I believe the numbers of the Q mean something…it’s a consistent measure of something….i could probably figure it out and when i do i will get back to you. Also when using something like a digital fab filter 3 or Kirchhoff style EQ people are kinda using them wrong in my opinion….you can make narrow cuts and make it still sound natural by using the mid side features….cut narrow outta the mids and boost the same frequencies in the sides. It’s actually not really a competition these days. For me, I use both ways depending on what the sound needs and where.
Well on my monitors, the Fab with narrow cuts or boosts seem to sound I don't know, thin sounding maybe.. But when you did widen the Q, it sound more full, to me. I don't know but dang it man, again, this was eye opening.. Keep teaching dude, this wisdom is G-14 classified bruh.. lol.. Again, Outstanding info.. So really, you can get a PQ3 to sound like an SSL, if you know what you're doing.. MAN, Im a try that.. I just want to see. If I use narrow cuts, try to stay away from them if possible, but use them minimally or not at all.. Yes suh..
Absolutely, it’s just inefficient and time wasting when you need to get things done asap, just throw on bx ssl 4000 and be done with it., but have fun and explore it’s all good
sometimes ringing is caused by eq and it's phase changes / so sometimes you try to remove this resonance but end up with even more of it. that's because the narrower filters are, the more phase is changed in certain band.
Thank you, i work all kind of janra, most for EDM i use dijital eq, for acustic works live recorded consert mixes i'll go on consols emulations mostly the SSL native, on EDM side loops bass ore other elements in the mix are pre prosesd so the bord band eq is much more affactive. @@kinghandleeThe question is not that your mixing without hardware using plugs, the question is that the stems/TRACKS you are using have they already been processed using hardware? YES OR NO.

I only ever use a tight Q values if the frequency I want to reduce is ringing, otherwise I only use wider Q values because they sound more natural.

liked for the "perhaps" in the title :)

Do you like to make music with the Sony MDR MV1? Curious about how you use it today.
I mix every song on it.
Which of these EQ plugins satisfied YOUR ears the most? Comment below what you think including Mr. Lee!
MH channel strip and Harrison 32c EQ. Those are the EQs I use most.
Am I deaf, can other people hear the differences in these comparisons???
It's subtle. Focus on the snare first. You'll hear them.
👍👍👍👍👍
Hi are your stems that you use in Pro Tools are already processed thru hardware?
@@thegroove2000 no. I don't use any hardware for mixing
@@kinghandlee The tracks that you are mixing were they processed using hardware gear apart from mics and preamps?
@@thegroove2000 I've told you, NO! Why are you keep asking me the same question?
@@kinghandlee Because the tracks you are mixing must have been recorded with gear already. Is that right or wrong?

Pro Q= Tin can
😂 do a null test
No thank you. I trust my ears.
@@aleksandarstojceski3139 I really like this comment! thumbs up!
i prefer the fabfilter tight q
