the "i don't think that's any of your business" line by peter is probably the funniest thing i have ever witnessed. so simple, but so perfect. and jimmy's reaction to it is brilliant too
He crossed the line. Peter was right to pull him up about it.
I also like how in being the host of countdown, Jimmy's business is well... word games
You must have missed ‘rectum of the year’
Ever? Maybe not. But it’s up there. Especially for clean comedy
I don't get it even remotely, would you care to explain?
"Sean has often been described as anger in human form. With the easygoing charm of a wounded prisoner with a flicknife." 😂😂😂
"abdicates" is a classic episode.
@@corbinjiang4616 abdicat-es!
The amount of 8 out of 10 cats videos ive watched today is mental. RIP TO A LEGEND.
Crying and laughing together today.
That’s all I’ve done the past few days. My history is littered with Cats does Countdown videos. He will be missed.
It's kinda messed up where I was literally getting into Sean over the past couple weeks, and when I heard the news I somehow felt slightly responsible
Me too
I've had Purple Van Man on repeat for the last couple of days. Absolute comedy great & a very sad loss to fun itself
"Be very careful. I know people."
"I don't"
Mood changed very quickly 😂

You don't know anyone?
He knew her response to Jimmy was rubbish so stepped in to try and save it.
@@gemsandlasers269 It wasn't rubbish though. It fit with the idea of Newcastle being a rough place.
It was actually a really good switch from an offensive joke, dark response, to a lighter self deprecating joke. It was all good.
"been described as a sex symbol, and that symbol is a question mark" lmao
“Followed by a no” is missing 😆
He loves that one it’s straight out of his stand up special
"Well to be honest Jimmy, i don't think thats any of your business" i can't stop laughing 😂😂😂
Kuso, it's a joke where he's basically trying to subvert expectations: People are expecting him to make "small talk", but he just closes it down in a really odd way, because normally guests on any show try to engage with it at least a little bit. So it's unexpected, and rude, but not in a confrontational way.
He's also saying that wordplay isn't Jimmy's "business", suggesting that Carr isn't good at it at all. I don't think that was noticed by the others
Wordplay literally is Jimmy Carr's business.
Probably because that was NOT what he meant at all.
I'm so using that on the random :')
Peter Serafinowicz is so funny he can throw Jimmy off his game.
as funny as a 3 foot coffin !
Watch "Look around You." You'll love it. Thants!
congrats on spelling that name right!
@@tom.in.barcelona You’re right. Petre is a right bastard to spell 🤷🏻
He is absolutely hilarious in The Tick (on Prime). Travesty that it got cancelled after 2 seasons

It was OK. Not very creative, thought the book club one was funnier ("it was in primary school, and i'm pretty sure we were all virgins")

" I didn't think she would mind me wearing them "
Clive Bindley or he had his head in them..
That was a great comeback.

We should all be so lucky as to have someone look at us that way.

8:35 should be studied for comedic timing.
I don't get it. I'm either slow, or I don't get English humor. 8:49 That guy on the right, That's my face trying to understand the joke. lol.
@@DreamfactoryZero it's just a bizarre response. It's obviously not a personal question and is quite relevant considering he's on Countdown
@@DreamfactoryZero The point of the joke is that it derails the conversation, there's nowhere Jimmy can go with it. If he'd answered the question, Jimmy could have made a comment or asked a follow-up question. But that... It just makes an awkward moment.
Same with the "abdicate" bit that follows, with no explanation or anything, just made Jimmy feel awkward and "let's move on". (though Jimmy's timing with the "...and with Peter" is flawless too, very skilled timing)
@@dmdragonfly stick to ‘Friends’-‘big shit theory’ and ‘how I met your laughter track’ mate,
I don’t want you to fucking pull something 😂😂😂
@@DreamfactoryZero Its sort of a multi-layered joke.
First is what Douglas pointed out, it derails the conversation
Second, Jimmy hosts a "word game", but he doesn't own countdown, therefore, word games really aren't jimmys business
"Any words you're hoping come up tonight?"
...
"Abdicates"
I looked it up. "renounce one's throne." Nice.
He said that for the entire show too. Everytime they had to find a better word he said abdicates regardless of letters.
He also builds on the joke later implying that he would like jimmy's job
You had to look up abdicate..?
It's not exactly the most useful or common word.
Loved Sean. So much. Didn’t realise it would hit me this hard, an absolute legend. RIP Sean, he will be missed greatly.
I didn’t know he had passed. I just randomly clicked this clip and am scrolling through the comments as I drink my morning coffee.
I am absolutely devastated right now.
He was the only one who could match Jimmy Carr in terms of wit. I wouldn't want to watch 8 Out Of 10 Cats now without Sean.

Ouch. I just found out 😬
That made me sad, I just started watching this series, and Sean was one of my favorites

LMAOOOO
There'd be a fucking row if it didn't!
The "i don't know anyone.. not really deep down" is my favourite of the whole show. Seems legitimately spontaneous. One of the cleverest, funniest bits I've ever heard in comedy. Twisting someone's else's threat into a profound revealing of one's loneliness.
"The last time I saw hair that curly it was sticking out of my girlfriend's knickers."

