2:20 zone 2 popular now? Popular since Ken Cooper talked about it in 1968.

I would argue more of the general running population is talking about Zone 2 Training over the last 5-Years than ever before. But yes, people like Ken and Phil Maffetone have been talking about it since the 60's.
Just like meditation has been used for thousands of years, but was made more popular amongst the general population thanks to apps like Headspace in the last decade.

@@RelaxedRunningIndeed. We've been hunting in zone 2 for thousands of years, if not more. It's kind of what we do.

Hi Tys, a little off topic but I didn't see your name in the Melbourne Marathon results. I may have missed an update somewhere along the line regarding your training for this event 🤔Hopefully it wasn't due to injury, but if so, that you bounce back stronger for the next event. Cheers 👍

Hello mate! Thanks for checking in! I ended up having to take a little break during 4-important weeks of the build up due to overloading the calves again (check out latest episode of chasing 2.29) - bit of a bummer but back into now and thinking of refocusing on GC 2025 Mara! :)

If you want good time zone 2 will not cut it, only for recovery. Consistency is a key.

Which is why he never said you should only do zone 2. You also do your interval/tempos as well. Zone 2 is to build the aerobic base which always you to have better high intensity sessions.

Prof Inigo San Milan, Prof Seiller, Dr Maffetone, Mark Allen, as well as many other leading sports scientists and coaches would respectively, and adamantly disagree with you.

@@frankarena838 It's like I want to run sub 3 hours marathon without conditioning your body to that pace. Zone 2 will never let you run faster, you need spread across all zones during weeks and years training. Zone 2 is literally pure recovery after hard training. Or before race do zone 2 for 3 or 4 days to recover body for full Zone 5 race.

Faster than 90% of people will get me into the Olympics?
Will I get endorsements deals from Nike? Or New Balance?
Otherwise, what is the point of being faster than 90% of people.
Would the government give me a fast runner monthly allowance?

It's estimated that there's 51-million people who run in the U.S alone. There's far fewer than 5-million athletes chosen to represent the U.S in track and field and marathon combined. Unless you've got some marketing power, I doubt this will get you any running endorsements!
