping or problems with her ACL. This of course was about 15 years ago.
@@msmintjuleps I don't remember that it had a name, just laser treatment for a dog's ACL. It was like a laser gun that emitted a warm red light, and it is massaged in the area where the dog's ACL is while the dog is laying on the floor relaxed. Our first and only session for my dog lasted about 25 mins. The doctor told me I would have to return for more sessions, but that first session really worked, and she had no more ACL problems. Good luck!
Are these exercises and therapy only for partial tear injuries? If the ACL is completely severed in two, then surgery is the only real option, correct? Therapy without surgery cannot mend a completely separated ACL, correct? Been seeing a lot of conflicting info.

I believe the braces work better for small dogs. The brace didn’t work for our 90 lbs dog and this leg has significantly more arthritis now because we waited to get tplo. His other leg we decided on tplo at the first sign of cruciate injury and that leg is much more stable. Sometimes the best thing you can do is get it repaired immediately.
This is a very good video. My old dog tore his ACL and went through the suture surgery and it didn't work. He had to have a second surgery to remove the sutures. I ordered the same brace you showed (Ortho Dog) and that saved his leg. A few weeks later, he tore the other ACL and we used Orthodog knee brace again. Now I have a Chihuahua and Ortho Dog does not make braces that small. I've tried others but had to return them. Could you recommend a good knee brace for a Chihuahua? I'm desperate here trying to help her. Thx
As a human physical therapist, i have been using ACL protocols on my dog as I would use on humans. This is very similar and i have seen improvements on my fur baby. May have to go into sx however, but hoping for faster recovery from the pre-sx treatments.

Hi. Yesterday I began fostering a 1 yr old average sized female doberman. She ran & played A LOT yesterday, & showed stiffness last night, limping this mornings & by late morning she's keeping her right back leg in the air. BUT NO ACUTE INJURY symptoms. I have no idea when she injured it. Previous foster says no limping. When I saw the leg in air, I immediately brought her in & put her in the crate & gave her leftover Carprofen from her spay surgery. I have enough for 7 days.
Thank you for this video. My little 5lb Chihuahua has a back leg injury which I think is an ACL related injury. I'm trying to avoid a surgery. He doesn't show any sign at all that he is in pain. He just holds his back leg up and goes about his day. I'm going to ice his leg, give him some anti inflammatory meds and try R.O.M on him. really hoping this helps..... 🙏