I love Sean's reaction to Peter's comeback.
This is the one joke that I didn't actually get, is it a play on words or is there something I'm missing about Peter?
Shona it's just the way he said it, like he was trying to shame Jimmy
@shona its funny because its such a light hearted question which would gain no personal information at all.
Peter responded as If He'd just been asked his bank balance or something more offensive, very funny guy Peter S...
he got triggered, that's what happened, thats why jimmy apologised because he sensed his hostility
Belamine MedAmine didn’t you see him crack a smile? Takes more than a poll about your Nan to trigger a comic tbh.
Jon is right, that OCD joke is amazing 😂
The ending gets me every single time
How many times have you watched it in the last 22 hours?
Far too many to count mate
I dunno mate, I just found how the joke unraveled + their tone of voices were funny, didn't look too far into it
@Evi1M4chine It's funny because his reply to Jimmy Carr basically reverses expectations. Normally guests on chat shows are open and seem content to answer trivial questions; like "are you a fan of word games?"; but here Peter Serafinowicz refuses to answer; becomes passive/ aggressive and tells the host to mind his own business.
It's really character driven humour; he often plays obnoxious characters and is quite good at that; him being voted the funniest comedian (by his nan) is just to allow a bad pun (polls/ Poles) I don't think it's true; but I find it funny the way Peter Serafinowicz made things seem sinister suddenly and it's more the way he said it rather than what he said (his delivery) that was genius.
Abdicates is a nine letter work; it means to give up authority ... I don't know if it was aimed at Jimmy but it's delivered in the same deadpan fashion; Jimmy obviously decides it's better to leave it there.
I thought it was brilliant comedy.
Abdicates definitely was aimed at Jimmy, obviously as a joke
8:34 - the funniest 30 seconds of TV I have ever seen. Makes me howl with laughter every time and you can see the whole panel, audience and Jimmy erupt with laughter!
i don't get it
@@a1exfb29 The joke is in the context and Peter’s deadpan delivery makes it brilliant. He pretends to be offended by Jimmy’s perfectly neutral and harmless question. It works in the context of Jimmy insulting everyone in the intro.

"abdicates" is a classic episode.
It's season 3, episode 6 if I'm not mistaken. I remember the entire episode being on youtube, but can't find it in my history or through search for some reason.
...is it?
ua-cam.com/video/FNuruipdZaM/v-deo.html If you could ignore the annoying cyrillic subtitles, that's the episode. Dunno why it says series 4 though. I'm 100% sure it's series 3.
The way series and episodes of CatsDown are numbered are messy because the show began as a one-off and sometimes breaks between series are so short it's not clear if it is an official break or not.
GuanoLad I agree, but to be honest, I don't think that's any of your business
"To be fair Jimmy, I don't think that's any of your business"...... That had me rolling.

Jon is honestly adorable!!! I love him so much
Okay, damn, as an American and a bisexual, 7:39 touched my heart. In America it's all too often that people - even major media outlets - pretend bisexuality isn't even a thing and just call bi people and celebrities gay. Even then, being LGBT is suddenly the only thing about you anyone cares about, rather than something minor enough that a game show host is comfortable cracking jokes about it. I'm in the wrong country, man.
Sammie1053 it's difficult being bisexual because you're not gay enough for the gay crowd and not straight enough for the straight crowd. So you don't really fit in anywhere. I just don't tell anybody, it makes my life a lot easier.
Notice how Jon and Kevin seem confused by Peter's responses. I think it's the funniest thing I've seen on this show.
4:51 goddamn that was savage af 😂😂
“With the easy going charm of a wounded prisoner with a knife” I love these similes 😂😂

Derp this isn’t American t.v
Derp it's the waits edited it won't show up on UA-cam's algorithm to find them
It’s totally from Channel 4! Have you never seen the show? Why would they pay Jimmy Carr to be his outrageous best then ban him online? When all’s said and done this video is just advertising for the show to get you to watch it so adverts can be aimed at you in the break, if they banned it online in England then less people would be exposed to the marketing aimed at them which defeats the object
@@honeybadgerzs Most Channel 4 videos are blocked in the UK, because they want you to watch on All 4 instead.

