That's a bit of a monotonous definition of a joke. A joke CAN be many things and there are many forms of humour. Not every joke is a switcharoo. Some jokes are meant to make you think, whilst other jokes don't take themselves seriously. Jokes can be used to mock something, but they can also be used to lowkey praise something. The only thing all jokes have in common, is that they're intended to make you laugh. And laughing is just another form of stress relief. One of the healthier ones, I might add.

I don't know how to explain it, but he tells his jokes in such a way that the offensiveness is absolutely hilarious. Jim Jeffries wishes he was funny, he wishes he was like this, but he's just not. lol long live Jimmy Carr
Jim Jeffries is a completely different comic. Jim seems to suffer the same fate as Frankie Boyle. Right wing people loved them because they assumed both comics were right wing. When they found out they were left wing, people start pretending they never liked them

I love Jimmy's explanation of the joke and punchline; there's no statement or subtle message behind the joke, like he said it's just to give people a laugh (a cringing one at that) cause all the joke really is is a play on word or terms, flipping the statement everyone expects to hear, and saying something completely the opposite
That's a bit of a monotonous definition of a joke. A joke CAN be many things and there are many forms of humour. Not every joke is a switcharoo. Some jokes are meant to make you think, whilst other jokes don't take themselves seriously. Jokes can be used to mock something, but they can also be used to lowkey praise something. The only thing all jokes have in common, is that they're intended to make you laugh. And laughing is just another form of stress relief. One of the healthier ones, I might add.
