You could have got off the tram at Haymarket, then caught the LNER train from there . My wife and I are staying at the Premier Inn at Haymarket in January and I fancy booking a day trip to Dundee, which is the reason i found this video. I see Scotrail are also on this route, but the idea of selecting exact seats on the LNER website at the time of booking is perfect for us, meaning they will get our business.
I live in Edinburgh and am very familiar with this line so it's good to have someone else's perspective. By the way there were two toilets to every carriage, not one for all nine as you seem to be saying! These LNER HSTs have been superseded by new stock and you can't stick your head out the window any more...
Great ! Unfortunately, this journey isn't done anymore by HSTs as they are completely replaced by Azuma class 800/801 new trainsets since a few months.
Will be doing this very journey in 10 days with my family. Thanks for sharing this video! To take the train to Dundee, how many tram stations from Edinburhg Airport?
Ah I do miss those LNER trains, the new LNER Azuma trains are great but the first class seating just isn’t as comfortable. It’s also worth noting that you can get ScotRail Intercity trains at Edinburgh Gateway and those trains are very nice!
Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) lines weren’t making money sufficiently for VT owning the lines until the end of the franchise in 2023, therefore VTEC contract was terminated by the Department of Transport in June 2018. The LNER franchise was created then, and it is owned by the Government.
This train is a IC125, later called High Speed Train. It actually doesn't exceed the speed of 85mph on this journey due to the line being very sharp, however on the London to Edinburgh route it goes up to 125mph, or 201km/h : that is a high speed train.
Merci !

@@Z50000 thanks for the update. Do you happen to know if the route is the same? Many thanks
@@motorheadschwaby8087 , the route and stops are exactly the same, it's just the rolling stock that has changed.
@@Z50000 thank you

Haven't the newish Hitachi high speed trains made it North of the Border yet?
Yes they have, but this was recorded in March, the new Azuma trains weren't in passenger service yet.
Do you know why LNER changed from Virgin Trains East Coast

when was this recorded?
This was filmed on Wednesday, 20th March 2019.
Wouldn’t exactly call LNER high speed