Serafinowicz should play James Bond!!!
One thing I have been thinking about is the "nature" of TV. What is "real reactions" and what is.. to kind of make it look like there is a bit of "tension in the banter".. Especially when sentences similar to "These are his ones" or "You had moved on from me" were said..
Because.. I have NOT kept score, but my IMPRESSION is that.. Jimmy Carr "jokes" about the regulars when he presents them.. often in a cruel manner.. but the VISITORS.. he usually either give a HARMLESS joke.. OR he plays on some of their experiences/attributes/or whatever.. and then put it in CONTRAST with his regulars, and it is the regulars who end up the butt of the joke..
Fairly sure this is intentional.. The regulars ARE part of the system, so IF they all agreed on this premiss of "being lenient with the guests just to not make them feel unwelcome, and still get the audience to experience that there WAS a barb during their presentation".. this means that.. when they express annoyance.. they are just pulling our legs..
Which kind of makes sense, because it's a running Gag that the Sexy Ladies with the Knowledge are annoyed with Jimmie- with the knob-gags.. (If memory serves, those were the proper titles).. Especially Jimmies, as I am fairly sure he at one of his shows "But now back to my field of expertise".. (I MIGHT be paraphrasing, but ŜOMETHING to that effect)..
Also this "tension" between "Jimmie, 'Roasting' Carr".. (NOT sure if I got the middle name right).. and the people that he roasts on a barb.. has been exploited through out the show.. (Like when the dented Susan got a bunch of pre-made retaliatory jokes..
But it is POSSIBLE that this isn't something they ever thought about, were informed about, etc.. so.. evem when the scenery (well; "Permanent staff", or.. "Repeat offenders") react "negatively".. it is a TRUE reaction..that is about how THEY try to BOTH avoid ruining the show by REALLY being hostile, but still try to .. get their own punches in..
This is a huge question of mine..
(Though to be fair- if I could chose- I'd RATHER like to know if there is any truth to Jimmie's jokes about Dents promiscuity.. I KNOW that it is presented in a way that makes it LOOK like they are just a "conflict of perception" type joke.. BUT.. Considering MOST famous people keep their private life private.. the idea that she would be somewhat of a less than sexually aggressive MIGHT rather be about the "show she presents" and the fact that she IS able to just do her job.. and STILL have some naughty behaviours when she enjoys life OUTSIDE of camera.. TWO reasons as to why I would want the true reason for this.. ONE.. is because.. I REALLY like to know that people are relaxed enough to enjoy anything life has to give them in a way of their own choosing.. I would be very happy for her.. and the second one..
I LIKE intelligent people.. and she seems to BOTH know a lot.. care about knowledge.. invest time in knowledge.. and so on.. and.. I got a bit of a crush on her.. NOT sure if I think a relationship would work, but.. if she seriously IS sexually.... not sure how to express it in English..( a "Steam Train"?.. .. or..someone who tends to be volountarily sharing the fruit from her "fruit basket"?.. perhaps.. "Sledge hammer"?..=---
I would ABSOLUTELY like to nurture the thought that she MIGHT.. enjoy spending some quality time with me.. (To be fair; I AM implying, but also.. I'd enjoy just have a coffee with her and talk about anything she likes.. though to be fair our fields of interest doesn't directly overlap.. which relationship-wise is something I believe matters.. because if two people BOTH care about higher learning/-understanding.. IF they are in the same field.. disagreements become a matter of "power" or "position", and also.. it becomes too competative.. I do care about etymology of words, the words themselves, and how to use them.. but.. it's REALLY far down of my list of things that I will engulf myself in studying.. so.. Similar enough for me to feel a connection.. and still distant enough for us to have.. "our own things".. and.. even if I DO enjoy the thing I started by implying.. I also can say that I never met anyone who is fascinated and/or passionate about something that I am NOT that into where I didn't enjoy listening to THEIR insight, thoughts, feelings, etc..
There is NOTHING that gives me a "brain-on " more than someone who is passionate about what they do.. also.. if it is something I am NORMALLY not interested in.. the shere enjoyment and passion of the person who DID care enough to do the boring legwork.. and I become a "Vampire".. THEY provide me with the emotion I should feel about the topic (thanks to me being fairly empathetic ESPECIALLY if it is about anything that relates to "knowledge").. AND.. they provide me with the final answers THEY got when they did all the studying that ONLY people who ACTUALLY are passionate about the topic would enjoy doing..
(The only thing that annoys me is that I USUALLY come away thinking I "know" something new.. and reality is that.. I KNOW!! That I HAVE to be in the early stages of the Dunning-Kruger curve.. I might have misunderstood something (because I don't really have the correct insight to know the details that differs between "what she said" and "what I heard")..... and also.. I have only heard ONE person talk.. and never double checked, but I just trusted them because they REALLY showed that they ARE competent.. but also: EVERYONE are biased.. everyone speculates.. everyone "fills out" and/or "reinterprets things" based on their own biases.. so.. I would THINK I know something worth knowing.. but in reality the "value" of what I could have to say would be the same quality as a paper that comes from a fax.. to which it was sent by someone who only passed on a fax THEY received earlier.. A copy of a copy through a VERY flawed system of communication..
And I never like to be "Overconfident".. IF I say that I am confident about something to a specific degree, I want that degree to be the BEST possible representation of how much I know..
Seriously? You read THIS far?.. Never mind Susie Dent (unless you ARE Susie Dent).. I think I might actually have a bit of a Brain-On for YOU.

Think Christopher Walken...you'll enjoy it.