My dog had the tplo surgery a year ago. He blew it again. I for one can’t keep paying 4K every time he gets injured. We shall see how this goes for him.
Hi Lorraine how long did it take your dog to heal with glucosamine? Did you do anything else? I have a very active Jack Russell too he suddenly started to limp . The vet put him on anti inflammatory meds but reading the side effects I decided to hold it first and try natural healing first .I appreciate if you can tell me how you handled the situation
Hi Dr. Andrew, Can you recommend a knee brace for a smaller dog? My Bichon Frise just tore his CCL and does not qualify for surgery because of a pre-existing heart condition. I looked into the Ortho Dog brace but unfortunately their sizes range is just too large for my guy by a few inches. I appreciate your videos, they really help me take care of my fuzzy best friend.
it's so nice to see a vet that actually knows what they're talking about. I feel everytime I see a vet in my town, no matter who, I'm always given incorrect advice or something huge is missed that I had already diagnosed at home and they say something like "we checked the mouth and it looked fine, there must be another reason for the excessive drooling, inability to chew hard food, 2 weeks later led to a cheek abscess because of abscessed teeth. or the most recent, being told to funnel white sugar into the back of a rescue cat armpit abscess instead of just using honey in a syringe. I was giving my 21yr old female daschund an exam and I noticed she has a hard lump between her butt and vagina. Is this normal or a sign of something else like a bladder stone?
Yes, dogs can heal without surgery, just like humans. Most will heal on there own, don't get surgery right away! A few months should tell you if they need surgery..
My 60 pound dog strained one ACL on the left rear-leg and then overcompensated on the r aight-side and tore that. Surgery is recommended. I'm heart-broken. He's been taking Quellin. the surgery is estimated to be $5,000 which is a bit beyond my means. He's 6-7 years old. Any suggestions?
I would also like to know this! My cat is 3 weeks out from his injury. My vet won’t do anything for him, so I probably need to follow up with a specialist, but she said I could watch him for a couple weeks. She couldn’t determine ACL, but she suspects.
Give your pups room to think on their own. Dogs are BRILLIANT! They are smart, they have common sense, they know WAY more than we do. I see people who treat their dogs as if they are stupid. It's NOT the dogs with the problem, it's the owners who don't trust their dog's to do what's right. Praise. Positivity. Persistence.
My dog ruptured her ACL 2 weeks ago. Got her a brace and supplements. She can sit and stand and sleeps on that leg. Hates the brace but she started running with it(on a leish) and pees like a boy by lifting the good leg, leaning on the bad one. The brace helps with her stability.
My 15 year old Chihuahua started limping. I am giving her hemp oil and carrying her in and out of the house for potty breaks. I will try the cold compress. thank you.
@@angelmorningstarr9504 I know what you mean. I still think of all my loves from my entire life. But they go to a better place…We are left with the heartaches.
Would a dog with "cow hocks" be indicative of past ACL injuries (healed)? Asking for my dog, a 16# s/fe Havanese. Tight quads, medially-rotated stifles. I'm her 3rd owner. Unknown medical history prior to adoption.
Would you do similar exercises for a cat? 3 weeks ago my cat injured his leg and my vet suspects it’s the ACL, but she was not able to do the drawer test because he wouldn’t let her. The injured leg (right) also has grade 1 or 2 patellar luxation. He has hip dysplasia, arthritis in his elbows, and arthritis in his left leg. I can’t imagine him going through surgery with all those problems. I don’t know if his left and front legs could support the right if he was recovering from surgery. He’s walking on the injured leg now, but still slightly limping. My vet said I could watch it for a couple of weeks after the follow up, but she said if I want to pursue anything else, I will need to take him to a specialist. She didn’t do much for him besides 3 days of onsior and he’s on gabapentin. He also had early kidney disease, so it really limits his ability to have pain meds. I’ve been trying to restrict his jumping and make him use cat stairs to get onto furniture, but he snuck up the stairs 4 times in 2.5 weeks. When I tried to gate him off in a room, he pushed the gate open from the bottom and snuck up the stairs. When I closed him in the bedroom with the door, he scratched a piece of wood off the bottom of the door. He’s a very determined cat! Part of why I think he would not be okay with cage rest.
My dog kept catching his foot jumping the car net barrier for the front seat to be separated from the backseat. Now I wish I didn't put it up he would've gotten less hurt without it. If you get one get a full ceiling to floor barrier.
Thank you so much for this video. My dog torn one of her cruciate ligaments and she has damaged them again after 2 months since we startes rest and rehabilitation, reading many of the comments are giving me hope as I was so worried and frustrated as now the other leg is starting to be affected. Can I ask please What percentage is the topical dmso that u use please?
If your dog just has a tear but its not completely torn sure this might work, but if your dog is completely "split in half" natural heallig will not work. Without that ligamnet that fibula pulls forward causing straining on the tendons and cartilage underneath.
my 130lb Rottie/Shep mix has a partially torn ACL, doesn't limp much but having lazer and acupuncture with the prescribed meds. I have already consulted with a surgeon and I want to try natural first. He said my dog would still get arthritis just not as early. It's very frustrating to know what to do.

