I have been looking into this myself because I may have to use Edinburgh Airport instead of my usual Manchester Airport for an upcoming flight. I don't think you made a fair test or comparison between tram and bus. Most people going to the airport will have at least one suitcase. Your suitcase was just a cabin bag. I will be taking two checked in suitcases plus a a cabin bag and laptop bag. I will be coming to Edinburgh by train. There is a tram stop right outside Haymarket train station. It has level boarding which makes things much easier with multiple suitcases and they provide generous space for luggage. Between Haymarket and the airport, the tram line doesn't have to share space with the road which means not getting held up in a traffic jam. I will be using it at a non-peak weekday time so should have plenty of space. Luggage space is more important to me than having a seat for a 27 minute journey.
Thanks for your opinion, we are coming to Edinburgh in July so we will take the bus or tram, there doesn't seem to be that much difference, we need to get to Haymarket as our hotel is near there. I think we might still take the tram as it seems to be a 'smoother'ride.
The tram is generally the better option , certainly at peak times. The system is very popular and can take you to city centre and now (2023) down to Leith and Newhaven. Step free access, very clean and there is a ticket conductor/inspector onboard who will give advice re any questions about which stop to alight. Thought your video was very prejudiced against the tram. As many others have said, you had clearly decided the bus was your favourite option from the start, so why not just say that rather than pretending you were conducting a fair trial, when clearly you were not! Disappointing and very misleading video.

I will take a train from Cumbria to Scotland and have also learnt to get off at Haymarket rather than Edinburgh Waverley because there is a tram stop right outside Haymarket station.
I catch the trams daily (Leith to Princes street) and find them significantly faster than buses. £49 for unlimited travel for a month full-length of the network too.
There seems to be a "cheat" where you take the tram to the last stop before the airport and pay way less. Of course you have to walk the rest of the journey with your luggage.
The trouble with that is that you're adding a lot of wear and tear to your suitcases. The wheels are often the first things to fail. The tram ticket saving isn't worth it because you will have to replace your suitcases much sooner. That's why I don't mind paying the £1 charge to use the trolleys at Manchester airport.
Hi I did exactly the same I timed the airlink 100 and it took 35 mins on peck times can take longer up to 45 the tram is the best way to travel however when it breaks down the bus is taxi is 40.50 to st andrews Square
Another tip - if you are traveling in Edinburgh by train to catch the tram/bus to the airport get off at Haymarket station - it is easier than Waverley. Or even better Edinburgh Park then tram. Scottish NEC cards issued outside Edinburgh are not valid on the trams - but the bus is free.
Buses are still Jakey-crates, at least there's fewer bellends on the tram most of the time, aside from knobgoblins on their phones, eatin' crap or spraffin' it.

The Airlink bus isn't so great during rush hour as traffic jams are frequent at Corstorphine.
The tram is the far better option at peak times.

Trams may be smoother, that's because of the appalling state of Edinburgh roads.
Get a Black cab Taxi. With my cab filled its cheaper than the bus and certainly the tram.
