I only discovered this site recently and am addicted! Simon is so lovely! There is another sleeper train in England the GWT which goes to St Ives from London
@@JenniferThomas1301 They are I used to live in Wales and both Scots and Welsh Id rate nicer than English. Both have similarities to English but not always quite as inclined to be pompous
Simon, the UK has two sleeper trains. That one you have just been on and one to Penzance, on GWR. I travelled on the old mark 3 coaches arojnd 30 years ago in the opposite direction. In those days it was salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast, in the days of British Rail and Intercity Sleepers. Looks like an improvement.
@@jamesk1806 there are two. Caledonian sleeper goes from various points in Scotland and joins up fully at the border and travels as a king train to Londo, and vice versa. the second one goes from Paddington to Cornwall which are both in England. Simon was on the Caledonian sleeper.
Honestly love your friendliness and kindness towards everyone you walk past Simon! Great content also! Special mention to Martin the ledge, what a bloke!
Wow a double bed on a train. Imagining having all the comforts of a hotel on a train from Edinburgh to London. I probably wouldn’t even want to leave the train when I reach my destination. This is definitely something worth adding to my bucket list and to save for.
Watching these videos gives me hope for humanity. Especially when there are people like Martin in the world. He feels like a friend! Hope to visit Edinburgh one day! Greetings to all from the U.S. (California)!
I love to do this journey with my family. When I was a kid, me and my mum used to take the night train from Stockholm to Storlien, Sweden. It was awesome.
I done this same room/trip last year. Except i started up in Inverness. I absolutely loved it and the price isnt bad considering what you get. I just flew 9 hours on a flight that was double the price of the Caledonian and it wasnt close to the comforts of that train. Great video!
To pay £360 one way for a journey of about 350miles is ridiculous, yes you get a bed not a seat but still. Ryanair £20 to STN 1hr 20mins job done Easyjet £40 to LGW 1hr 35mins job done BA £54 to LHR 1hr 25mins job done Prices on skyscanner for April Remember if your flying for 9 hours thats a longhaul flight like LHR - LA or South east asia, can't compare that price to a 350mile domestic train journey lol And comparing a double bed on a sleeper train to an economy seat on a plane is a bit silly
@@charlesjay8818 Ita not silly at all. We all have different budgets. What's £500 to me might be £20 to you. You done alot of work for nothing there haha. I've used economy easy jet and 1st class Emirates. Different travel for different times. Plus as a business owner that £360 1 way train can just go against my tax at the end of the year 😉

New to this channel, and apologies for my first comment being about Martin and the basement tour. How lucky are you! What a great guy! Great post and looking fwd to seeing more.
Martin, you top lad. I once asked a copper in Edinburgh for directions to a local bar and after giving me directions and walking away he came running back to say he’d walk me there, just to make sure I didn’t get lost. Such lovely people!
Brilliant video. It was lovely to see the basement of the Waverley as my dad, who was from Edinburgh, was a child evacuated during the war, so he'd have been down there. He passed away 21 years ago today.
With all the crap and stress at airports these days although trains cost more its worth it to keep your sanity. Many people book hotels the night before flights, cost of parking much prefer trains
I traveled Scotland to London many times in the 80,overnight, and seldom even got a seat. Spent many nights sitting in the corridor on my suitcase. That room was luxury
Great vid, loved the tour of the basement, very fascinating bit of history. You also said this is probably the best train you have ever been on, if interested I recommend you look at the Midland Pullman, you'll soon change your mind 😊
Have only just stumbled across your content and watched the 24 hour train trip in Pakistan with Bald, I've now gone way back to the start of your content and been working my way through. Hat off to you some of the blags are absolutely brilliant. Oh and your mam is an absolute legend!
Gutted I missed you in my hometown of Edinburgh. Hope you had a great time here. Absolutely loved this video, I had no idea about the tunnels under the station, thank you so much for sharing ☺️
Edinburgh is one of my most favorite places. Love it all the train station, city, architecture, people, food. I would love to go back and do a proper vlog. I was there when UA-cam was barely new. What a classy train. Haggis neeps and tatties are great. Haggis is like taco meat. Delicous what a nice experience. Martin came back for you. What a stellar gent. Much different from Pakistan haha geez. Maybe I need to fly to London and take the sleeper. Great video as always. We are heading to Iceland super soon. Should be an adventure wow a bacon roll. Never had one of those.

Do Pacific ocean island hopping! You'll love it

I want to return to Scotland just for the haggis. Its literally banned in the US 😆
Haggis, needs and tatties is a banging recommendation for him. Also, you were super cute!!!! ❤

My thoughts entirely. I would have loved to watch a sneaking onto the Caledonian Sleeper video.
Martin is a hero. What a guy. I love it when strangers are genuinely kind and friendly. Yay for Martin, restoring faith in humanity everywhere! ❤️
And, just like that, Martin joined the select club of the people that Simon never actually got to SEE LATER...
'see you later' is just a way of saying Goodbye. Not to be taken literally.
Ha! So true… Simon has said ‘see you later’ to over 100,000 people on all seven continents. He even said ‘see you later’ to the pelican in Antarctica
He did actually see that guy in New Orleans a second time. There’s probably more but that one comes to mind.