My little 14 lb poodle had the surgery last year he fully tore his ACL okay so he's been limping around hobbling for the past 6 months took him back they said it's still intact but the little plate that they put in the knee has moved to below the knee and they think that's what's irritating him should we do another surgery to take the plate out ? And then should I put a brace on his leg to help him heal?
My dog got out on me ran, tore his ACL, he had already tore his Right ACL. So now he can barely walk on hind quarters. But, he bit me when I tried to put a big towel around him. Im wondering if I can use this home therapy to heal my dog because has some effusion/swelling at the level of his right stifle (knee). This may be consistent with an injury to the soft tissue structures that support the knee joint such as the cruciate ligaments and meniscus.
Do you have instructions on how to use the topical DSMO ointment? Everything I see says it needs to be mixed with another product but can’t find too many details
My small dog had acl surgery and is 100% fit now. I had seen the use of a towel before so asked the surgeon who said absolutely NOT. It's perfectly ok to let your dog walk a few steps when needing the toilet.
My dog elvis is a 19 pound Boston/ Chihuahua and he is 15 years old and tore his legt rear acl . One in a while i hear a click noise but isnt constantly. If he has a meniscus tear can it still heal without surgery? Its been about a month and he is still limping a bit i only take him out to use the bathroom and immediately bring him inside . He is on gabapentin and tramadol and Prednisone and i bought glucosamine. I also have a red light therapy wand. How often should i use redlight therapy? I have stage 4 marginal zone b cell non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and am disabled and unfortunately surgery isnt an option because i can barely survive now . Can elvis still heal ? Also vets recommend i get him the liberela injection cause he has stiff back legs but since the injection is farely new i am afraid to do the injection on him . What do you recommend? Highly concerned mom elvis is all i have left in thos world as my family has all passed away . Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!.
Hello, sir. My little pug, which I thought had a patella issue that slipped in and out may have an e. Asy out here. Can you please tell me exactly what to your video? But she is also very anxious and I was giving her c. B. D oil, but. About 12 hours ago, well longer than 12 hours ago I gave her a gap of Penton so she desperately needs a little C. Bd right now. Would it be OK to give her the C? BD oil or should I wait the 24 hours? My vet said go ahead and give it to her this afternoon a little later and. I'm just so. @@shannonl5159 I meant the exercises, not the brace (if that's what you thought I meant) because I reversed/healed a luxating patella in my dog without surgery by a supplement and fermented fish stock along with exercising, putting MORE weight on the effected knee, not less with a brace. Just wondering if these exercises also worked for that condition.
Thank you. I have a younger Lab about 65lbs who has been struggling with this for several weeks. She’s very high strung & I can’t complete restrict her. My vet doesn’t like braces. I’m going to have to get a second opinion. She said surgery was undesirable but I’d probably have to resort to it. 😢
See if you can find a veterinarian in your area who does prolotherapy. My dog Eva who is a 60 lb white shepherd/yellow lab mix ruptured her acl ligament last June. A friend of mine told me about a friend of their 's who took their 84lb rottweiler to Dr.Fauley in Naperville,Il. I took Eva to him for the treatments. My 12 yr Toy Fox Terrier the last month has been holding up her right front paw and uses only the left and back paws when she walks. She shows no pain when I touch or massage the right front paw. Did you think it might be arthritic? Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
any updates? my dog is small breed, only uses one of the front legs as well, both back legs are fine. the injured leg also shows no sign of significant pain/inflammation.. injured 2 days ago, not putting any pressure or moving affected front leg at the moment
I think Ibuprofen is the Right anti-inflammatory as Acetaminophen is Toxic/ lethal to Dogs and cats.

How is she doing so far? ❤

I also had her on pain killers for a few months and anti inflammatory meds from the vet

@@howdoesitgetbetter no problem. Feel free to ask me any questions.

@@artest7, I completely agree with your entire 2nd paragraph. I too, tend to relate better with dogs than most other people and would go to the ends of the earth to help them any way I can. I have two pitties, each with a CCL tear. We're doing the conservative method, and both are responding well. Dogs have been tearing this ligament since they've been on the earth, and I think people forget that. There are so many new "non surgical" techniques to help them heal. ❤️❤️
Could you please be so kind to navigate me to some of the non-surgical techniques to heal ACL? Thank you in advance.

