This one along with sh&t creek truly rock , I’m discovering many icicle works and Ian Mcnabb solo songs and finding what a great body of work it truly is. This is a brilliant version of a great tune
What can you say about this band!!saw them at the Royal court in Liverpool around this time, what fantastic memories of a fine band!!Ian's vocals are just the same now! Brilliant!!!!!!
I was talking to Chris Layhe yesterday at a funeral, having known him since He was in a local band prior to the Icicle Works. Ian and Him are touring soon as Support to Big Country. I'm going to request this Song as a Buried Treasure to be Played on Ken Bruce's Greatest Hits Radio Show.
Saw them for the 1st time in Rock City Nottm 1986 as a 1st year student, still try and catch Ian when he's out gigging our way even now he puts on a great show and still writing fab stuff. Also a shout out to the IW drummer Chris Sharrock he was absolutely amazing
This is my favourite IW track. I lost my vinyl copy of "Seven Singles Deep" years ago, on which was the best version of WIACD. The 92 version on the greatest hits cd was disappointing.
Wow, I thought I was the only person on the planet that taped this. I remember this show, it also featured Dr and the Medics. I've still got the video. Excellent, I loved this band.
This....just this....absolutely fab. Ian still has a massive following and rightly so. He's just got better and better as the years have gone on. Long may it continue. I always look forward to new stuff....never disappoints.
I was there behind Andy kershaw!..jumping like a loon!..cos asked us too..got backstage met Ian and Chris '..for first time the rest his history 😂..still churning it out ian 👍 and playing with the icies too...great times 😮😅gazzzz
Blood wonderful! McNabb sure knows how to pen [and deliver] a great rock song.. Mind you it helps having Sharrock on drums... Bought this on 7" vinyl when it came out.... Loved it then, love it now... Legendary! PS Agree about Andy Kershaw - someone with real character rather than the plastic people you see today... it is a disgrace how he has been treated by the BBC
loved the icicle works... but going from love is a wonderful colour to heavy rock like this in two years was a massive change of direction and was probably why they were never huge...fantastic band though.
Trying to get to the bottom of why they split and why the other pair haven't reformed with Mcnabb. If you look at how differently they're dressed, you can maybe see some cracks appearing here.
nah, wasn't it more like Ian took more and more control of the band? he was already writing all songs and producing. Why most bands split up eventually, like CCR and so on.
@@weirandstubbs thats not from The Tube set, it's from The Whistle Test - as it clearly shows in the first minute of the song. A good song nevertheless...
What exactly are that lot doing behind Andy Kershaw at the intro to this? They look completely bizarre. There was seriously something wrong with people in the 80's.

One of the great 'singles' bands of the 80's. Even the b-sides pissed all over their contemporaries
Ian always write a beautiful chorus
Chris Sharrock on drums simply magnifique up there with the best in my opinion.
Always liked Ian Mcnabb, and love his guitar style, this performance of WIACD, was really raw and powerful!
One of my fav songs of all time - I loved the Icies - they should have been HUGE!
Looking forward to see you guys in bilston 18 dec x
these guys were so incredible-- along with big country, the only bands i still listen to from back then
What can you say about this band!!saw them at the Royal court in Liverpool around this time, what fantastic memories of a fine band!!Ian's vocals are just the same now! Brilliant!!!!!!
McNabb is a genius and they are my favorite band of all time. Thanks for this. Legend....
This is a band. McNabb is a genius
That performance was really good and will always be fondly remembered especially by me.

Still blows me away 👍
This song, and all the IW songs, makes me so nostalgic for days long past that it hurts.

I taped it too! but only to catch the Icicies!!
I think my video tape would have rotted by now 😢
@@paulbhulatt Hi, yes I know what you mean. I still have lots of VSH tapes gathering dust!

Saw thrn last night in Camden. This one turned into an audience singalong. Ian’s still got great pipes!
Awesome performance.. loved seeing the original Icicle works in the 80’s and still enjoying seeing Ian McNabb and band now
i like very much this kind of basic band with very natural sound

Bought all Icicle works records and Ians solo stuff. Very underated writer and singer. He's touring with a version of the icicle works in december.
nostalgia's great ain't it.

this vid is how i got into this band shortley after this got to see them at the marquee club in london g8 gig , thanx for posting this
Does any songwriter write a better 'soaring', lift-off chorus? Love Ian McNabb's songwriting.
Breathtaking !
Brilliant.
Thank you so much for putting this on UA-cam.
loved the icicle works... but going from love is a wonderful colour to heavy rock like this in two years was a massive change of direction and was probably why they were never huge...fantastic band though.

@@steveboarder3853 Stoke IS in the south. South of Liverpool, Manchester, Middlesbrough. That is the south.

How great were they? Up the Icies!
McNabb is the greatest songwriter after Lennon. Fact.