He doesn’t seem to be in pain and he’s quite happy hopping around on 3 legs but it is frustrating. I still do not want to put him through surgery at his age so taking it day by day.
@@NEChristo I also have a beagle who turned 15 last month. He is in great shape, looks like 5. I would highly recommend to you using homeopathy in combination to what you are already doing. It literally works miracles for my beagle (Arnica + Ruta graveolens + Rhus tox + Calcarea carbonica + Hypericum perforatum, all in 30c potency, equal ratio).
@@NEChristohow’s it coming? Did you look into cold laser therapy?
@@RexRaven22 Major is doing well. It’s been over 4 months and he is puting his leg down more and more when walking. If he is walking fast or sometimes takes off in a run he will still hold it up. It’s a slow process. We use the red light on him almost every day I’m not sure it’s helped but idk so I keep doing it along with glucosamine and collagen. He’s doing amazing for 13 or 14 years old (not sure of his age, he’s a rescue but is 13 at the youngest.) my biggest advice to anyone not willing to consider surgery because of age cost etc is to be very patient and have faith. ❤️
Thank you for these videos. They have helped me heal my male American bulldog but sadly now it's the female who has injured herself. I appreciate your in depth videos and am following them to help her heal. Waiting for the vet to be able to see her next week since we all have lives and hers has had troubled times with a funeral and surgery . Again thank you for these helpful videos
Male is 100 lb n has had full recovery from therapy and no surgery and the female is 80 lb and am trying to avoid the surgery
Not sure if my dog has partial tear, laxating patellar or sprain. Will see vet soon. Still very mobile. Doing msm, rosevital, cats claw, omegas, glucosamine and chondroitin, cyte 4 green lipped muscle …he is Just lifting up left leg a bit. Was all of a sudden. I can see a vet anytime and have insurance but seeing how progresses as I like natural approach …Is heat therapy good too. It’s a lil cold as winter. ???have jack russel foxy on lush blanky with hot water bottle underneath. Been massaging. Limiting activity… you did mention ice but seems natural warmth would help.??? You are wonderful. Love all your stuff.
Thx
If you checkout a dog wheelchair which i have seen for tiny dogs that have various health issues.
Posh braces - custom made
I pray to god you hit 1 million this year 🐕❤️🩹❤️🩹
As a human physical therapist, i have been using ACL protocols on my dog as I would use on humans. This is very similar and i have seen improvements on my fur baby. May have to go into sx however, but hoping for faster recovery from the pre-sx treatments.
Thank you Dr Jones ♥️♥️
Thanks for sharing Dr Jones I enjoyed hearing this information.
This video is very very helpful. Thank you so much for your time ! You are wonderful person 🙏
That's great to hear:)
Thank you for this info, v helpful and encouraging to read about how to help heal naturally as we are going through this at moment with our JJ, hes a Jack Russell. With gratitude 🙏
after how many days was ur chihuahua putting pressure on their leg and walking? mine might’ve tore a ligament as comments have suggested because my 12 lb chihuahua hasn’t been able to put any pressure or seem to be able to move its leg after 2 days injured, haven’t seen vet yet
Thank you. Is Galliprant a safe anti inflammatory?
My dog had the tplo surgery a year ago. He blew it again. I for one can’t keep paying 4K every time he gets injured. We shall see how this goes for him.
How is it now? Thanks
My jackrussle had a limp but i give her gloucosamine and her leg is all better now all thanks to your videos 🙂
@@mehmetalpozlem I started on 3 a day for like a couple of weeks and I saw improvement and now I keep her on one a day
Rub black seed oil on her knot. Might help.
Thank you will take your advice and hope my old girl can get better.
Thank you for all the very helpful information that you provide your followers..so much appreciated..👍
Tula is soooo cute. The way she looks at hom in between. Sooo darn sweet. ❤
Did any cat owner had a recovery with this method? My cat had an ACL injury and my vet recommended surgery!
They say in about 2 years the other acl will go, maybe get two braces to protect the good leg...

Hello Dr. Jones, what are your thoughts on Prolotherapy treatment? My Redbone Coonhound just had it and results are very positive.
It's very frustrating to know what to do.
this is great.. thank you... i wish i could see a more detailed demo of the early ROM stretching., tho.... i have a little maltese and i am afraid of doing damage... -- and would you recommend the same length of walking for the smaller dog?
My little 14 lb poodle had the surgery last year he fully tore his ACL okay so he's been limping around hobbling for the past 6 months took him back they said it's still intact but the little plate that they put in the knee has moved to below the knee and they think that's what's irritating him should we do another surgery to take the plate out ? And then should I put a brace on his leg to help him heal?
My dog got out on me ran, tore his ACL, he had already tore his Right ACL. So now he can barely walk on hind quarters. But, he bit me when I tried to put a big towel around him. He tried to bite me when I tried to put a brace on him. Also tried to use a infrared heating pad, & ice, he was to aggressive. Just using pain meds, & rest.
How’s it coming? Can you describe more about your light therapy approaches? Have you tried cold therapy?

If he has a meniscus tear can it still heal without surgery? Its been about a month and he is still limping a bit i only take him out to use the bathroom and immediately bring him inside . He is on gabapentin and tramadol and Prednisone and i bought glucosamine. I also have a red light therapy wand. How often should i use redlight therapy? Do these exercises also work for a luxating patella?
Yes
Eva need 9 treatments in total from last August to this past April. It has helped her so much. I would never put her through those surgeries even if I could afford them. Red light therapy is supposed to help too. That was the next thing I was going to try if the prolotherapy didn't help.
